"60 minutes to get your passport stamped"

(South Africa)

Not Verified | 60 minutes to get your passport stamped. A disgrace and embarrassment watching foreign travelers missing flight because 3 out of 14 desks operating. Even the officer that stamped my passport said this happens every year and managers don't care. Surely with all the unemployment the government can do better than this.

"one of the best little airports"

(South Africa)

Verified Review | SA378 / 11 Oct 17, CPT-JNB. Early morning checking at 04H45. SAA check in staff not overly friendly. Long queues went quickly with friendly ACSA & security staff guiding and managing the early morning peak traffic to many X-ray machines. Free wifi and newspapers at all food outlets. Still one of the best little airports out there - clean, friendly, uncongested. Love my airport!

"efficient, fast and friendly"

(South Africa)

Cape Town airport check-in at SA Airlink quick and efficient. Security check queues long but moved quickly with friendly security staff expediting the procedure. Bussed to aircraft for boarding. Experience through this airport is always a pleasure- airy, modern, clean, efficient, fast and friendly.

"service is fast and efficient"

(United States)

Verified Review | This is a small but nice airport. The best feature is the VAT Tax refund counter - it is located at check-in. This way you can show your purchase to the Tax agent and then pack them in your bags and check the bags in. The service is fast and efficient. The refund is issued in the form of a credit card. The airline check-in counters are easy to reach and security etc is well organized. Our early morning check in had no lines. After security check there are stores and a big Mugg and Bean coffee shop. Nice airport.

"Terminal easy to manoeuvre through"

(South Africa)

Verified Review | Cape Town to Johannesburg on Mango Airlines JE134 / 22 Aug 2016 / 06H00 and same day return JNB-CPT on JE147 / 14H30. Electronic online check-in and boarding passes issued for both sectors from home meant I had to be at the gate at 05H30. Long security queues moved extremely fast and organised with polite friendly staff greeting half awake passengers. Terminal easy to manoeuvre through. Clean, tidy with enough eateries pre and post security. Unlike Johannesburg ORTIA, Cape Town remains the best airport in this country.

"PA system wasn't loud enough"

(United Kingdom)

We arrived in Cape Town in February and passed through Immigration and Customs within about 40 minutes or so from a full Emirates flight. On our return at the beginning of March everything went smoothly through check-in and passport control, until the boarding procedure at gate A26. A26 is at the end a long and narrow seating area with four rows of seats and it was very busy with passengers waiting for the Emirates flight to Dubai. When the check-in staff appeared they tried to sort out the passengers into the relevant boarding zones which is where it all went wrong. The PA system wasn't loud enough to hear the staff instructions, so unable to hear what was being said people just stood where they were. The staff then tried to move passengers into their relevant zones which was impossible in such a confined space therefore passengers were completely mixed up through class of travel and zones, it was basically a free for all to board the plane. Generally speaking Cape Town is a nice airport, but they need to sort out their PA system.

"very clean and spacious"

(South Africa)

My home airport and always a joy to come back. Easy to use, very clean and spacious. Arrived on a flight from Addis Ababa and was at the back of the plane. Very quick through passport check and bags waiting on the carousel. Easy through customs and picked up the shuttle bus within 30mins of landing. Staff always pleasant and helpful.

Cape Town Airport customer review

(United Kingdom)

A wonderful airport to travel through except for the ridiculous amount of customs desks on the green lane when coming in from overseas. Are these people for real? Have they been given instructions to chase overseas visitors away? Surely South Africa needs as many tourists as possible? This is going to put the word out that they should avoid it for sure. I've had a couple of trips to Cape Town since Christmas and been stopped both times with no contraband carried. British readers would recognise them as 'Jobsworths' who need to tick boxes to keep their jobs. Very irritating and very intimidating.

Cape Town Airport customer review

(Switzerland)

Cape Town Airport was voted the best airport in Africa and it is easy to see why: it is fairly new very clean and very efficient. Employees are very friendly and the toilets spotless. The security is top notch and very efficient and fast (American airports could learn a lot here). The only down side is the arrival level: whoever designed it must have been drunk because when you arrive you have to walk to the far-end of the building collect your luggage and walk all the way back (can be as far as 800m)!

Cape Town Airport customer review

(United Kingdom)

Security checks were lacking at Cape Town airport and did not come anywhere near the high levels experienced at other airports throughout the world. We took a flight on 3rd March 2014 to London. We were not asked to declare any liquids not asked to empty pockets or remove belts jewellery shoes coats or anything. Needless to say the scanner alarm sounded when we both passed through the arch due to the various metal items in pockets or on our persons. We were then very briefly 'patted down' as was every other passenger. I would be very uneasy about taking flights from Cape Town until they tighten up significantly on their security procedures.
