"never book this airline again"

Trip Verified | Very disappointed with the succession of delays faced by my mother in law and and 11 year old daughter amounting to about 7 hour delay on a round trip on a round trip Toronto to Boston. Not acceptable and they were exhausted upon return to Toronto after what should have been a roughly 2 hour flight from Boston. After experiencing 3 successive delays on their trip from to Boston. they subsequently experienced 4 delays on their return home to Toronto. Arriving at the Boston airport at 4:45 for a 7pm flight that ultimately did not take off until 11pm. Is this the norm when flying WestJet? How on earth can one make any plans at all for pick up, etc? No response to my emailed complaint to Westjet. Will never book this airline again.

"Westjet, you’ve lost 8 customers"

Trip Verified | Westjet is a disappointment! Our fully boarded plane destined for Gatwick from Calgary was deplaned to give the aircraft to a Paris destination. The fully boarded Paris aircraft had to be inspected for lightning damage and as a result, WestJet made the decision to borrow the Gatwick aircraft in order to meet a tight Paris arrival window. Turned out the aircraft was not flyable after 3 hour delay and as a result the Gatwick flight was delayed by 24 hours. All the WestJet agents were so rude and refused to offer any compensation because they asserted the delay was due to weather. Weather affected the Paris aircraft and not the Gatwick aircraft. The feeling of watching the Paris passengers board the aircraft that WestJet kicked us off was unbelievable. This was 10pm. No meal vouchers, no hotel, no assistance. Are you kidding WestJet? 3 days later, WestJet sent an email apologizing for their decision, which they confirmed was fully in their control. Offered $100 WestJet credit. What an insult! Doesn’t even cover the cost of our 1 lost night of Airbnb and tour tickets, let alone the frustration and inconvenience. Westjet, you’ve lost 8 customers.

"Will not be flying with again"

Trip Verified | Vancouver to Toronto. My wife and I were not assigned seats together, by default, when I checked in. Even though their was plenty of other seats available at the time, it would cost $80 for us to select seats together. I have not encountered this problem before with other airlines even ones that make you pay for specific seats. The value of your ticket is also poor, as they charge you additional fees for things such as checked baggage, seating, and basic food items even though they are not a low cost airline. Will not be flying with again.

"I will not use again"

Trip Verified | Calgary to Windsor. On July 22 my family of 6 arrived to Calgary airport at 7:20. We dropped off my parents and all the luggage and we returned our rental car. At 7:40 we were back in the airport. We checked in our luggage and proceeded through the security check. The security that we were sent to was extremely busy. The gate that West Jet flight to Windsor was used was C71. When we arrived at the gate (9:52) we were told that we are not allowed on the airplane anymore. They knew that we were in the airport because our luggage got on the airplane on time. They knew that we were traveling with a 4 yrs old, 82 yrs old man and a 76 yrs old lady. My mom couldn't walk fast due to her open heart surgery that she had a few years ago. Because we got tickets with Flighthub, we could not rebook our flight. We had to buy new tickets that cost us over $3500. The next morning it took us a very short time to get through security check and arrive at gate since our gate today was A 18. Yesterday it took triple time. We also had to get 2 hotel rooms that we had to pay for. Very disappointing. When we flew with Air Canada they were waiting for 20 min for our flight to arrive so we went lose our connection. I will not use again for our future travelling!!

"the flight attendant was rude"

Trip Verified | San Jose Cabo to Vancouver. We travel yearly, this year we went to San Jose Cabo (6 of Us) and had a wonderful time, Until the flight coming back to Canada aboard WS Flight # 2061, We noticed on self checkin that they assigned our 10 year old daughter to sit in between to other people, we asked at the check in desk which we were told no problem the flight attendants can change once we were aboard the plane. But when we got in the plane the flight attendant was rude, as when I was sitting with my 81 Year old Mother and Aunt, and she wanted to move us from the window seat because we were not fluent in English. So after we took off, and seat belt signs were off, I went to check on my kids and then Flight Attendant came over and said i should not stand in aisle, I explained I was checking on my kids, and she replied back that I should have asked the passenger in their row to move to my current seat. I went back to my seat for the rest of the flight.

"unable to add my cat to flight"

Trip Verified | I booked a trip through ticket agency using KLM from Moscow to Toronto via Amsterdam, connecting to WestJet onto Victoria. Eventually I cancelled whole flight because WestJet was unable to add my cat to the flight. They couldn't do that they were "unable to add pet to the flights not controlled by WestJet". So I will never use WestJet anymore.

"unwilling to put us on another airline"

Trip Verified | Booked our honeymoon 6 months ago, they send us a pre recorded message 10 hours before our flight leaves saying we are moved to a different flight which will arrive in Nashville 23 hours later than we originally paid for. We have 4 days off for a vacation. The new itinerary includes an additional stop, overnight in an airport. We call WorstJet, tell them it is unacceptable and we cannot lose 25% of our vacation due to their issue. They put us on hold twice totalling 2 hours, with an additional 30 mins of talk time to use the term "uncontrollable air traffic" about 20 times. They were unwilling to put us on another airline, unwilling to give us any accomodation for their new route with the overnight stop over, any sort of meal or taxi vouchers, anything at all! They told us we can purchase our own tickets on Air Canada, which wastes what we already gave this company. Amazing. We have already booked events and paid for accomodations at our destination, which are non-refundable and now wasted money as we won't get there on time. So, unwilling to spoil our vacation on account of WorstJet (WestJet), we paid for an additional hotel stay out of our own pocket, will spend more on tranport and meals in this hotel, and still havent made it to our destination. Needless to say this will be the last time we ever use WorstJet Airlines. You get what you pay for, less expensive tickets but piss poor customer service. My Wife messaged their facebook account to no avail, receiving the same response that nothing will be done. The representitive we spoke to said a manager will call us to talk about it but we have received no call yet. "WorstJet Airlines, where you're on your own!"

"not worth the hassle"

Trip Verified | Vancouver to Orange County. If your traveling for business w/o luggage it’s fine. They are trying their hardest to make a profit in a small margin industry. I will not fly this airline again because of all the fees they keep asking for. We paid for a premium seat and still had to pay for our luggage. By the time you’ve paid for luggage and your ticket, it’s the same as most airlines. The aeroplane is small. Their food is terrible, wine selection mediocre, asked for sparkling water with lime and the lime juice comes in a packet. The service was nice the attendants very good. When we travel for leisure it’s just not worth the hassle.

"cancelled and rescheduled"

Trip Verified | Our 10:00 pm flight from Toronto to Barcelona was initially delayed for a few hours due to some issue with a door part that needed replacing, then cancelled and rescheduled for 24 hours later. Had a very long wait for hotel and food vouchers to be sorted out, at 2:07 am we finally got the voucher. Didn't get to sleep until 3:30 am. A whole vacation day wasted. Not sure why a part took 24 hours to find in Canada's largest airport, or why WJ doesn't have any relationships with other airlines to rebook us on an earlier flight. Later got an email from WestJet offering a measly $100 WestJet dollars as some supposed "make amends" offer. When I emailed back I got an unhelpful and unsympathetic reply. On another leg of our trip Air Canada asked for volunteers to be bumped a few hours and they offered $800 in credit. Compare that to the paltry $100 WestJet offered for a 24 hour delay and tons of stress. I would never trust WestJet again with a trip, especially to Europe. WestJet is woefully unprepared to offer proper service, or to make things right when they screw up.

"Late departure"

Trip Verified | Hamilton to Calgary. Late departure as has been my recent experience on WestJet. Flight about 1/3 full. Bored flight attendants went through the motions of friendly service but could hardly wait to retreat to the back of the plane and chat amongst themselves. I was not offered a receipt when I paid for my in flight purchases nor was there an acknowledgement of my use of the WestJet World Elite credit card. When the pilot announced our departure, there was an embarrassing pause before he announced the departure city of Hamilton. Otherwise, plane was clean and we were advised well in advance of possible turbulence.
