"absolutely excellent service"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Toronto to Puerto Plata. We had absolutely excellent service. We were a whole day late caught up in the storm and OPP closed the roads! We were half way to Toronto. We called and Westjet got us on the next morning and refunded our seat selection fees as we were just happy to get any seat. They also extended our stay by one day to account for our lost day, included transfers to and from the airport, and the one day all inclusive at the hotel. I can't thank one particular person as the rep at the hotel and at least three other reps were involved. My thought is all do their best for you. Mother Nature plays a huge role in winter flights so be kind and realize it's not in Westjets control.

"I got a middle seat instead"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Calgary to Kelowna. I had paid and booked a seat in the Emergency row-an aisle seat 10C. Then when I show up the plane configuration was changed, so I got a middle seat instead. Now I'm 6'4" with a painful knee and I needed the aisle, but they gave it to someone else. Uncomfortably sat between two obese men the whole trip. So I paid 300$ plus 20$ one-way for seat selection and I still get a miserable trip. 320$ one-way for a 49 minute trip is garbage, but at least I should get my seat. I am starting to hate this once great airline WestJet.

"case of unnecessary neglect"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Edmonton to Toronto via Halifax. WestJet has amazing flight attendants. My husband and I are both visually impaired and they treated us extremely well, always asking what we needed instead of assuming they knew, making sure we were provided with escorts to all gates and very personable. All airport staff were superb except for Pearson international. That airport is horrible. We had a weather related diverted flight. We attempted to land at our destination, had to pull up, landed in Quebec for quite a while, not even an offer to feed us as we were stuck on the plane for ages, then up again to land at Pearson for the night, we were assured we would have escort to our new flight home and they forgot about us, we tracked someone down as we could have never found our gate, then the Pearson WestJet staff member took us to the wrong gate twice, we were last on and they paged us several times. Very bad blunder, busy or not you don't do that to people who cannot see and especially after such an emotional flight scenario. Head office should have fed our plane in QC and they should crack down on Pearson staff regarding the needs of the disabled. Clear case of unnecessary neglect. Otherwise the trip was great and even the drama of taking off and landing so much on our crazy trip home was perfect except the one incident at Pearson that almost made us miss our flight home, we had already been awake for more then 24 hrs by then so you can just imagine how stressful it was. Again I want to stress our frustration is Toronto Pearson specifically not WestJet overall but, it would be appropriate for WestJet to acknowledge the neglect by their staff.

"Trip back was just exceptional"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | I had the pleasure of flying with WestJet from Toronto to St Lucia and back to Toronto. The Trip to St Lucia was the normal WestJet great service. Trip back (WS 2627 Feb 28th 2019) From: Vieux Fort to Toronto was just exceptional. The service was fantastic, the attendants were spectacular. The experience was made over the top by the head attendant. She was just on point with everything - she was attentive, friendly, funny while being exceptionally professional. She is a real credit to your organization.

"the flights are late"

(France)

Not Verified | Toronto to New York. Good team, but the flights are late. I took 2 flights with this airline, I had to wait 8hrs for both. This is incredible, this can happen once but not twice. Never saw this in my entire life. I won’t take this airline anymore.

"Worst flying experience"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Fort St John to Calgary via Saskatoon. Weather made us late getting into Calgary so we had to overnight in Calgary at our expense, fair enough but up at 4 AM the next day only to be loaded onto a broken plane, unloaded an hour later and then told the next flight was leaving at midnight, it was an hour late. Given a few food vouchers and oh, sorry no more premium seats left you are now sitting in the very back in economy. The food vouchers did not make up for the 20 hours without sleep nor the extra 3 days parking we owed. Customer service was total uncaring. All we heard on the loudspeakers for 20 hours is "WestJet apologies for" every 10 minutes they were changing everyone's gates or flights. When they load you onto a plane they should already know that , that plane is ready to fly. To expect a 69 year old woman with her 65 year old husband to sit in a busy airport for over 20 hours is just inhumane. Worst flying experience of my life.

"worst flying experience"

(United States)

Trip Verified | Calgary to Ottowa. This was the worst flying experience. I was supposed to fly out Sunday 2.24.3019 but the plane was so delayed I got pushed to Monday 2.25.2019. So the morning of the 25th is when I’m flying out. Boarding was supposed to happen at 8:40am for 9:20 departure. The pilot was late from another flight so we did not board until 9:40am. Once we were in the plane there was no staff to load our checked bags under the plane. The plane was then de iced. One of the passenger became sick while we sat on the plane waiting for out bags to be loaded and the plane to be de iced. We had to let him off. We sat on the plane for almost two hours before we took off. My 3 and a half hour flight had turned in to about 5 hours. Once we landed there was no gate for us to use so we sat some more. My connecting flight had been booked with about two hours cushion from my first flight. We were two hours behind so of course I missed my connection. I went up to the desk and asked to be rescheduled. I was informed that I would have to fly out at 6:00am the next day. This is now Wednesday 2.26.2019. Another day of work missed. On top of all of this I was told that WestJet would not be covering my room because a sick passenger an uncontrollable. This is true! But a sick passenger did not take a whole two hours to deplane. If we had been on time in the first place the passenger would had set us back maybe 30 minutes. I argued with the man for a second and needed to walk away before I got kicked out of the airport. I called WestJet customer service line and waited for 45 minutes for service until I gave up and hung up. So here I sit on a hard chair for the next 10 hours in the airport until I can go through security. Moral of the story what is a measly $80 hotel room to WestJet? Absolutely nothing. The rude man I talked to at the front desk could have easily helped me out after I sat on a plane for 5 hours. Especially because it was 100% on WestJet to do so. My sister lives in Calgary and I spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars flying to her every year and now I will make sure the WestJet never gets another cent from me again.

"airline has gone downhill"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Antigua to Toronto. We have flown with West Jet as our preferred airline for more that 10 years but the last 12 flights and especially the one from Antigua has convinced us that this airline has gone downhill and no longer cares about its customers. We showed up at the airport in Antigua for our return flight 3 hours before it was supposed to leave at 4pm. A long story short is numerous delays resulted in the airplane arriving more than 2 hours late and 30 minutes later the flight was cancelled without any explanation. The next 2 hours at the airport were a zoo while 165 passengers scrambled to get rooms and get flights re-booked. The toll free Westjet phone number did not work and after spending 45 minutes trying to connect with them I spent 20 minutes on the phone long distance getting connections re-booked. The person I spoke to over the phone was helpful but the local Westjet staff were not. We flew down and back on "premium" seats and there was no premium service at the airport or on the plane when it left the next day (no food was put on board) and it took off 30 minutes late after the crew showed up late. Westjet arranged to put us up in a hotel but it was filthy and the room could best be described as a "fleabag" room. Much more went wrong with this part of the trip and it cost us over $800 that was not reimbursed. The overall experience was the worst we have experienced in all of our 5 decades of flying (many more details omitted here for brevity) A personal email to the CEO Ed Sims went unanswered and one of the Westjet customer service people offered us $100 WestJet dollars for all of our stress, trouble and expense. The email was not even signed by the person who sent us the reply. If the CEO does not care why should they? We flew 12 flights with Westjet over Dec 2018 and Jan 2019. The food in premium was crap in all but one flight segment. This is not the Westjet we switched to more than 10 years ago. The lack of response, transparency and service on the part of WestJet overall led us to decide not to fly with them again. VERY disappointing

"professional, empathetic"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Zihuatanejo to Edmonton via Calgary. This is by far the most humiliating moment of my life and the Westjet flight attendants handled it better than could possibly be expected of them. They were professional, empathetic, and delicate. I’m sure I didn’t express my gratitude very well, as I was avoiding all eye contact, and I wish I had gotten their names but I hope they know well they handled an impossible situation. Pretzels and ginger ale were good, seat was comfy and bonus!
