"inefficient custom and security checks"
Constantinos Demetriades (Singapore)
The airport is new and well designed. However, it has the most outrageously inefficient custom and security checks. Just for transit, we spent 1 hour and 45 minutes to go through the arrival security check, and not because it was crowed, but simply because the staff needed 10-15 minutes checking each passenger. Furthermore, the WiFi doesn't work anywhere (try your luck with that Tata Docomo service, it won't help). Still, there were some decent food options and the temperature was pleasant. But if I had a choice, I would never pass this place ever again.

"huge and very uncrowded"
1 reviews Ashutosh Garg (India)
Delhi Airport's Terminal 3 is huge and very uncrowded. Check in took 5-15 minutes with another 5-10 minutes for Security. Domestic wing has two lounges, Premium Plaza and Air India with the third one being constructed (Vistara). Clean with multiple washrooms. On arrival, it took me 5 minutes from the airport to baggage belt. But baggage took 15 minutes to arrive. Overall, smooth and hassle free experience.

"not there to enjoy music"
Nishant Khanna (India)
Delhi is a major airport. Being a silent airport, there should be no noise. They have started a facility of playing Hindi songs non-stop. It is not only irritating, but extremely inhuman. Everyone at the airport is not there to enjoy music.

"very large and nicely maintained"
Vishal Dalela (Canada)
I was returning from my Holidays in India. New Delhi airport (T3) is very large and nicely maintained. It has all the amenities that a modern airport can have and is comparable to most of the good airports around the globe. I have two issues with this airport: 1) Long line ups and waiting time at immigration at arrival and departure: International flights mostly arrive at this airport between midnight and early morning, with large numbers of passengers coming in or going out the immigration becomes bottleneck, line ups are not clearly designated, movement is very slow leading to chaos. 2) Air conditioning at the airport is poor. I have used this airport 6-7 times now and its hot - not normal, its hot inside and makes one feel very stuffy. In my case both my kids started itching so bad due to heat that we had to literally strip them of clothes. Airport authorities must do something about it, otherwise its a good airport in all other respects.

"Duty Free shopping is a joke"
Jeffrey Tannenbaum (United States)
Delhi Airport is better for arrival than departure. Of note is that on arrival and departure if you fly Business Class there are special lines at Customs and Immigration that save you a lot of time. It was worth it just to avoid these long lines. Duty Free shopping is a joke. Prices are ridiulous. The worst part about the dparture was the near lack of A/C even in the lounges. It was quite warm. Security is excelllent and quite thorough.

"terminal is beautifully decorated"
Jim Kemp (United Kingdom)
Modern, light and airy arrivals area. The psychedelic beige and yellow carpet is somewhat startling but the walk to immigration was swift and after some initial confusion (mine) regarding immigration forms I was quickly ushered towards passport control. The queues were building for international arrivals but I was directed to the Indian nationals channel, where I had my visa checked and passport stamped and I headed to baggage reclaim. I found my pack after a 5 minute wait at the carousel and headed to customs. A cursory glance and a wave of the hand and I was through! The airport terminal is beautifully decorated and equipped with clean, modern bathroom facilities. It's equal, and in some cases far superior to, many western airports. It really is a testament to modern India. The return journey was equally efficient, though security seemed much tighter on the way out of the country with rigorous searching and questioning. I was through security and in the departure Lounge in around 45 mins. The airport has the usual array of restaurants, lounges, shops, an outdoor smoking area and a bar which made for a pleasant wait for my Jet Airways flight. All in all it was a pleasant experience and one which I look forward to repeating.

"bottle of water went through scanners unmentioned"
V Simon (Australia)
Hauled over by security to be searched more thoroughly. It turned out that I had two SD cards and an RFID wallet in my body belt that needed further inspection. I mean microscopic further inspection. It was not noticed however, that the 500ml bottle of water in my hand luggage that I had forgotten to drink before entering security went through the scanners unmentioned. I arrived at the lounge, airside, before I realised I still had this. Have rules been relaxed about how many millilitres can be taken in ones hand luggage these days?

"If I could avoid Delhi airport, I would"
Bobbie Ball (Australia)
On arrival on 15 October, there were hundreds of people trying to line up at the customs desks. There was no supervision so people were pushing in to the badly marked off lines. It took 3 and a half hours to get to the desk, manned by only 2 people at times and sometimes 3 (after his break) The whole experience was a nightmare at 11pm. On departure, on 2 November, no one seemed to have any idea of where to send us when asked and we had to keep asking. If I could avoid Delhi airport, I would.

"paradise for food lovers"
41 reviews Anurag Dave (United States)
New Delhi airport Terminal 3 is paradise for food lovers. Even if your international flight has arrived in late night or very early morning hours, you can still enjoy a hot meal after you clear immigration and collect your baggage. There are also plenty of clean restrooms available, including right after disembarking the aircraft. When catching a flight, you will need to show a copy of your travel itinerary to Police before you can enter T3 (This is in stark contrast to what US travelers are accustomed to). You also have to get your passport stamped by immigration officer as you are leaving India. The line can be long during peak hours (late night). Once you have cleared security, you are free to enjoy the many dining and shopping options available. This is a very big terminal, so wear comfortable footwear for long walks.
