"paradise for food lovers"

(United States)

New Delhi airport Terminal 3 is paradise for food lovers. Even if your international flight has arrived in late night or very early morning hours, you can still enjoy a hot meal after you clear immigration and collect your baggage. There are also plenty of clean restrooms available, including right after disembarking the aircraft. When catching a flight, you will need to show a copy of your travel itinerary to Police before you can enter T3 (This is in stark contrast to what US travelers are accustomed to). You also have to get your passport stamped by immigration officer as you are leaving India. The line can be long during peak hours (late night). Once you have cleared security, you are free to enjoy the many dining and shopping options available. This is a very big terminal, so wear comfortable footwear for long walks.

"clean and very well maintained"

(India)

Whenever I fly outside India I use this airport only. Very spacious airport, clean and very well maintained. Don't understand this criticism about security checks as that is extremely essential. International Duty free is spacious with a plethora of choices. All in all in my view the best Airport to fly from India.

"the airport can be very stressful"

(Russian Federation)

The airport is modern and clean but is not possible enjoy anything because the strict safety checks, if you go out from the terminal is impossible go back. The staff on the passport control were very slow, the security check can take over 30 minutes and the gates can be a very long distance from the entrance. I suggest to arrived at least 3 hours before your flight and have a lot of patience, the airport can be very stressful.

"the terminal is clean"

(India)

It is amazing how many people criticise this airport for things that are essentially out of its control and have nothing to do with the airport but everything to do with the country's policy. Not being allowed in to the airport without your ticket is a nationwide policy, not just restricted to Delhi Airport. Having all of your hand baggage tagged is a nationwide policy, not unique to Delhi airport, and people giving the airport a poor rating for this are being unfair if not incorrect. The heavy security, and inability to enter the airport more than 6 hours before your flight are nationwide issues as per the policy of the Indian Government, and not specific to Delhi Airport. Terminal (T3) - In general the terminal is clean, the check in and immigration is smooth and efficient. Security check can be sometimes be slow, sometimes very speedy depending on when your flight is leaving. If you're departing after 10 pm Friday/Saturday, you will pretty much get a huge rush at the airport, and security will be a bottleneck. At most other times, things run so efficiently that it seems like this huge airport is empty all the time, but that is not the case. It is just very good at processing people through it. Departure area has many shops including an electronics shop and multiple clothing stores offering reasonable prices. The food is so-so but there are a few choices there. Arrival is equally smooth, with multiple immigration counters, a great duty free and very fast baggage claim. Outside the terminal yes, things are chaos - but that's India, not the airport. To magically expect people to learn traffic rules as soon as they approach the airport when they have no idea about them otherwise is a little foolish. Terminal 1 (T1) - This is the domestic terminal which caters specifically to low-cost airlines only, and is therefore built accordingly. To those who are unaware, this terminal was meant to be demolished, and all traffic was meant to go through T3, however, they decided to retain the building as it was perfectly functional, although it is now over capacity. As this is the terminal serving low cost airlines, there are no aerobridges here - you approach your airline through buses. The terminal itself is undergoing renovation so shops are currently sparse, but otherwsie check in is not difficult.

"no facilities whatsoever at the airport"

(India)

Its sad to come back to T3 after my holiday abroad. IGI T3 have no facilities whatsoever at the airport. I was so hungry and just wanted to eat Indian food, but I found nothing at the airport, just one small shop inside that just had snacks and biryani. I only saw 2 cafes and 2 liqueur shops. Really have to wonder if it really is a world class airport with nothing for passengers. If you travel outside India you see many people at the airport wanting to help you but here you see only security guards who don’t seem to know anything. It’s just like a bus terminal, nothing else. I am very disappointed.

Delhi Airport customer review

(India)

Travelled to Delhi on work and arrived at T1. Arrivals quick and easy. Departure same evening from T1 on Indigo. Check in smooth. Security line was 15 mins. Once through all this its chaos. No place to sit if you want to eat. No power outlets for phones and computers anymore. To board you have to go down and there are normally 5-10 flights boarding and its quite a mess unlike the spacious T3.

(United Kingdom)

The security checks at this airport on arrival and departure is like a scene from a carry on film, totally chaotic and undescribeable until you experience it, our party which included a 8 yr old child was split up into different parts of the passport/security check areas and when my brother tried to explain that he was with his 8 yr old daughter a laugh was his answer - uncaring staff whose only aim is to make life difficult for us the fare paying passenger.

Delhi Airport customer review

(India)

Flew in on Indigo so was at the low cost terminal. Quick bus service and baggage collection. Flew out from T3 back to Mumbai. A Check in was quick but security takes a while. Queuing time should be reduced as it is a large airport and the walk to the gate is long. Shops and eating places are plenty. Walk to the gates are long - luckily I got a gate near by. The carpeting is ridiculous and a bad idea in a hot and humid climate to have carpets. They already smell. Otherwise efficient airport.

Delhi Airport customer review

(Italy)

I had a 6 hour transit at DEL, the security check was quick which was surprising. The shopping space was pretty decent with reasonable prices. The restaurants were not bad but a bit overpriced. Here comes the problem, when connecting to the wifi, you can't connect to the internet when you have a foreign SIM card, it can be done only with an Indian SIM card which is disappointing. The overall experience was not bad.

Very clean, relatively new airport with quick efficient service. On arrival, through border control and collected bags within 30 minutes. On departure checked in and through security within 20 minutes. Plenty of seating at gates and good choice of food and drink, although not cheap! Toilets are spotless. Overall a good airport.
