Not Verified | One of worst airport experiences I have ever had. There is no signage or staff to guide the check-in process. Crowds are not controlled and there are far too many people for the space. There was no staff to ask questions. Absolutely hated being there. Would avoid using that airport in future.

✅ Trip Verified | The airport is quite large and busy, with nice shops and a fair selection of overpriced food of mediocre quality. I had a brief stay at the airport for a few hours while travelling back to Canada and I was subject to a search by security officials. While I understand the need to perform this kind of search to ensure safety onboard and in the airport, I found the procedure very embarrassing and distressful. The lack of communication (although the personnel did speak some English) was what made this event rather disturbing. I was cooperative all along, of course, understating that it wasn’t personal, and these kinds of things happen in an airport, but again, there was very little communication involved and I didn’t understand what was happening to me. I was just trying to go home and had a long flight ahead of me. I hope the airport reviews the training for the security checks in order to make it less awkward and distressful for the individuals being searched. I will try to avoid this airport in the future.

✅ Trip Verified | With my 2 flights transferred there, it ended up to be 3 flights, all delayed, unplanned and unserved overnight stranded at airport, and directed to a third unwanted city the next day. After a humiliating security check, who slowed me down on purpose with the short of my time, thanks to the delay of the former flight, I made to the second flight, but they “thought” I won’t make it and gave my seat to others. The airport is quite dirty, shabby, full of desperate crowds. My lesson is to avoid this airport and KLM as much as I can.

"Understaffed, Staff over-worked"

Not Verified | I had a very short lay-over here approx. 1hr 15mins, when arriving the airport is incredibly overwhelming for non EU passport holders. You are forced to follow vague signs towards security which has incredibly long queues, staff seemed unfriendly and over worked. After security you find self service terminals to print boarding pass or to see information some of these were out of order or busy and I didn't have time to wait. So I ended up looking for staff to figure out what my transfer flight boarding gate is. Eventually I find someone who is willing to help but still not very accommodating. When I finally got to customs, it was the same incredibly long line, I asked to be put to the front of the queue as I was close to missing my flight, they then fast tracked me to the EU queue but I was still running late. Once I got to customs I was treated like a suspicious character, asked a ton of questions while they could clearly see that I was late, in my panic and stress I sprinted to find my boarding gate and ended losing my wallet. Once I realized this I started desperately asking staff to please ask customs if they see my wallet there, no one was willing to call they told me to walk back and go and ask. I didn't have the time to, so I ended up taking my flight instead and leaving my wallet. Now two weeks later only do they notify me that they have found my wallet. Long story short: Understaffed, Staff over-worked, process and directions are not clear or helpful to new and irregular visitors.

"without doubt it is the worst"

Not Verified | This used to be the best airport second to Changhi in Singapore, now without doubt it is the worst. Arrivals and control are simply terrible, passed through 4 or 5 times in last 4 months and always the same. As a platinum elite for life traveller, I have plenty of years of experience with KLM and Schiphol, so today one passport control for all. No EU at 9am in the morning, just been waiting 1hr 50 mins my flight from Newcastle was an hour, took nearly twice as long to queue for a passport control than to fly. Clearly under staffed and we are not even in the peak travelling time yet. If you can avoid Schiphol, do so at all costs. Get sorted Schiphol you have had long enough, pandemic is no longer an excuse

Not Verified | Schiphol used to be a pretty decent airport. The past few years, it's all gone horribly wrong. Long queues for passport control. Dirty facilities. Food and drinks are not great. Personnel is indifferent and uninterested. Flight delays 'due to airport restrictions', whatever that means. Next time, I'm picking a different airport if possible.

"Passport Control is an absolute disgrace"

✅ Trip Verified | Passport Control is an absolute disgrace, I’ve been in line 2 hours now and still no end in sight. The queue is through the arrivals hall up the stairs and into the terminal with only 2 officers checking passports.

✅ Trip Verified | Absolutely humiliating experience. Food is a city in Russia and you can only get mediocre food, it is not good enough for a large international hub. To the extent that the shops were open, I experienced the staff as indifferent and downright rude. I have been coming through Schiphol for many years and it has only gone backwards. I am deeply disappointed! In the future, I will apply for CPH, or FRA rather than AMS if it is in any way possible.

✅ Trip Verified | I use Schiphol quite a bit. It's not a particularly amazing airport, it doesn't have any exciting or modern features but it's friendly and it gets the job done. It's also incredibly easy to access from Amsterdam by bus or train. The free version of the Rijksmuseum is a nice touch. Also, wifi is fast and free.
