"really seem to enjoy her job"
Marlene Batiuk (Canada)
Not Verified | Vancouver to Cancun. On February 23rd 2020, I was flying to Cancun with my sister, WestJet Flight WS2056. We boarded the plane, got our seats and waited for take off. This is the when I observed the stewardess in Premium Economy helping passengers in her area. This lady really seem to enjoy her job, you could see it in her eyes. I said to my sister, I recognize her from somewhere but couldn't place it at the time. During the flight I racked my brain and realized she had been on a flight with me approximately three years before when I was travelling to Maui. Now the reason I remembered her was because of her caring eyes and amazing demeanour. Jo-Anne had been the stewardess who helped me out on that flight. I had just split up with my boyfriend, was having some issues at work and was off to visit a friend in Maui. Jo-Anne took the best care of me during that flight, actually moving me up to Premium Class and making sure that I got something to eat and drink. I remember her being so kind as I was having just a bad day. We spoke a few times and she really calmed me down. So at the end of my flight to Cancun I spoke with Jo-Anne and told her how much it had meant to me, that she was so kind to me during that flight.

"poor service on arrival home"
N Worten (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Honolulu to Vancouver . The actual flight was fine, but it was the baggage service that was an issue. for our flight from Honolulu to Vancouver, we had one paid checked bag, and was offered to check two more bags for no cost. We accepted, and ok so far. It wasn't until the end of the flight, as we were waiting in the baggage claim area in Vancouver, that we were informed by a Westjet agent that due to "weight problems related to headwinds", our baggage was randomly left behind in Honolulu. Not so good. We went to fill out the forms, and the Westjet agents there were very rude when we asked rudimentary questions about or baggage. We were told that we would be contacted when our baggage arrives via the next flight out of Honolulu and to be ready for courier delivery. For us, we were contacted early @ 7AM the next day that our baggage had arrived and would be delivered to us via courier in a 6-hour window up to 2 PM. We waited for the baggage, but nothing showed up. It wasn't until we called the Westjet Desk at YVR that we were informed that there was a mixup and that we wouldn't have our bags until 6 PM. We just got the runaround when we asked why this had happened in the first place. Flyer beware if you check baggage out of Honolulu airport. Normally I would recommend Westjet, but in this case, I cannot because of the poor service we received on arrival home.

"Great service all the way around"
Ron Grasley (Canada)
Not Verified | Maui to Calgary. A very smooth flight and service was great. My problem happened when we landed. While getting ready to depart, I couldn't find my passport. I got a little upset as to where it could be. I had it obviously to get on the plane and now I did not. Westjet personnel were very quick to help my search as well as some other passengers. We looked until the whole plane had departed all the while Westjet personnel were calm and supportive. They quickly realized my partner was a little stressed as well and suggested a wheel chair. Within minutes we were heading toward customs, being calmed down by Westjet personnel. Even customs were very calm. This is were I went through my partners huge purse and lo and behold found everything. Feeling frustrated and rather stupid, Westjet saw the humor in this as probably they have done on many other occasions. I appreciated theirhelp all the way out to the taxi line at arrivals. At no time time did they say or behave in a negative way towards my partner or myself. Great service all the way around and we thank you Westjet and personnel for your calming effect after a long day.

"dent in my trust to your service"
Peter Misik (Canada)
Not Verified | I checked 2 bags, with regular fees. But my second was a 78 inches tube with fishing rods for my poor friends in Costa Rica, as donation. I have done it 4 times before without problems. I checked before flight if I have to pay for them extra. Everything was ok, I was allowed up to 98 inches. But here started the problem. They hit me with extra $100 as tube more than 60 inches. I have never found on your website that is only 60". The fishing rods were not worth that amount of money, but I did not want to arrived without them, so after their "research" I had to pay extra $100. I love flying with Westjet, and I will fly in future, but this experience put a dent in my trust to your service. I do not know, if I will get answer on my review, still wish you a good luck and thank you for great service.

"Terrible service at check in"
N Deane (New Zealand)
✅ Trip Verified | Calgary to Los Angeles. Terrible service at check in. Was trying to check in the ski bag and it was slightly over weight, and while we were removing an item, the lady was being very arrogant and demanding that we do not have anything in the bag except for skis. We should have no clothes to protect the skis, no ski poles and only one set of skis. I looked on the website and there is nothing about no clothes allowed in the bag, in fact it says make sure the skis are protected. Overall, terribly arrogant and just plain unhelpful. The bag should be allowed, as long as it is below weight. And if we want to put our ski pants and jacket in it, this should not be a problem.

"She was very helpful"
Leanne Knaus (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Regina to Phoenix via Edmonton. Want to give a shout out to Tristan at YQR airport for helping me book a last minute flight after my Air Canada flight was cancelled within 12 hours of departure. She was very helpful, extremely patient and very knowledgeable. She is a great asset to the WestJet team and i hope she somehow gets the acknowledgment she deserves. Excellent service!

"an hour at carousel for my bag"
Albert Isaacs (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Toronto to Calgary. WestJet used to be hailed the best airline in Canada, mostly because of their customer service, on time departure, lower fares, and baggage delivery. Over the past couple of years I have not had a good experience with them. Their agents at the ticket counters and on the phone were rude to me, they do not respect/honor their partner airline reward programs (I’m a Delta Diamond) and for the past two flights I waited for an hour each time at the carousel for my bag to be delivered.

"not allowed to board our flight"
N Manize (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | My husband and I have been loyal Westjet travellers for the last 7 years. We both have their loyalty card and mostly travel west jet. Yesterday we were to take our first flight from Toronto to Los Angeles with our twin infants and 3 year old toddler. We arrived on time at 7 am for a boarding of 9:45 am and went straight to the kiosk to check-in. My husband tried to check-in around 5-6 times at different kiosks and was able to finally check us all in but our baggage tag would not print. We had already wasted 45 minutes doing this and no agent ever came and told us they were having a glitch in the system. Finally finding out from others around us, we joined a huge line-up of people having the same issue as us. I could sense that we would be late for our flight so I asked agent if there was some way we could be bumped ahead. She said she would ask someone and get back to us .. never followed up. I found her and asked her again and she said they would do call-outs for flights that would be leaving soon .. never heard a call-out for our flight. When I heard them calling out for flights departing at 9:50..I asked another agent about flights departing 9:45 and she said “oh we already called them out you must have not heard.” Several customers around me confirmed that they never heard them call-out these flights. By the time we got to check-in our one suitcase, it was too late and we were not allowed to board our flight. By this time we had already stood in a line for 1.5 hours with 2 crying infants and a toddler. Not once did any of these agents apologize or admit that they had screwed up. Not once did they sympathize with our situation. The manager on duty slipped away with an excuse that he had a meeting and would be back in an hour, never to come back. What upsets me the most about this situation is not the fact that we missed our flight, but the lack of accountability from these Westjet employees. As a professional in the customer service field myself, I have always been taught to take ownership of my mistakes and these Westjet employees failed to do just that. Thank you for a nightmare of an experience - definitely will not be flying with you anytime soon!

"not recommend this airline"
Devin Huff (Canada)
Not Verified | My family and I were travelling from Phoenix to Prince George with a Lay over and plane change in Calgary. In Calgary, we changed planes to a small Central Mountain Air plane operated by WestJet. The flight was supposed to take approximately 2 hours, we were in the air for about an hour and a half when the pilot turned the plane around and advised that based on the head wind, they were low on fuel. We landed back in Calgary within 20 minutes. WestJet booked myself, wife and 2 year old toddler on a flight to Vancouver to travel to Prince George the next morning. Once in Vancouver we were told that the plane could not land due to weather and they would not compensate accommodations. The guest services could not help us at all and left us stranded to find and pay for our own hotel, late at night with a very tired toddler. I understand weather happens and flights get delayed but to be lied to in order to save a few dollars does not sit well with me. I will not recommend this airline.

"Don't choose WestJet"
Allan Chafe (Canada)
Not Verified | Montreal to Puerto Plata via Toronto. When you're looking for an airline company to fly you on your vacation and back, safe and secure, Don't choose WestJet. I booked 2 tickets on the 14th February for a vacation to the Dominican Republic with my wife for departure 06 April 2020. 2 days later my wife was taken to the emergency with chronic pain in the kidneys. I called West Jet customer service to postpone our trip since my wife's health was critical. I asked the young lady representing WestJet if I could cancel or postpone our trip. She answered yes as long as you pay $100 per destination, in total $400 charge. I asked her for goodwill since my wife was in the hospital and she answered me, "if we gave everyone goodwill we wouldn't make any money". I was scandalized from her answer, this is inhumane. Please make sure you can predict the future before you book with WestJet.
