Found the airport to be fast efficient and clean. Signage easy to understand and baggage arrived quickly. Only issue is with the taxis. A US$3.50 "exit tax" added to every fare plus another $4 toll to go through one of the tunnels into Boston. BOS to Long Wharf / Ferry terminals (a 10 minute ride) is about US$30 with tip. I'm guessing $6 a mile at least.

Flying out of Boston Logan on March 11 was a nightmare. They have the new body scanners and TSA staff don't know how to use them and then they did not have back-up when the one in our line went down. The lines were backed up to the front doors and when we finally made it to put our items on the security line - they were letting other passengers in front of us. After we had been in line for 1hour 20 minutes - with no explanations why. Everyone was upset. Then after the whole body scanner everyone got a body search. 2 lines over however they didn't have the "new scanners" so people were going thru those lines very quickly. The attendants and TSA staff bringing other passengers in front of us would not explain and in some cases ignored questions from passengers seeking answers.

Although Boston Logan is a rather large international airport (though not as large as JFK LAX and Heathrow) it is designed to feel as if it is not a chaotic bustling place. The security check-in and lounges are placed conveniently to the point that if you are making use of one. TSA people were professional and organized as well as the valet help desk and information. Two gripes - the baggage claim signal is rather annoying in that it goes for 15 blares and the Massport officials are still working on a design plan for the B terminal. They need to remodel it soon! Signage from the Mass Pike and the city are superb and the whole place is a delight to navigate.

As mentioned an adequate airport. I would describe it as one of the smaller major airports-- at least that is the impression gets within one of the individual separated terminals. Not a large variety of shops and restaurants but enough to get by. Taxis into town are expensive but there is also the Silver Line bus/trolley into the waterfront area and which connections to the regular subway system and a free (I think) bus that goes to another subway stop on a different line.

Surprisingly fast queue through immigration/passport/customs despite many hundreds of people arriving from other transatlantic flights then a 10 minute taxi ride to my downtown hotel. Return flight even better! A 15 minute taxi ride to Logan and the new very nice Virgin Clubroom. What a place to wait for boarding!

Flew in and out in late June with minimal queues both ways and helpful staff. The only criticism is the limited range of shops in the international departure lounge and that all the airline lounges are windowless.

Flew into Boston from Philadelphia and flew out of Boston to Charlotte both with US Airways. Facilities within the airport are nice. However if one had to connect in Boston with two different airlines it would be horrific as the airport is divided up between 5 or 6 separate terminals with no way to get from one to the other without leaving security from one and having to re-enter security at another.

A reasonable airport which serves its function satisfactorily. Immigration was quick and painless and without the usual aggressive cross-questioning I get as a solo female traveller - a great relief. The information desk was open and the staff member helpful and I got a taxi into town almost straight away. The return leg was okay - KLM/NWA check-in is self-service and efficient - but was slightly dampened by the disorganised security staff (how many times must people show their boarding passes?!) and lack of choice of somewhere to eat after passport control; but eventually Houlihan's proved a reasonable option with friendly bar staff and quick service. The rocking chairs in the departure lounge were a nice touch.

Have been a frequent LHR to Logan passenger for years the last 3 with a child. The only good thing going for Logan is the short walk from the gate to immigration. Otherwise Logan is surprisingly incredibly baby/child-unfriendly particularly when one is travelling on one's own. Baggage handling takes forever. The pushchair promised immediately on exiting the aircraft as at LHR never materializes. It doesn't arrive in the baggage hall until LONG after the last of the baggage have cleared somewhat battered. It's not easy trying to carry a car seat with a baby in it hand luggage and gather baggage simultaneously. Other passengers waiting in the same predicament often take pity and offer help which is just as well as the personnel are insolent and unsympathetic. After 3 journeys of said experience I gave up and bought a Sit 'N Stroll but continue to see families waiting forlornly for their pushchairs to arrive. This is in contrast to LHR a much- maligned airport where I've always had every assistance I required as soon as I stepped off the plane
