Isle Of Man Airport customer review

A very pleasant small airport. Facilities in the departure hall are good given the size of the airport and has a very pleasant atmosphere with comfortable seating. There is a rather strange glass corridor which one enters when leaving the terminal to board. It offers some protection from the elements for about 75% of the distance but the corridor is open at the bottom for some reason which gives a very cold atmosphere. Baggage retrieval is fast and efficient. Security can be rather slow at peak times - only one scanner available. Staff are friendly. All in all - I like this airport.

After another spell of regular IOM commuting unfortunately I have to report that the queues for security have not eased and at busy times the single x-ray machine cannot cope with the rush. Staff don't seem to appreciate that a half-hour queuing session is not pleasant and undermines any other efforts to make customers feel positive about the experience. It seems unnecessary bearing in mind that there is another machine standing idle. Wi-fi might be free but is only available intermittently. Car parking is breathtakingly expensive when you consider that comparable airports have free parking. On the plus side the bus timetable has been amended and is now more suitable.

Have used this airport a lot over the last 10 years and find it works well for its size. Online check-in avoided queuing at the desk. Check in area very clean and tidy and "welcoming". Security was slow however and the need to remove shoes was a pain. Once through security the departure lounge is light and airy with a bar and a small shop. Seating was aplenty even for the 2 EasyJet flights that were in. Boarding was quick and efficient and maybe other regional airports could learn from.

Used IoM this week for the first time and it couldn't be faulted at all. A very relaxed experience and staff who were quite friendly.

Isle Of Man Airport customer review

Small regional airports such as this restore one's faith in flying. From the aircraft to the baggage area was no more than a 50yd walk and baggage delivery was almost instantaneous. Car rental pick-up was quick and efficient (Isle of Man Rent a Car) and the rental cars are parked just 100yds away. We were away from the airport within 20mins of arriving at the gate. On our return there was no queue at the Flybe check-in desks and the security checks were carried out quickly efficiently and a rarity these days with a smile. Mention must be made of the large and comfortable landside waiting area which offers plenty of seating with panoramic views of the airfield and the surrounding coast. The refreshment area offers a wide variety of food at sensible prices and on the day we departed the chef had not turned up for work yet the two remaining staff on duty managed to provide a good breakfast service with almost unheard of offer to "take a seat and we'll bring it over to you".

A good airport with quite a pleasant atmosphere since the recent upgrading work. The baggage is often available as soon as you arrive after a short walk from the plane. Quite often I've been outside the airport within ten minutes of the flight touching down. On departures the security queue and process can be a little tedious if there are a few flights departing at about the same time and there's only the minimum of facilities in the departure lounge (although there is free wi-fi). The car park is a bit more expensive than it should be; if you're away for a weekend it seems very pricey (currently the first day costs £11.50 but £3.50 thereafter). That might not seem too much but remember that this is a small airport situated in an area with plenty of spare land. Compare with Blackpool (a similar size airport) where you can park for free.

IOM-MAN-IOM flew with flybe following Euro Manx's collapse. Airport is very small but welcoming with plenty of seating & facilities for a small island airport. The security is swift & all staff helpful. Overall a very clean & comfortable little airport

I wholeheartedly agree with the other comments. How nice to see such a clean tidy and efficient airport with keen staff especially the girls running the airside shop. They have made it a much happier place since the old staff were replaced. Even the Airport Director himself makes a point of announcing serious delays which shows a keenness to get it right with travellers. Well done Ronaldsway.

This is one of my favourite airports. If you're flying with BA CitiExpress to/from Luton the contrast with the ghastly Luton airport is striking. Ronaldsway Airport is small efficient and clean. Until a few years ago it was stuck in a rather nostalgic 1950s timewarp but has since been modernised and expanded. There is a half-hourly bus service direct from the airport to Douglas Castletown and Port Erin. The island's bus system (Isle of Man Transport) works well. There's even a airport railway station within a 5-10 minute walk - for steam trains to Douglas Castletown and Port Erin. Trains stop on request only (put your hand out!) and run roughly every 2 hours during the summer months only.

My first visit to Ronaldsway and I was most pleasantly surprised the car parking was reasonably priced and also very well landscaped. The terminal is a sort of upgraded art deco style and check-in etc is very user friendly. There is a very clean and light cafeteria and bar that for once is reminiscent of the 1950s air terminals as one can sit and look out at aircraft close up! All in all a very nice small airport I hope it doesn't expand too much in the future
