"airport to be avoided"
Pav Tolkach (United Kingdom)
Not Verified | Passengers in transit have to go through security checks - all alcohol bought at the departure airport had to be put in the bin! An hour lost for queue through security checks even though we were in transit! Staff ignored us when we asked to be fast-tracked so we dont miss our connected flight! Rude and unprofessional staff, chaotic and overloaded airport to be avoided if only possible! Never again! My worst experience!

"avoid Frankfurt by any means"
L Simpson (United States)
Not Verified | Probably the worst airport in Europe. I didn’t check the ticket that my secretary booked for me and didn’t notice that I had to go through this structural absurdity. Since, I consider to either fire her or spoil her coffee with Tabasco for at least a month. Flights are always late or connections are inefficient. They made us wait in the plane for one hour in Wroclaw because Frankfurt controllers don’t provide any authorization. It’s like there’s a constant storm over Frankfurt. In one word, avoid Frankfurt by any means, better to take a bus or a boat. Thank you Germany for your Deutsch Qualität, but you know what, keep it for yourself.

"Not one of the best experiences"
1 reviews C Baillie (Finland)
Not Verified | Not one of the best experiences! Having lived in Frankfurt years ago, I well remember the original terminal, which functioned very well, however when flying back to Finland the newer Terminal 2 was used. Having checked the check-in counter number carefully, it was not east to find, in fact it was touched away in a corner, with no obvious signage. I have always been critical of London Heathrow, but at least their signage is clear and continuous, something Frankfurt could learn from, in addition the air conditioning was awful, unpleasant and virtually non existent. The public toilets were, from what I experienced awful, filthy and lacking products, it is as though they have never been checked. Security was slow, with dated equipment, quite a contrast from leaving Helsinki, where it was quick, courteous and certainly the most up to date technology. Perhaps the management should look at these comments, as I am certainly not the only one to be disappointed with Frankfurt am Main airport.

"requested us to wait in a bus"
R Nabli (Tunisia)
✅ Trip Verified | To go from the gate to the airplane, the personnel requested us to wait in a bus. Wa have been waiting for 15 minutes in a tunnel where air circulation was not working (or working very poorly). The bus had its doors open and we were breathing for 15 minutes rejected air from cars, buses and other means of transport using that tunnel. One lady (passenger) was feeling bad and was about to fall down.

"no trolleys available"
C Duffy (New Zealand)
✅ Trip Verified | We departed from Frankfurt airport, flying to New Zealand via Singapore. We had a rental car for the duration of our 4 weeks stay and pick up and drop off are easy! My gripe is that there are no trolleys available immediately where you drop off the car. When I finally found the trolleys there is a €1 charge which can only be paid by credit card. These trolleys should be free of charge as for example in Singapore and many other airports around the world. There should be more food and beverage outlets near the Gates.

"chaotic organisation"
S Martin (Netherlands)
Not Verified | If you have to make an stop-over, awoid this airport! At least towards the evening. As delays at the huge airports are quite normal, the delay was known beafore the departure, and the stop-over is in Germany, there is no reason to worry - I thought. Lufthansa arrived to Split 2 hours later, picked us up, flew us to Frankfurt and basically left passengers wandering around discovering airport at night together with another several hundred travellers from different delayed planes. It seemed that the ground personnel is just as lost at Frankfurt airport as we passengers. But they still give you the direction, only in different directions. And curiously annoyed, untypical for Germans as I know them. Instead of Lufthansa 'transfer and information desk', as announced in the airplane, you should figure that your destination is actually by one of the the check-in's at lobby A. At the end of the second hour of standing in the second mega-line with hundeeds of people that lost connection flights, polite receptionist explains this is the every day situation unless Sheraton is fully booked. I was even lucky! And ground personal is probably annoyed because of the chaotic organisation and the same every day business with lost passengers. No choice for both parties, service users and employees.

"unprofessional and disrespectful staff"
A Johnson (United States)
Not Verified | Horribly unprofessional and disrespectful staff. After asking a question at the desk about checking a bag the gentleman rolled his eyes and called the next customer. Never received this type of treatment from American Airlines.

"Avoid this airport"
B Davidson (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | Avoid this airport. Baggage delivery took 45 minutes, not enough toilets, toilets dirty or broken. The security check is extremely inefficient. The staff are unpleasant. Terrible experience.

"avoid Frankfurt airport"
G Taylor (United Kingdom)
✅ Trip Verified | Lufthansa flight from BHX was delayed so 45 minute transit to Prague flight looked unlikely. LH drove us to the correct terminal where we queued at security channel B3. An excessively zealous security official was taking everything out of a rucksack while happily chatting to the passenger concerned. Other security staff members were hanging about doing nothing. My rucksack was sidelined into the manual check zone and another security lady checked my passport. some 15-20 minutes later I was getting seriously irked by the pathetically slow pace and expressed myself in loud but non perjorative English. Realising I had missed my connection I let a Teacher with a party of students jump the queue but not before said jobsworth security man had made a song and dance about it and wasted even more time. The lady who had read my passport then started haranguing me in German despite knowing I was English. I was not appreciative of this. She called her supervisor who hot stroppy in English and then a Policeman who was great. Allowing control freaks and chip-on-the shoulder jobsworths run airport security is nonsense. My wife had 2 x 30ml bottles of foundation and was told she shouldn't have them and was then allowed to keep them. Are they allowed or not? Make your mind up. This was confirmation, if it were needed, to avoid Frankfurt airport. Yes, I did try to comlain through official channels and the Fraport website wants to sell me food, airtickets and parking but can you find the complaints procedure? Of course not! Now my 16.35 flight has changed to a 21.45 flight. Lovely! I get to spend an extra 4 hours in this tearoom from Mars.

"airport has really deteriorated"
O Morton (Singapore)
Not Verified | Frankfurt airport has really deteriorated in terms of service and usability. Immigration was especially bad today, 8 July 2018. The staff were extremely unhelpful. This was despite being told that our flight was in 30 minutes and the queue extremely long. We were told to just wait! Well, we waited and waited until another staff member told us to go to a further passport control (by the way, we did ask if there was another passport control and were told to wait). We still didn't make our plane because the plane had left the gate before the departure time stated (another story) but if we were given clearer instructions at the first passport queue, we would have made the plane with time to spare. Not all the staff were bad, the last officer was very helpful but it was too late for us. The signage was not very good, we deplaned, the signs pointed us to go up, to a closed section and we had to go downstairs again. The officer there could have given directions rather than stand there. I felt bad for the families with kids, being dragged around.
