"they could just change my dates"

Not Verified | I booked my tickets months in advance. The airline sent me a couple of changes that they wanted me to accept that were outside of fly dates. I only have certain dates off to fly to get my children for the Summer. However, because I didn't accept these suggested dates and new times WestJet felt that they could just change my dates of travel and the times causing me to travel outside of the days that I have off to travel. When I called and explained this to them the customer service rep said "their are no flights for the 7" when I googled flights I can see clearly that their are indeed flights for the 7th going to my destination. When I said that to the representative she brushed me off saying that her records are the only ones that matter. When I explained that I could only fly on certain dates she told me "I don't want to talk about this as it is not my problem" then she hung up on me. I want to be very clear that I didn't angry or yell I simply asked her to change my dates of travel back to my original dates of travel.

"very bad service"

Not Verified | Unfriendly staff and very bad service. The flight flew on time but the inflight staff were rude and did not support people in need. Terrible experience would never book again.

"Never again would I fly with them"

Not Verified | Our flight was suppose to leave London Ontario, flight WS 3504 at 0700 on July 5th to fly to Toronto. Then home to Thunderbay the same day. The Toronto to thunderbay flight was still ago. But when we went online to present board our flight from London to Toronto was cancelled. They didn't notify us earlier of the cancellation. Therefore we could not make alternate arrangements. When we talked to an agent she said we will not be compensated for this error on their behalf. They said we could fly out 4 days later which is un acceptable. Never again would I fly with them.

"they show no care or concerns for people lives"

Trip Verified | I was supposed to travel for my birthday last year in April, due to covid 19 I cancelled my flight as we were in a period of the unknown. WestJest still refuse to refund my money. They have no empathy, they show no care or concerns for people lives. I will never fly WestJet if I can help it and will never recommend their service, they have no clue of the meaning of total customer service.

"I filed a complaint with the DOT"

Trip Verified | I had the same story as everyone else who has posted recently. They changed my flight to a different date, and from two flights to three, with a layover of 22 hours in Canada. The West Jet female representative I spoke to was a complete joke who spoke to me in a condescending and short tone after putting me on hold for 3 and a half hours. It was unacceptable. I called my travel agency and West Jet for a total of 15 hours of my life to try to obtain a refund. It was all useless. I filed a complaint with the DOT. Whether you are entitled to a refund depends on many factors – including the length of the delay, the length of the flight, and your particular circumstances. DOT determines whether you are entitled to a refund following a significant delay on a case-by-case basis." Because the DOT does not define what is a significant delay, it's important that when you file your complaint, you have to include as much detail for them to make their jobs easier when contacting West Jet. COVID-19 does not excuse airline companies to get away with their unprincipled acts. It took about 2 weeks from the time I filed my DOT complaint to the time West Jet issued a full refund for my ticket.

"not satisfied with what they have done"

Not Verified | I feel Westjet is like a scam. I booked the trip for my family for July 22 and it was accepted. They took the money out of our credit cards and a few days later, they sent an email changing our flight schedule sooner than our plan that we can not take it because we can't take the vacation sooner from the workplace. I replied back and requested to the date that I can take it but they did not respond. Also in the email they gave the phone number to call them I did many so many times but it was only the machine and nobody ever answered the phone. This is the worst airline I ever take. I am not satisfied with what they have done to me and I am not recommending this airline to anyone. Do not buy ticket from this airline.

"refused to give me a refund"

Trip Verified | I Booked a flight to new York initially it was a direct flight but they kept changing my flight and it eventually went to a 1 stop flight I accepted that because I understood the situation with Covid. After a week they changed my flight to 2 stops (so it turns out its 2 stops for a 4 hour flight) and that was unacceptable for me because I'm flying with 2 kids, one is also a infant. So I refused that flight and asked for a refund because other airlines were offering a flight with 1 stop. They refused to give me a refund and instead they gave me a credit and the credit was non transferable and can only be used by the person on the ticket, but nobody in my family could use it and to even use it I have to pay an extra 1000 dollars to buy another ticket. So after that we decided to use Air Canada and we went through a transaction with them no problem.

"worst airline I have ever dealt with"

Trip Verified | This is probably the worst airline I have ever dealt with or experienced. First of all, the customer help is almost non-existent, we went through so much to have our flights changed when they said we couldn't go anymore during our original flight date in May so we had to go in June, the whole process was just too much. When we tried to leave Cancun, the people at WestJet said we could not get on the flight b/c apparently, the Hotel we were staying at did not give the correct test. At that point, we were very confused and tried to figure out where to get another test, which we did, to then the people at west jet saying we were basically on our own to figure out how to get home. They said they have flights in a week, and we had to contact them over the phone and when we tried to, our phones were not working properly and we could not get a hold of anyone from the west jet. I have a medical condition and needed my meds that would not last a whole week in Mexico. Luckily my sister was able to get a hold of us before our phones died and booked us new tickets with Delta which she had to pay for. Delta was great, the whole experience and they were able to help us with the covid test issue also. We also then found out that if we got on that plane and made it to the first stop at Toronto, we had to apparently quarantine there too before flying to Calgary so that flight would have cancelled also. Like why was not of this made aware to the customers? Like we had our hotel booked to quarantine in Calgary but then to find out after the fact that we would have not been able to get on the flights from Toronto to Calgary either, insane. (The employees told us, and said the flights there was cancelled too) I have been sick since i got back, and now trying to reach out to West jest and get a refund or something b/c we had to fly with a whole new airline. The experience was not good, and i could honestly go on about the other horrible parts on the initial part of the plane ride too, but i don't care for that just the fact i got stranded and would not get any help or information.

"their respect for the customer is zero"

Not Verified | My worst experience with an airline, their respect for the customer is zero. First, they have changed a direct ticket from Edmonton to Montreal to an indirect journey via Toronto without any compensation, changed to the early morning instead of a reasonable time. Their call-back service doesn't have any logical time slot (just crazy times like 04.15am?) I've been waiting on the phone in line for an agent for more than 1 hour. After all these stories they refund everything as a credit with an expiry date to make people suffer again by them in the future. What do they think exactly about the passengers?

"the customer service is very poor"

Not Verified | WestJet made changes to my itinerary that does not work for me at all. This was not my doing and I would like a full refund on my credit card, however WestJet only offers travel rewards. I do not want to fly with this company at all especially since the customer service is very poor. I have now already spent 8 hours on the phone, 4 hours online and no human contact to resolve this issue. I advise all potential travelers to consider other airlines rather than WestJet.
