"useless, rude, and incompetent"
K Gordon (United States)
✅ Trip Verified | Our experience at the Granada airport was absolutely horrible. I am not sure if it was the airline (Iberia) or if it was because of the small size, but the service of all of the workers were completely useless, rude, and incompetent. Judging by the service, I’m assuming that Iberia gives no customer service training. First of all, one of us did not have a valid confirmation number although the payment went through and received a confirmation email. Afterwards, the attendant just sent us to a phone number which was hold and never answered. So we had to go to the Spanish number, but no one would help us to book a ticket or even help us call the phone. When we went to the service kiosk area, they left saying they had to catch the flight that we actually needed to go on. In fact, the flight we needed to book was not available online so we absolutely needed help from someone at the airport, but did not receive help until we talked to them multiple times. When we finally received help, the woman was rude and saying snide comments and only was able to help 15 minutes before. This was an absolutely horrid experience particularly for a very stressful event. We are very upset with the airline, but also at the airport for being rude and making it a more stressful situation (especially when it was not that hard of situation to fix). I hope for the future that this airport will improve vastly in order to be any form of actual competence. Thank god we had a native Spanish speaker within our group, if we didn’t we would have missed our flight and have to rebook for almost 4 times the price.

"lack of willingness to help travellers"
Francisco Bueno (United States)
Not Verified | We got to the airport 40 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Despite this, we were not allowed to check in our luggage in the plane because it was too late, even though the plane was no more than 300 yards away from where we were. Instead of trying to help us, they just ignored us and left us stranded in the airport. Because of this, we had to pay a $650 rescue fee in order to be rescheduled in the next morning's flight and not missing our connection on the next day. I have never seen that lack of willingness to help travellers. From now on, even though my final destination is Granada, I will be travelling to Malaga or Sevilla airport. People make a difference.

"small but clean airport"
A Ahmed (United Kingdom)
Not Verified | Really lovely, small but clean airport. Passport Control was really smiley and friendly and our bags were ready on the cute luggage belt by the time we were through which was quick albeit from a small BA Embraer jet. Toilets were absolutely spotless!

A very easy airport to use. Arriving on an evening Ryanair flight deplaning was quick passport control almost friendly and the airport bus was immediately outside to speed us to town for only 3€. Return was just as easy the security staff were friendly plenty of seating in both the main airport and the gate area. No WIFI but one rarely gets everything.

GRX is fairly spacious for a regional airport. Very clean marble interior with plenty of seats landside to use without having to buy anything (are you listening UK airports?) and even though it has only one cafe/restaurant - the food is usually great value edible and affordable (lots of tapas dishes too). Long/short stay parking amazingly cheap. Airbus service to city is aways available and there always seem to be plenty of taxis waiting outside. Very friendly security staff too. A good alternative to using Malaga airport.

GRX is a small regional airport. Boarding and disembarking aircraft is usually very quick due to the limited aircraft movements. Passenger facilities are limited waiting areas are small no lounges minimal eating outlets and taxi's are hard to come by (which is surprising for an airport). However some of the nicest security screening staff that I have ever come across always smiling and patient with passengers (UK and US staff can really learn something here!).

It is also worth pointing out that there are no shops beyond the security check at Granada airport. There is only a vending machine which sells water but which is regularly out of order. I suggest you eat well before arriving and buy any duty frees elsewhere. Like Málaga which is far better prepared for this kind of tourist traffic.

Granada Airport is located about 15km west of Granada. Single runway small terminal. Regular buses run into the city. If you arrive late no worries as it is only a short taxi ride. In recent years the number of flights have increased. Mainly to Madrid and Barcelona but with also Liverpool Stansted Melilla. The usual facilities for a small airport so don't expect too much.
