"worst airline I have ever dealt with"

Trip Verified | This is probably the worst airline I have ever dealt with or experienced. First of all, the customer help is almost non-existent, we went through so much to have our flights changed when they said we couldn't go anymore during our original flight date in May so we had to go in June, the whole process was just too much. When we tried to leave Cancun, the people at WestJet said we could not get on the flight b/c apparently, the Hotel we were staying at did not give the correct test. At that point, we were very confused and tried to figure out where to get another test, which we did, to then the people at west jet saying we were basically on our own to figure out how to get home. They said they have flights in a week, and we had to contact them over the phone and when we tried to, our phones were not working properly and we could not get a hold of anyone from the west jet. I have a medical condition and needed my meds that would not last a whole week in Mexico. Luckily my sister was able to get a hold of us before our phones died and booked us new tickets with Delta which she had to pay for. Delta was great, the whole experience and they were able to help us with the covid test issue also. We also then found out that if we got on that plane and made it to the first stop at Toronto, we had to apparently quarantine there too before flying to Calgary so that flight would have cancelled also. Like why was not of this made aware to the customers? Like we had our hotel booked to quarantine in Calgary but then to find out after the fact that we would have not been able to get on the flights from Toronto to Calgary either, insane. (The employees told us, and said the flights there was cancelled too) I have been sick since i got back, and now trying to reach out to West jest and get a refund or something b/c we had to fly with a whole new airline. The experience was not good, and i could honestly go on about the other horrible parts on the initial part of the plane ride too, but i don't care for that just the fact i got stranded and would not get any help or information.

"their respect for the customer is zero"

Not Verified | My worst experience with an airline, their respect for the customer is zero. First, they have changed a direct ticket from Edmonton to Montreal to an indirect journey via Toronto without any compensation, changed to the early morning instead of a reasonable time. Their call-back service doesn't have any logical time slot (just crazy times like 04.15am?) I've been waiting on the phone in line for an agent for more than 1 hour. After all these stories they refund everything as a credit with an expiry date to make people suffer again by them in the future. What do they think exactly about the passengers?

"the customer service is very poor"

Not Verified | WestJet made changes to my itinerary that does not work for me at all. This was not my doing and I would like a full refund on my credit card, however WestJet only offers travel rewards. I do not want to fly with this company at all especially since the customer service is very poor. I have now already spent 8 hours on the phone, 4 hours online and no human contact to resolve this issue. I advise all potential travelers to consider other airlines rather than WestJet.

"Westjet is a scam"

Trip Verified | Westjet is a scam. They changed my flight dates and added additional stops. There is no option provided to refund the money back to the original mode of payment. They will instead issue credit rewards. First of all they have screwed up my travel plans and then not providing any refund. This is ridiculous. They do not have a working customer phone service number. The phone always remains on several hours of wait. There is no customer service email address. The online chat is a joke as no person responds it even if you keep on waiting forever. Its surprising that there is no ban put on this airline till now.

In times of a pandemic they are available with a smile to quickly and professionally assist with any issues, reschedule your flight, find best possible alternative. I wish all other airlines can learn from operating practices of WestJet.

"Horrible customer service"

Trip Verified | I booked a non-stop 4h flight for $400 from Orlando to Toronto April 2021, on 1st Fe. Two weeks later, they decided to cancel my original flight, switch it to a one-stop, 12h, red-eye flight, landing at Toronto at 12:05am! If I insist to the original, they would charge additional $900! WestJet changed my trip dates to a time that didn't work for me — and refused to issue a refund when requested---it is still almost 45 days ahead. I don't want the credit. I want my money back. Horrible customer service.

"I got useless westjet dollars"

Trip Verified | I booked a vacation for May 2020 before Covid, paid for several upgrades. Then they decided to cancel my flight and not tell me about it. But instead of getting the refund, I got useless westjet dollars that are expiring in a few months, and they didn't even credit the full amount The country is on a lockdown, so I can't travel, and their phone agents' response is: "please call if your account expires, we will see if Westjet provides an option to extend". Bottom line is, they took my money and are now hiding behind a clause in their contract. Avoid this airline at all costs.

"I'm disgusted and a bit shocked"

Trip Verified | Westjet bumped my departing flight twice and yet refused to refund me directly if I cancelled, opting to keep my money where I couldn't access it for anything but Westjet flights. Basically you held me hostage to your airline once I committed to one of your low-cost sales, but when I was bumped I had to pay a higher price to get a new date. Which is completely wrong of course. Then you charged me an extra $179 US to return home with my folding bicycle, which is highway robbery. On the departing flight you'd charged me only $50 Canadian. Why was the amount suddenly in US funds? I was in Mexico at the time. This time with my bike once I'd committed to taking it along. Before the return flight you had no warning or information regarding the PCR test I would need to be allowed to board the aircraft and return to Canada. It was just luck that I came across that crucial news item elsewhere. No advance warning that I needed the ArriveCAN app or the ABTraceTogether apps prior to boarding either. On the 6-hour flight home they offered me two small bottles of water and 2 biscuits, that's it. Frankly I'm disgusted and a bit shocked. Westjet has morphed from a cheerful local discount carrier into something slimy and negligent.I've canceled the credit card I had with you and wouldn't use you again except maybe for a very simple, heavily-discounted direct flight after Covid is in the past.

"They went above and beyond"

Not Verified | The staff were amazing. They went above and beyond to make my mom comfortable and safe flying home after major surgery. Everyone was so friendly and cheerful. I was so thankful as I knew it could be stressful for my mom but they made everything much easier.
