Not Verified | I have been using Basel airport for two decades and the service quality has been bad ever since. Compared to for instance Zurich staff are so rude and unfriendly at Basel. There is far too little terminal seating or staff will not let you use it. Toilet Cleanliness is an issue here as well. Shopping is overpriced and on and on. Anyway since then the quality level is pretty low over decades there is no expectation that improvement may be expected, nor does management show any interest in improvement.

"place is quite unhygienic"

Not Verified | Plane is a few hours late as usual, everything is filthy and there aren't enough seats nor space so lots of people just sit at floor. Charging opportunities for phones etc. are sorely lacking in 2024 and the place is quite unhygienic. I've flown quite a lot in my life and this has to be one of the worst if not the worst airports out there.

“dated, uncomfortable and disorganised”

✅ Trip Verified | This airport has to be the worst in Europe. Not only does it have the least courteous staff in the Swissport staff at the desks (typically 'French' in attitude), but the airport itself is dated, uncomfortable and disorganised. There is no or very little seating, so people sit on the ground taking up corridor space. Your food and beverage offering is minimal, slow and abysmal for an international airport. Your baggage handling system and technology is not fir for purpose, as demonstrated on a recent flight that was cancelled to Copenhagen where it took you 2 hours to get bags off an aircraft that hadn't even left! Your airport's treatment of passengers on a cancelled flight was shameful and a total abdication of passenger care responsibility. I would rather fly to Zurich and take a train than ever fly through your dreadful, airport again. The only positive area of your airpot is the Business Centre, which I used for the second time. Efficient, courteous, functional and professional. The rest is a disaster!

"a very unpleasant experience"

✅ Trip Verified | We had a very unpleasant experience with an immigration officer when leaving Basel which really put a damper on our nice trip. Unbeknownst to me you are not permitted food or drink while going through immigration to get to your gate (I did not see a sign as we entered the queue and I would have expected you could take food/drink through, as it wasn't security and there are lots of cafes around!). We approached the counter, and I put my coffee on the counter to grab our passports. The officer pointed to a small sticker on his window which had a picture of a drink and hamburger with a slash across it saying "NEIN! No food or drink! This is not a restaurant!" He said this in a very nasty way and handled our passports rudely, throwing them back at me after he stamped them. I asked him where I could throw out my coffee but he ignored me. My daughter, who was about a foot behind me, took a sip of her water and again he yelled "NEIN!". She was so shocked, she literally jumped. As I walked away I quietly wished him a horrible day ahead.

Not Verified | I’m a frequent flyer and, unfortunately, have to travel via the Basel-Mulhouse Euroairport on a regular basis. Departing from Basel is usually uncomplicated, with security checks and passport control managed ok. By contrast, arriving at this airport is a huge hassle every single time - ground personnel are never ready on time and the passport check is severely understaffed, with waiting times typically exceeding 30 min. This airport is an absolute embarrassment to Switzerland.

Not Verified | An embarrassment to Swiss level of service - AVOID As a frequent flyer who uses Zürich, Geneva, and many European airports, I have never seen such substandard lack of professionalism. The security at this airport is run by amateurs. They cannot gage liquid size, stating even small bottles have to be written. Uh! Sample bottles are sold without labels. They check a ton of bags, unable to use proper judgement, which delays processing. Seriously who trained these people?. Lines always long. Courtesy absent.

✅ Trip Verified | Absolutely shocking experience. I’ve travelled for over 40 years and this is the worst experience I’ve had. Unbelievable in a country like Switzerland. I went through 2 passport controls! It was like a rabbit warren. Flight delayed by 3 hours and zero communication up until 10 minutes before flight. We were given 12 euro food vouchers but only one cafe which had no food. Never again. Embarrassing.

"Extremely rude passport control staff"

Not Verified | Extremely rude passport control staff who seem to suffer god complexes - quite why they quiz so heavily again after the initial security & passport control has been done can only be guessed at. Overpriced food and drink (even for Switzerland - and that's saying something). Nowhere to sit unless purchasing afor mentioned overpriced food and drink. Announcements that are difficult to hear, let alone comprehend. Toilets are plentiful yet dirty. Smoking area were reminiscent of yard time at Wormwood Scrubs. One fellow passenger even took pictures like it were a zoo.

Not Verified | If you are coming from Switzerland traffic conditions are unexpectedly poor through Basel. Arrived Friday 30 June at approx 1920 for EasyJet flight to Bristol scheduled for 2120. The EasyJet bag drop was OK; they appear to have exclusive use of Hall 3. The security scanning was OK. The passport control was not in same vicinity but some way down the “arm” containing the gates and There was a long queue. There had been no indication that it was a good idea to continue to Passport Control. I had assumed there would not be this further check. Nothing to do with Airport but flight 2hrs 10 minutes late. There were a large number of late evening flights but all cafes were shut. There were some vending machines but one of them took my money without giving me anything. Saving grace was that there were loads of seats. I was expecting some fantastic Euro project Airport but disappointed. Will consider alternatives in future

"helpdesk information employees were so rude"

Not Verified | I was travelling from Basel Europort Airport to Amsterdam in KLM. My flight was canceled so I went to enquire and helpdesk information employees were so rude if asked for help. I don't understand why the info desk is for information service and when asked for help, they respond so rudely to the customers. Please teach them business etiquette, and train them in interpersonal and communication skills. I'm being rude here because of the way the helpdesk responded to me.
