"poor attitude and little guidance"

(United Kingdom)

The signage to the car park we booked was "well disguised". Two trips through other car parks / £3 lighter and, with advice, our car park was found. Very long wait at check-in and little advice from staff. Security has been well reviewed in the past - let's just say the staff lived up to their reviews of poor attitude and little guidance. This was despite having Fast Track. The restaurant was unable to cope with the passenger numbers, service and table cleanliness. Result of the delays = little time buy magazines, etc. for the flight. Then, we were told that the flight was now delayed for a considerable time. as provision had not been made for the number of disabled passengers Inbound - only one exit used from the aircraft, long route (when the bus left) to the terminal, long time waiting for the bus to allow passengers to exit? Then, despite these delays, we, and other passengers, had to wait an eternity for the baggage. I remarked to my wife that the first experience of courtesy at the airport was when the immigration staff overheard us and tried to inject a bit of humour. Our next flight, due to the failures, has now been booked through Glasgow.

"security area is organized chaos"

(United Kingdom)

The management at this Airport need to take a long hard look at themselves and their Airport. In particular the Security area is organized chaos. All the staff I encountered were aloof, impatient off hand and in some occasions rude but the main thing is the chaos. You are asked at the check in if you have left your bags unattended but in the Edinburgh Airport security area you loose sight of your hand luggage for quite a number of minutes and the stress of not being able to see you hand luggage (which will normally contain a persons valuables) is unacceptable let alone who could walk off with it or even tamper with it. Although I only live 8 miles from Edinburgh Airport I will only be using it if or when I have to and will incur the extra cost to go to Glasgow Airport instead.

"resolve this mess"

(United Kingdom)

Having posted a review shortly after our trip and looked at further reviews since that time I must ask if the Management at Edinburgh pay any attention to the mostly very adverse comments and if so, do they ever intend to take any corrective action to resolve this mess.

"boarded with very little assistance at all"

(United Kingdom)

I booked a ticket "with wheelchair assistance" departing from Edinburgh Airport to Barcelona at 06.30 on 20/9/15 with my disabled husband. I arrived at the airport very early as you can imagine and immediately started to proceed in locating where this wheelchair assistance would be. After trying to find any staff that had woken up (to say the least) or any that would be bothered to even look at me when asking I was told 3 different stories on how to do this. Firstly, I was told to wait for the check-in to open by an extremely rude BA counter assistant at a check-in counter. Then I was told to wait at a designated area for wheelchair assistance prior to check-in. This area was completely cordoned off and you could not even sit there, never mind expect assistance from a human being. Then I was told to just wait where I was in the middle of the airport floor. You may find it interesting to note that whilst I am a Wonderwoman as a wife and carer to my disabled husband, even I was hard-pushed to accept these various instructions with 2 large suitcases, a disabled man in a wheelchair and some hand luggage. My husband was becoming more and more distressed as the time passed and nobody cared. Finally, after an hour and a half, more staff arrived who appeared to be awake. I then got more information on what to do, but still the wheelchair assistance section was still completely cordoned off with nobody in attendance. The staff said I was to dial for assistance so after climbing over a barrier, I did this to be told that there was no assistance because the person was off sick. Like this is my problem Edinburgh Airport. After checking in there was still no assistance so I went upstairs in the lift with my disabled husband in a wheelchair and only upon getting to the gate did some chaotic help arrive to provide supposed wheelchair assistance. We finally boarded with very little assistance at all. But, I must inform you that I have complimented Barcelona on their completely different, professional and exceptionally high standard of wheelchair assistance. Something that any disabled person would expect to take place. It was absolutely excellent. Shame on you, Edinburgh Airport, for the shoddy service and wake up - there's a whole world out there.

"the airport has a long way to go"

(United Kingdom)

So-so. Complaints about Edinburgh's security arrangements are commonplace, but it only took twenty minutes at 0800 on a Friday to get through. Strange, though, that they are not using all the scanning machines they have available. The changed security arrangements are OK once you are used to them, but I still think the airport has a long way to go in this respect, and this is probably costing them some domestic (GB) business. One plus for the airport is the tram access.

"unclear and conflicting information"

(United Kingdom)

Have been through Edinburgh Airport on numerous occasions in the past few years and always thought it to be an easy and pleasant experience. Not this last time though. Whatever they have done to the airport has been a gross mistake. To start off with the new building work that has been done makes the departure area very claustrophobic which is about the last thing a nervous flyer would wish to be prior to departure but that is not the main complaint I have. Going through the new Security Area is a nightmare. Everything and everybody jammed into a small space compared to how it used to. Aggressive and unhelpful staff with very unclear and conflicting information from them on how to progress through the area. A total shambles compared to how it used to be. Clearer information and signs and helpful staff is the least one should expect. That's not available at Edinburgh Airport. A disgrace to Scotland.

"security over complicated"

(United Kingdom)

Security over complicated compared to T5 Heathrow. Get Iris scan. Don't need staff to tell you where to stand. Staff raising voices at Chinese customer who did not understand them. Be patient Yo Sushi and other eateries shelves empty at 10.30 in the morning. Stock shelves more often. Toilets dirty and graffitied - keep them updated and clean.

"one of the worst to get through"

(United Kingdom)

The security hall is a shambles, I arrived 1hr 30 mins before my flight and almost missed it. It's a joke. I fly every week across Europe and this airport is one of the worst to get through.

"poor/non existent signposting"

(United Kingdom)

Just forked out nearly £62.00 for two and a half days in the "long-term" car park. I was so livid with rage. Great way to finish off a short break away, all the relaxation gone right out the window. Not only that but poor/non existent signposting to the shuttle bus meant my wife and I wandering around outside the airport for 20 minutes. Asked an airport employee for help and got sent totally in the wring direction. Sixty quid plus for couple of days parked outside in a poor low-security parking space? Never again.

"the security set-up is a major mess"

(United Kingdom)

Slow security with “forceful” staff. Leaving Edinburgh the security set-up is a major mess or as identified by another passenger a “dogs dinner”. What makes it worse if that the staff who are under pressure will often aggressively “request” people to do things that may not be sensible. If they don’t the Customer is told that they are not complying and there is a potential penalty. The facility and processes are designed in isolation of the real world and not they have to try and get people to fit the bad design. “FastTrack Security provides a dedicated lane for passengers to skip the queue and reach the security search area quicker than the standard passenger, allowing you more time to relax before your flight in our departure lounge.” When questioning why it was not running I was told that this is at the discretion of the staff based on the level of passengers at the time. So why pay the money? Irritating walk through duty free Departure area when there are a limited number of people that are eligible for. Getting into Edinburgh is a similar enjoyable situation. Once the luggage makes it out which can be a protracted time. Also you can hear the baggage being carefully placed on the conveyer so do not pack fragile items. The icing on the cake is that once you make it out there is a lovely aroma that supposedly comes from the local fertilizer storage. I am sure the Management of the airport is planning on upgrades but perhaps they can talk to passengers who may be able to point them in the right direction. Not a “capital airport”.
