“security check is a joke”
Thierry Guillaume (France)
Not Verified | Simple airport but security check is a joke compared to the 37 other airports I used. A usb cable is considered electronics and is rechecked separately, tooth paste is repacked into a plastic bag. I go through this airport 10 times per year and it is the only one my bags don't go through first pass. Not a single time! Out of these 30 or 40 re-checks of my bags they never found anything wrong. Like I said it is a joke.

"airport is often dirty"
Clément Marquis (Denmark)
✅ Trip Verified | Worst location ever. The airport is far from any city, as if it was a low-cost like Beauvais or Charleroi. 80-90 minutes to reach Aahrus with your car or 105 minutes with a bus. 60 minutes to reach Esbjerg with you car or 80 minutes with a bus. The airport is often dirty.

"there were no family queues"
G Fagirdóttir (Iceland)
✅ Trip Verified | Firstly there were no family queues, so I had to wait in line for 20 min with two crying 18 month old toddlers. We were not allowed to take the twin stroller upstairs, they said it was to big for the security check, which was wrong, would have gone through easily. Most twin strollers are designed to fit standard doors and a wheelchair bigger then our stroller rolled through easily. But the danish computer says no mentality was not budged. Anyway, we had to hold crying twins and the hand luggage (a lot of luggage comes with two toddlers), while the stroller was folded and marked. After that the guy said “then you take it to the odd size luggage desk”. Yup holding a folded twin stroller while holding a crying toddler is super easy. Going through security (no priority for baby families), we had no place to put the toddlers while taking out electronics, liquid baby food etc. out of the bags so they were running around crying. Finally after coming through security there were some strollers available at the airport (“very nice strollers” as put by the guy that checked us in). There were 6 strollers there, 4 were broken, so we took the two dirty ones that were left. Never ever flying through there with toddlers again!

"some of the friendliest staff"
1 reviews B Horben (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | There were no people at the airport, it may be due to the Corona virus but they have smiling staff at checkin. I had to wait for a staff, unfortunately, but she was incredibly helpful, calm and smiling. Their security staff may seem a little stiff, this day was not busy, but they still did not have the profits for a smile. However, they must be praised for being very quick to get guests through. This airport had a passenger record a few years ago, with 3 million passengers annually, therefore, they chose to expand the airport. But instead of giving passengers the more space they deserve, they chose instead to expand their very fine lounge, which is never filled, as well as the office for the staff - a disgrace to people who travel a lot. The design of the airport is great even though it is old. as mentioned, the staff are some of the friendliest staff and they are the reason why I love coming here. On a busy day of travel, it is impossible to find a place outside the lounge to sit down.

"Kind, friendly staff!"
M Cooper (Germany)
✅ Trip Verified | Kind, friendly staff! I was due to travel back to Frankfurt on 9th February when Storm Ciara/Sabine hit Northern and Central Europe. My Lufthansa flight was cancelled before I left for the airport and I was rebooked via text message onto two SAS flights - Billund-Oslo then Oslo-Frankfurt the next day. Unfortunately, after 3/4 hour at the gate on the Monday, my SAS flight was cancelled for technical reasons. There was no SAS rep at the airport so we all had to call their call centre to rebook our flights. I was pretty frustrated but an SAS employee at the call centre was friendly enough when I got through and told me my flight had already been rebooked, though I hadn't had a text message or mail at that time. The Billund airport staff I spoke to couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful. Their hands were tied as they weren't responsible for rebooking our flights but they went out of their way to guide me and fellow passengers. I had had no info from the airline about the chance of booking a hotel/meal vouchers etc. but one kind airport employee took it into his own hands and sorted it all out for me, booking a room and printing a voucher (which they could clearly then redeem from SAS). In short, not much more than an hour after the flight cancellation announcement, I was in an airport hotel room and had time to have dinner and relax before flying the next morning (which all happily worked out). I often fly to and from Billund airport and it's one of my favourites - comfortable, good design, good shops, cafes and restaurants, plenty of seating, perfect view of the runway, etc. Since that day, I've added friendly staff to my list of positives.

Billund Airport customer review
Eveline Lau (Hong Kong)
Travelled from HKG to FRA then to Billund for a business trip. A tiny airport with insufficient facilities. A serious lack of staff while they were not helpful at all already. Self check-in machines available but not enough assistance at all. Medium length queues but moving very slowly.

Billund is an excellent airport with good facilities practical layout and friendly and efficient staff. My only gripe is the airport bus which is extortionate (DKK180 to Aarhus) and runs at often perplexing times that seem to have no correlation to when major flights are landing. I've travelled here every other month from various UK airports for about 2 years and sometimes have to wait up to 2 hours to get away. As the airport is far from where most foreign travellers want to be (unless they really like Lego) you often have little option but to wait for the bus or pay even more for a taxi.

My favourite airport. Fast efficient and very pleasant. Easy to get to easy to navigate check-in and security is always fast and friendly and the lounge above Security is great. Extremely roomy and classy great for work or relaxation even offers open smoker's cabins that don't feel like a cage - and a chess game for those with plenty of time. Almost everywhere in the airport can you overlook the runway and the whole place is just modern roomy and open. The airport size is an advantage without doubt - the distances between parking check-in security lounge gate and flight are minimal so getting in and out is always a pleasure. Much better than Copenhagen in almost all aspects.

This is a fantastic airport. Short walking distances nice staff good easy-to-navigate easy-to-use layout a stress-free atmosphere nice cafés. I used Billund as a transit passenger on my way from Copenhagen to Berlin and my only minor remark is that the TRANSIT signs just pointed to a locked door. I had to walk back exit and go through security again. Never mind there was no queue and I doubt the locked door is standard procedure since the security folks got a little bit puzzled when they saw my Copenhagen-issued boarding pass. Don't hesitate to use this airport.

Arrival: Nice short walking distance to baggage claim. Fast baggage delivery. Comfortable smokers lounge next to baggage claim. Relaxed atmosphere; but still very efficient operation. Car rental easy to find - so is the carpark for rented cars. Departure: Easy car return. Clean cheap airport hotel "fit for purpose". Several breakfast options in the check-in hall. Easy and friendly check-in. So is security check. I got a feeling that they had though about everything in this airport - and that maybe that is the reason why everything worked so efficiently the staff had energy to smile and the atmosphere is so relaxed.
