"Its a pretty bad airport"

Trip Verified | Its a pretty bad airport. The airport itself is not bad in terms of cleanliness or anything. But the experience at this airport leaves a lot to be desired. To begin with it is far too small and clearly does not have the capacity to handle a lot of traffic. The lines to go through immigration are utterly ridiculous. The line went literally from one end of the airport to the other. And moved at snails pace. People were missing their flights. Second issue is the rude and just "don't give an eff" attitude of much of the staff there. Nevermind that most can't even speak English. Provided you can even find anyone to help you or that gives a damn about helping you. This is really more like a provincial airport than an actual international airport. I have had far better experience at airports in developing African countries in terms of service. South Korea should be embarrassed by this joke of an airport. I would give a minus rating for the airport staff if I could. But sadly a single star will have to do.

"feels more like a train or bus station"

Trip Verified | Quite busy airport in South Korea. Arrival went relatively fast, since i arrived from Mongolia you had to fill a health declaration form at the airport which you could do on an iPad or simply write a paper form. Didn't take much time and also the queue to passport control wasn't very long. Luggage was already at the belt after clearing all formalities. Had a 9 hour layover in Busan so wanted to leave my luggage at the airport and upstairs they do have a left luggage office, so that worked nicely. Airport is connected to the metro network so moving around is easy. On departure later in the evening it was quite busy, it was difficult to find empty seat on airside. All seats are cramped in the middle of the corridor surrounded by shops and restaurants, you cannot really get by the window so not a good place for planespotting. Terminal feels more like a train or bus station.

"She couldn't speak English"

Trip Verified | Worst airport ever. Female guard working at the entry gate was rude. She couldn't speak English, so she was mumbling in Korean. People working at international airports should at least speak basic english. She wouldn't let me in because my boarding pass didn't have my middle name.

"Worst airport ever for welcoming foreigners"

Not Verified | Worst airport ever for welcoming foreigners. Arrived in the morning and there was a queue of around 100 foreigners and one immigration officer. Whilst the Korean passport holders breezed through. There is a sign which reads “Gimhae Airport, How Korea Welcomes the World”. What a joke.

"very bad service"

Not Verified | Staff do not speak English. I received very bad service from the staff that was in the Tax Refund desk beside Peach Airlines. He was very rude with me, shouting at me and he didn't speak any English. I couldn't get any tax refund from him. He was the rudest person I found in South Korea.

"not a family friendly place"

Trip Verified | My family and I were flying out of Gimhae International Airport to Hong Kong on March 26, 2019. After lunch (around 13:30), we decided to head to the departure gate. I was holding my two year old daughter and my wife was with my six year old son right behind us. We walked up to the airport staff and I handed him all four passports with boarding passes for inspection. This airport staff spoke Korean to me. Me being Chinese, I told him I do not speak Korean. He then proceeded to speak Korean to me again louder and in a condescending tone. I have no idea what he was saying to me. My wife (thank goodness she is Korean) came up to see what the problem was. This person repeated what he said in an even ruder tone toward my wife. At this point, I am extremely frustrated and I said to this person and I asked him if he spoke English. He ignored me and continued to address my wife in a disdainful manner. After a few exchanges, She found out that this airport staff does not speak any English and each passenger had to hold his/her own passport and boarding pass. This airport staff then inspected our passports and boarding passes in the most foul mood, without once apologizing to my wife nor me, and sent us through. Having the name Gimhae "International" Airport, I would assume that the first airport staff personnel any passenger meet would have the basic understanding of English. Isn't it his/her job to make passengers welcomed, greet them with courtesy and respect? I did not see or experience any of that at Gimhae "International" Airport. Gimhae should consider revising/updating its basic requirements when hiring staff. I believe each staff should at least know the English phrase to be able to perform his/her job properly, or maybe I'm expecting too much from Gimhae "International" Airport. Another thing is that there was no signage advising each passenger must pass on their own passport and boarding pass (even toddlers) for inspection. My family and I have been to many airports around and have never encountered this. After this incident, I have concluded that Gimhae "International" Airport is not a family friendly place.

"queue that was unbelievable"

Immigration queue was terrible. Queue was so long for arrival, and even longer for departure. The airport should do something about this. I have no complaints about the immigration officers, it was just the queue that was unbelievable. Could they please at least have dedicated lane for business class passengers? or at least provide a fast-track card?
