"Very unfriendly staff"

Not Verified | Very unfriendly staff, almost aggressive. Very slow check in. 20 euro for cheeseburger and 5 euro for a coca cola, 6 euro for a coffee. Never experienced this before and we travel a lot. I will never go there again. Better go with Izmir airport.

"This place is an absolute joke"

Not Verified | This place is an absolute joke. The new amenities are useless, there are lots of staff doing nothing and the Covid-19 checks and extra security checks means everything takes 3 times as long with long queues. The only water you can get is from a vending machine or the only food booth charging extortionate prices. This place is the worst I've ever experienced including Moscow! The new management should be held accountable and sacked.

Not Verified | Perfectly adequate facilities spoilt by sullen, even aggressive staff. The place is expensive and food availability and options poor as you would expect. In contrast Izmir airport two hours to the North is altogether different so if travelling to a destination anywhere north of Bodrum give that consideration. They also have more extensive flight options.

"Woefully inadequate seating"

Not Verified | Problems with arrival and departure. Arrival: Arrived an hour late at 23.00. Three flights worth of passengers, about 500 people, arrived in passport control together. Six passport gates. All staffed but none working. Lights above each gate indicating which type of arrivals for which gate. Lights kept changing. Staff kept arriving and leaving each gate. No info displayed or given. After around 60 minutes, they started processing us. Total time from arrival to transfer coach, around 2 hours. Pretty inexcusable I’m afraid, given that they knew the flights were arriving, and when. Departure: no signage as to which queue to join, reliant on wandering Jet2 staff for info. Airport staff at initial security check very surly. Food and duty free area too busy, food and drinks expensive, duty free prices a lot higher than UK high street on average. Woefully inadequate seating. No helpful info. A further security check was suddenly invoked but only for gates 201 and 202. This was so slow that it would have jeopardised our departure, had we not already been delayed. No info at all about delay. Around 90 mins at gate with 8 staff and no info. No toilets for this time without going beck through security checkpoint. The security check at the departure gate was the FIFTH and last. Question, if you need to do a fifth security check, are you not admitting that at least one (I’m being polite here) of your previous checks was a little bit of a waste of time? Only actually arrived at Manchester about 40 mins late, but that’s not an achievement, it’s an indication of the fraudulent amount of slack built into the flight times, a practice which is only “bettered” by the UK rail industry.

"The atmosphere was dreadful"

Not Verified | We flew to Bodrum from London Gatwick for our two weeks holiday. We didn’t experience much at arrival due to future bookings with the shuttle company and the hotel. But on our way back to the UK we certainly had a better idea as to how unwelcoming this airport is. The queues were immense and worst thing of all in a country that doesn’t fall under EU data roaming, no WIFI available. When we asked a guard as to why, we were baffled with the response: to keep their employees off their mobile phones and working. Must I mention that our flight with Thomas Cook was an hour and half delayed?! Well, it was. And we had no way to communicate with the people at home waiting for us. The atmosphere was dreadful, we were kept at the gate in an enclosure like cattle. People had to ask for permission to go to toilet or put things in the bins and make sure they carry their passport with them for when they are back they would be searched again. Dreadful experience, I do not recommend nor will I ever ever fly again there.

"food is limited"

Decently clean airport compared to the Istanbul ones. Access to the city is acceptable with a 45 minute shuttle costing around 3 Euros. Food is limited and expensive as in all Turkish airports.

The check in experience, passport control and security were very good. However I was subject to further security search at the gate. I am cabin crew so therefore understand the need for further checks. However when selecting the passengers to check they did not stop the boarding queue. Meaning speedy boarding which I had was made irrelevant. They queue should be stopped while the search completed so that passengers board in the order that they have paid. I am shocked that this has been overlooked as speedy boarding is a big part of our Easyjet customer focus and helps passengers return to us

BOD has a 2nd terminal for low cost carriers called BILLI. This is now the busiest section of the airport but about one tenth the Size of the main terminal. It is a newly constructed windowless shed, the worst space I have ever been in. The management is chaotic with about a 1000 people congregated in a small overheated shed. On arrival the overbearing smell of sewage was Stifling. On Departure due to lack of organisation 100's of people packed into a tiny space all fighting to get to through passport control. Shame on all concerned including the low cost carries such as Ryanair and Easyjet who operate to this airport.

The new terminal is much bigger and better than the old one. There are 8 gates now and a massive departure area where you can easily find a place to sit and wait for your flight. Check in is quite fast. Ground crew is friendly and doing their job well. The only thing is that some ground crew members are better to improve their English a little bit. PA announcements is a rare thing in the new terminal and it is very hard to understand them. But I think the management is still working on improvement and soon BJV airport becomes one of the best airports in Turkey. Keep working!

Bodrum Airport customer review

We have flown into Bodrum airport many times arriving and departing from the old smaller terminal which was always very busy with no where sit if many flights were departing or if you were delayed. We have just visited Turkey again and flew into Bodrum and used the brand new terminal. What a difference! It is more than double the size of the older building built over three levels with all the "mod cons" including airbridges so gone are the days with having to use aircraft stairs and buses to reach the terminal building and the aircraft on your return. It is very clean and well laid out with plenty of seats. Yes it is still very expensive to buy drinks and food but what airport is not! The duty free shop is massive. A job well done and it was a pleasure to use! Roll on next time!
