"appreciate their help"
Brian Marceau (Canada)
Not Verified | Toronto to Edmonton. Today we had arrived to the Airport and our plane was cancelled without notice. (Flight 427) It was myself, my sister and her 10 Month old child. Due to the circumstances Karina and Rosa were absolutely incredible and did what they could to help accommodate our needs to get back home with taxi vouchers and vouchers to get back to the airport along with some meal vouchers for a later flight. We greatly appreciate their help and cant thank them and West Jet enough.

"charged us a luggage fee"
S Darsen (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Toronto to Montego Bay. First time flying with Westjet and surely the last! I was very hesitant to fly with Westjet to begin with, from mixed reviews. The main reason I booked my Jamaican vacation was for the much favorable flight times, and pricing. Low and behold some of the hidden costs are the extra luggage fee and the fact that they were delayed both going down and coming back. The staff was unprofessional, behaving silly during the safety instruction. It was as though they do not care to have a job. On the way home, not only was the flight extremely delayed but we were on the 737 Max, which had a rejected takeoff due to a maintenance issue. We were ofboarded and left in the airport with no updates as to when we were leaving or if we were leaving. Once we were able to get back on the aircraft they did not even offer any sort of compensation or anything complimentary at all. The staff seemed extremely irate and it came off as though we were a burden to them. They charged us a luggage fee in USD coming back, I mean seriously. This is a no frills airline with a high ticket price.

"No compensation offered"
N Halchen (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Edmonton to Montreal booked for May 2019. WestJet sells direct flights and later cancelled it giving one with a connection. It happened to me twice this year, once going to London and again going to Montreal. If I wanted the flight with a connection, I would choose one, pay less and pick the hours and a carrier that works best for me. If you don’t know your schedule, then don’t sell the seats. No compensation offered.

"charged through the nose"
Demetre Anagnostou (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Kelowna to Calgary. The decline of great Canadian service and hospitality has hit this airline. No longer do children and elderly load first, its who pays. No longer can you call customer service with a mistake online and not get charged through the nose. Have flown exclusively with these guys for 10 years, but no longer do I have loyalty. Your money is best spend on the lowest bid because all these airlines will hammer you now a days.

"no free meal"
Jessel Ghany (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Gatwick to Toronto, 7hrs 41min flight. Seats uncomfortable, no free meal, biscoff, coffee or a can of soft drink. They started their on board services approximately 1/2 into the flight. They started this service for economy class. By the time they reached my seat after 45 minutes, they had no more hot meals for purchase. I ended up having to purchase 3 very dry, tasteless sandwiches. Over priced btw. But they were fully stocked on Biscoff and Pretzels for those of you who do not have a CC.

"$30 CAD per checked bag"
J McLaughlin (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Calgary to Cancun. Really disappointed that WestJet checked baggage fees. I knew they charged $30 CAD per checked bag when I booked, but was extremely annoyed when I was charged $30 USD returning from Mexico to Canada. My husband and I paid $60 CAD to get our bags there and $82.55 CAD to get them back. For this reason, I will fly Sunwing next time which had comparable package prices with no baggage fees.

"cancelled at a last minute"
Zoran Popovic (Canada)
Not Verified | Flight on return cancelled at a last minute. Not quite horrible to be stranded for another day in Honolulu, but when you are with two children, without a hotel, it is a bit challenging. Especially as the booking agent suggested to go to the airport to "get the voucher", which is ridiculous way of placing the burden on their customers. In the end, they agreed that I can submit expenses for reimbursement. Then they rebooked us to a crazy itinerary: Honolulu - Calgary - Victoria - Vancouver. It will be some 12 hours traveling. They just sent us an email with three and a half hours departure delay and another one for additional twenty minutes. For all this, I am expected to reschedule shuttle pick up on my own, handle stay, food... We will just head to the airport and be at their mercy..

"Never again West Jet"
G Landor (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Vancouver to Los Cabos. This was the third time I’d tried West Jet and the third time I was totally disappointed. Starting with the Entertainment System, it wasn’t until I was on the plane that I discovered I needed an app to view movies. When I asked the flight attendant about this, she said: “Sorry,it’s too late to get the app; you will need to buy wifi when we are in the air and download the app”. First, why do I need an app to watch movies? Air Canada Rouge uses wireless connectivity that connects your device immediately to its Entertainment System without any half-baked app. Secondly, the flight attendant was wrong: the inflight wireless system prohibits downloading from Apple. So, I start my flight without entertainment and an additional $11 in the hole from poor advice from West Jet staff. Then there was the noise level in the cabin. My wife and I had never experienced such rowdiness in all our years of flying. The passengers beside me had broken into their duty-free vodka and were clearly drunk—something the flight attendant ignored while other passengers were yelling and cheering throughout the four hours of flying. It wasn’t just me overreacting; the people sitting beside me were also not impressed with the uncontrolled decorum and noise level and felt things were borderline out of control. Affectatious pleasantries by the flight crew did little to win us over and, in the end we just wanted the flight to be over. Never again West Jet.

"extremely disappointing"
C Cenerini (Canada)
Not Verified | Recent experiences extremely disappointing Our last two experiences with WestJet have been very frustrating: in both cases, flights were late, this last case due to crew running late - this last week, my husband missed his connecting flight by 5 minutes and had to stay overnight in the airport (WestJet would not cover board or offer any compensation) and miss work the next day, now losing out on a day's pay. No apologies, no compensation, no responsibility were offered or taken by WestJet for this trouble, towards my husband and the many other passengers their delays inconvenienced this particular day. We will not be booking with WestJet again if we have any better options, including other modes of transportation. This unless there is some change in the professionalism, compassion and efficiency in the company and in its employees, who so enthusiastically promote that they are part owners of WestJet airlines. The lack of customer care has been appalling and so will be looking to spend our money and good words elsewhere.

"I’m sticking to Air Canada"
1 reviews Adam Watson (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Vancouver to Palm Springs. We were met with a 1:30 delay. After that was over, we were in the air and there is a medical emergency. = We were diverted to Portland where we sat on the tarmac for 4:45 minutes. Add that to the first delay and you get 6:15 minutes. The person was offloaded and Portland AirPort was empty. But they decided to keep us there for god knows what reason. Anyways I’m sticking to Air Canada in the future.
