"facilities were fantastic"
T Sung (Singapore)
✅ Trip Verified |
Great airport, facilities were fantastic and not too pricey as far as airports go. The restaurants available were fantastic, as were the chairs available. Only thing I found undesirable was the super slow wifi offered, albeit free wifi. Would be happy to transit here. On par with HK in quality and without the crowds!

"heating in winter not a priority"
J Edwards (New Zealand)
✅ Trip Verified | It was cold! It seems heating in winter is not a priority, so pack a jumper. The airport is huge, with long distances to walk to and from gates/terminal, but it is all very nice and new and clean, as can be expected from anything in the new China. The China Southern business lounge was properly heated, thankfully. It's a spacious, clean and well-appointed lounge, with nap rooms, showers and plenty of places to sit. Food and beverage choices were quite good, but only Chinese newspapers available. Remember this is China, so forget about catching up with your normal social media etc. No Facebook, No Google searching, seemingly no BBC news, etc. In would not want to be stuck in this airport for a long period without having lounge access, but if you are business class or above, it's a pleasant place to spend some time.

"a new airport and looks nice"
YH LI (Canada)
Not Verified | I arrived to Guangzhou Airport while transferring for my trip to Vancouver. It is a new airport and looks nice. The facilities are well-designed and comfortable to use. However, the airport is so big and the layout is a bit messy. I must walk far and even go up and down steps in order to arrive to where I have to be. I think this is because the airport is really new and not quite used.

"No wifi is terrible"
1 reviews Yiran Lu (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | No wifi is terrible! When I arrived I found it's a new airport. My checked baggage arrived slowly and I waited for a long time. The airport looked good but I suppose the wifi is very important for the passengers.

"had a terrible experience"
N Dawson (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | We only transited at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport for our round trip (Ho Chi Minh – Paris). We were travaling with an 18 month old baby. We had a terrible experience at this airport. They don’t have priority for families with a baby at the queue. The most ridiculous thing is we had to show our passport every 15 minutes to get the red stamp on the boarding pass (maybe 10 times). The airport staff can not speak English. All social network (Facebook, Viber, Whatsapp) and Google are blocked, can not contact the family.

"so much to explore"
N Kenneth (United States)
Not Verified | I had my connection flight from another city in China to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and then from this airport to JFK in New York with China Southern Airlines. This airport is huge, with so much to explore. There are many stores, fast food restaurants so you can grab something to eat during connection. This a very modern airport [Terminal 2 specifically], the WiFi coverage in this airport is excellent, you can always get strong signal of the network around the place, there are also some kiosks featured in the airport where you can find information about stores, flight gate and so on, so if you are having difficulties communicating with the airport staff because you don't speak Chinese, just go ahead and use the kiosk. Only complain is how the airport assign the gate, the aircraft for our flight from Guangzhou to New York is a Boeing 777-300ER, which is a huge aircraft that can accommodate more than 300 passengers, the gate the airport assigned is A168, which has less than 100 seats available for passenger while waiting for boarding. Other than that, this is a great airport and I'm looking forward to have my connection flight here again in the future when travel to China or other countries in Asia.

"spacious and well-decorated"
Hangying Zhou (China)
Not Verified | It is my first time to wait for my flight in the new departure lounge in this airport. It’s very spacious and well-decorated! There are a lot of restaurants and shops around. I didn’t feel bored at all during my waiting time

"don't trust the people that work there"
Isabelle Hanssen (Netherlands)
✅ Trip Verified | I flew from Amsterdam to Guangzhou with a 7.5 hour layover with China Southern. Before traveling I tried to find information about showers and lounges that you could enter without a membership and found many contradicting information. If you transfer internationally there is a Premium Lounge that allows you to pay for a 3 hour entry, this lounge has food, drinks, showers and bathrooms, it was comfortable and has great working wifi. Other than the terrible wifi in the airport. I paid about 37€ for 3 hours, and then decided to pay again cause I wanted to stay another 2 hours, which was fine. It got a bit busier later during the day, in the morning it was empty. Side note: Before going up to the Premium lounge I asked the lady at the information desk about showers and/or lounges where you could pay for one visit. She told me there were no showers and no lounges that allowed that. Her desk was right next to the lounge I went to. So don't trust the people that work there, they either don't know or don't care. I flew from AMS-CAN and CAN-AKL, and another NZ Domestic flight with Air NZ. I was allowed 2 Checked baggage. Carry on was suppose to be 5KG one piece, but I had a Trolley which weighed more than 10KG and a small backpack, this was fine and it didn't get checked. Hope this helps someone.

"ample seating in the waiting areas"
7 reviews Jayant Biswas (India)
✅ Trip Verified | The new terminal T2 is bigger and so walk times are much more. There are separate transit facilities for transit passengers. The immigration formalities were fast and smooth. The security check was also fast and smooth. There was ample seating in the waiting areas. No lounge facility was available since it is still under construction. Wifi got connected but there was no internet data. Shopping avenues are very few due to the newness of the terminal. Be prepared to walk a lot to your boarding gates.

"Friendly staff"

✅ Trip Verified | Friendly staff and easy immigration but most of them cannot understand and speak English well. At that time it's a little bit humid. Hot and cold water is available. Clean restrooms but no bidet.
