✅ Trip Verified | Whatever you do don't use this airport if you have a mobility problem or need assistance at the airport. When I arrived to this airport having booked wheelchair assistance there was no one there. Staff at the airport did not know where the mobility services where. The lift was broken so I had to struggle up many many stairs. I encountered more problems on my return journey. I have forwarded a complaint to the German disability organisation. Avoid whatever you do. I will never ever return to Berlin Brandenburg again. A disgrace of a so called service.

✅ Trip Verified | Worst airport I have been to: chaos at baggage drop off, longest time at the control, no good warm food, at arrival delayed stars for the plane and 20min waiting time for buses to take us from the plane to the terminal. Not really clean.

Not Verified | For a new airport is surprisingly badly designed. 30-40 minute walk from the gate to the taxis, having to go up and down several flights of stairs. Gates are too small so we had to wait there for 50 minutes (plane was there but flight was a little late in boarding) while standing shoulder to shoulder and sweating away in an overcrowded waiting area. If this was an airport built in the 60s I'd say OK but this is a brand new construction. What were they thinking?

✅ Trip Verified | Last night we waited over 2 hours to collect our luggage from an EasyJet flight. We arrived at 11PM and got into a taxi at 1:20 AM. There was no one there to explain or help. Just angry travellers. All arrivals seemed affected. Such a disgrace and no communication. No officials or announcements. Surely wonderful friendly Germans deserve better than this! Agree with other reviewers avoid if you can or bring back the closed airports.

✅ Trip Verified | Both arrivals and departure from this airport exhibited poor operations. 1) Lack of ground crew for both arrival and departure. Arrival: - checked in luggage retrieval took 50 mins after disembarking for luggage to appear on carousel - Disembarking delayed - no ground crew available to attach air bridge. When air bridge did arrive, it had a technical fault meaning disembarking was further delayed. Departure: - Embarking delayed by 20 mins due to lack of ground crew. - No sign of pushback crew until 45 mins after departure time. Captain was very sorry and advised passengers that both he and cabin crew were chasing for pushback constantly and commented to us passengers that it’s frustrating not getting a response. Horrible airport, thank god Eurostar is doing direct to Berlin. Avoid BER at all costs.

✅ Trip Verified | Terminal 2. Terminal is the operative word. They really want you to feel that you're travelling on budget airlines (which are the only ones to use this terminal - although Terminal 1 is actually much better) Even access from outside is made difficult. If you arrive on public transport or on a taxi there is only access via outside stairs. If you're disabled you need to take a long detour through terminal 1. Bring LOTS of time with you whichever terminal you're leaving from. Terminal 2 is characterised by desperate people smoking their final cigarette outside before being confronted by the horrors of the terminal itself. Once you've got through the snow to get into the actual building, your confronted with an ambience which I would describe as retro-slaughterhouse- slash - prison. If you like industrial post apocalyptic architecture you'll feel at home. I'm guessing the person responsible for this architecture is now housed in a secure unit themselves. The staff have obviously adapted themselves to the environment in which they work, and getting through the desperately slow security is more akin to arriving at a Siberian Gulag than an airport. All the bags (ALL) that were scanned today required a second check. The only thing missing was sitting on a cloth and this being used to train sniffer dogs). The waiting area ambience continues to delight with the abattoir theme. Overhead hang open pipes and vents that make you feel as though life is being sucked out of you rather than air being pumped in. There is no seating to speak of, certainly not enough considering how many people fly budget airlines. There is lots music coming from each of the bars and shops, which meets on the middle, just where what little seating there is, is situated, making the waiting experience more like a soviet torture technique designed to send you mad before you get to your plane. Because of the design, not only the music, but voices echo around ensuring you're really on edge and irritated by the time it's time to go to the gate. To get to the gates, you are effectively kettled along bleak grey corridors, like those now used in modern slaughterhouses to ensure the doomed animals do not panic. There are no escalators or people movers here, they want you to live the experience. There are no jet-bridges either to make your life any less uncomfortable than they want it to be. You will be made to suffer. Even the old DDR Airport of Schoenfeld at the end of its life was better than this. It is just awful. Sadly you cannot give negative points, otherwise I would. Sadly it's the only way into Berlin by air now, so there's no choice. God help us all.

✅ Trip Verified | The security at this airport is comically slow. It almost feels like they do it on purpose, and we are getting pranked. Agents are rude to complement the bad service. My backpack was sidelined, they emptied by returning it upside down, without finding anything, and then left me there having to fold and repack everything.

Not Verified | I fly more than 120 times per year and this is the worst large airport in Europe by far. Security controls are the slowest I have ever experienced. Personnel at security and gate should be replace entirely: they are rude, not qualified, sloppy. Food options are few and terrible. Parts of the airport are not working or are still under construction / set-up. Functionality is poor, with escalators available only to go up but not down, narrow corridors, small bathroom facilities. Even though it is not a big airport, you have to walk for hours to get where you need to go. Simply put, an airport that should not exist as it is. Berlin waited 20 years to end up with this awful place.

✅ Trip Verified | This airport is a disgrace. The system of multiple security lines is absurd and does not ensure that passengers are treated on a first come first serve. Queues at security are consistently unacceptable. Despite the recent opening xr scanning machines are of the old generation not able to process liquids and laptops without removal from the bag. Restaurant brands inside the airport are of the lowest quality serving horrible food. Even basic facilities such as escalators both ways to and from food court are missing. Amazing that after 9 years of delay and Eur 4bln overspending. We leave the main airport in Germany in this state!

✅ Trip Verified | Security checks impossible and guards really nasty with tourists. No one speaks English and checks are out of markets standard. After making me queue for 40min in T1 they closed the security check for no reason and sent me to T2. My flight was T1 and I have a partial disability. Even if I flagged it they did not allow me to pass. Never seen something like this in other German airport. Security needs to relax
