"I hate Brisbane Airport"

(Australia)

Not Verified | I hate Brisbane Airport and all who have made it a nightmare. Absolutely appalling and probably the worst arrival experience we have ever had. I knew that the arrival experience was bad, ie it has been the last three times we've arrived back in Brisbane; but this was absolutely disgusting. We arrived from Singapore at 7.52 - why is it airlines seem to have the most dreadful departure and arrival times? Got to the first customs where there were queues which if added together would be about half a kilometre. Luckily we are Oz residents and were able to go through quite quickly, ie about 15 minutes; and watched the poor gits in the non residents queue. Off to the luggage bit and some luggage was going around. Then a lot of luggage was going around but most of the luggage belonged to the poor sheep who were still queueing up at customs. 40 minutes later a security chappie came along and asked us questions about our luggage. No idea said me because it hasn't arrived yet. The luggage computer won't allow new luggage to drop from the main carousel unless there is a space (I presume). There was no space because customers were still queuing up to get through custom so the luggage went round and round and round and round. We finally managed to get through the whole dreadful experience one and a half hours later. Been there, done that in the appalling Brisbane International service, and it's an absolute nonsense where us poor people, who have been flying for 30 hours (we did from Edinburgh) then have to wait one and a half hours. Addendum: Just yesterday a cousin arrived from Scotland. It only took one and a quarter hours and along with quite a few money grubbing, car parking airports in the world, you can no longer drive your car to the arrivals and pick up your relative. You have to park 200 metres away where you are allowed a free 10 minutes. I did a circuit and received a free 10 minutes because the lovely parking attendants told me what to do. I eventually gave up and stopped for the next 10 minutes. Cost was $23.

"not the way to treat passengers"

(Australia)

Not Verified | Arrived at Brisbane International Airport at 7am on a Saturday morning. Short delay while waiting for someone to turn up and operate the airbridge. Get through passport control in about five minutes. Get to the baggage hall and find a queue/line that has a line to join the line. The line snakes around the baggage hall before going into a roped off series of lanes. These double back up and down the hall before leading to a further roped off series of lanes. It takes an hour to get through this Customs/Border Force shambles. This is a disgrace. Brisbane International Airport and the Australian Government take a fee from every passenger that passes through the airport. The Airport Company is a monopoly and clearly doesn't care what level of service is provided. To say nothing of the black uniformed "Border Force " agents snapping at lined up passengers for various imagined infringements associated with moving forward in a line. This is not the way to treat passengers. The terminal itself is grubby and dirty. The baggage hall is awful. I can find nothing positive to say about this airport.

"An embarrassment to the city"

(Australia)

Not Verified |  Worst Airport in the world. Starts with security staff yelling orders like in the army. When politely replying to them get yelled at more. After immigration its like a ghost town. Every eatery food place closed. Toilets dirty like at a truck stop in the middle of knowhere. An embarrassment to the city.

"looks like it needs a good refurbishment"

(Australia)

Not Verified | For an international terminal Brisbane is not as hectic and chaotic as Sydney or Melbourne. Check in process and security screening went smoothly. Airside is adequate without being anything outstanding. Food options and shops are ok, nothing special. Departure with Qatar there was no proper lounge, with people queuing up in the walkway. Seating in the terminal is very uncomfortable with most seats being hard timber. Overall the terminal is functional but dated and looks like it needs a good refurbishment.

"not something you want to use"

(Australia)

Not Verified | I live in Brisbane and use this airport often. Toilets are filthy, not maintained and frankly not something you want to use. Carpets not cleaned, overpriced with outdated and inadequate hand baggage security. Many 3rd world airports are cleaner and better run. And to think they plan the Olympic Games in a few years, what a joke airport.

"worst major airport in Australia"

(Australia)

Not Verified | I have been travelling to or transiting via Brisbane airport for the last 35 years, since 1988. I can not see any thing has change here. It's the worst major airport in Australia hands down. Looks old and dim, directions, signage colours and atmosphere is absolutely a disgrace. Transit via here is a nightmare if you have hour and half between flights and you are highly likely not going to make it (and this is not your preference, airlines allocate your connection flights) Security is slow and lethargic. Even if you let them know that you have a connecting flight soon, I don't think they care and I have spoken to many and has happened to me few times, you barely make it to your connecting flight without any checked in luggage and travelling very light. I don't shop at the airport so not much to say about that and have never made it to a members lounge while travelling overseas and haven't had time. I feel for the tenants here and thousands travelling through this airport with barely making to the flights on time, not having time to shop. C'mon BAC get your head out of sand and move with the time!!

"hasn’t been cleaned at all"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | This is my first visit to this airport transit to Newcastle with both of my grandsons from Western Australia. We were at the charging station to charge our phones. Unfortunately none of the power points working. To top it off, the charging stations tables are filthy and appear hasn’t been cleaned at all. I have to use my hand sanitizer and tissues to clean the tables and the tissues colour turned out dark brown to black colour. Cleanliness should be the priority especially at any airport with the Covid-19 issues. We should learn from Countries like Singapore Airports. I hope my next visit to Brisbane Airport has a better outcome.

"a very poor introduction to Brisbane"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | My first time arriving at Brisbane International terminal was 20 Nov 2022. I have normally come through the domestic. There was a free short term parking area for pick ups a couple of years ago. My daughter had to pay $21 for one hour in a waiting area! The last three airports I visited in California last month all had free parking areas to wait for incoming flights. I headed out the front terminal doors and was told the pick up area was for taxis only! The personal pick up area was up another walkway and quite a walk from the terminal. It was much worse than the airport I left from in California with a local population of under 100,000! It was like a third world pick up area and a very poor introduction to Brisbane for overseas visitors who have friends pick them up.

"Brisbane Airport is a disgrace"

(Australia)

Trip Verified | At 8pm there is no where to get food except for a few potato chips and lollies. There is no where near enough seats at the boarding gates! You can not find anywhere to charge your phone and this is a airport in a capital city! On the other hand Cairns airport in a small country city has about 4 times as many seats at the gates. Many food options that are open early and late. Plus lots of USB charge ports and power points. Brisbane Airport is a disgrace!

"thick dust sitting on the top of the wall "

(United Kingdom)

Trip Verified | Sitting now in the Airside domestic departures lounge near the Merlo Espresso kiosk and looking above it. The high walls around the air vents are filthy and there’s thick dust sitting on the top of the wall mounted speaker. Just hope none of it drops on the food or drinks!
