"luggage did not arrive"

Not Verified | Terrible service. A three hour flight took two days and luggage did not arrive. Airline let exhausted passengers stand at the carousel waiting for over an hour before telling them their luggage did not arrive with them. Then they did not notify passengers when luggage arrived in Abbotsford. Had to go to the airport and get a Flair agent to track it down in storage. Avoid WestJet like the plague, if you can.

"Never flying with them again"

Trip Verified | Never flying with them again. My partner and I have been up since 330 am to 1am. They took us off our flight while on our flight to Calgary. We now have to find a way to Edmonton without a car or a way back home to B.C. First flight was canceled due to weather at 6.05am. Second flight was delayed from 1pm to 5pm then we arrived at 630 and found we can't even get to Edmonton. Its now 9pm no flight until tomorrow am at 10am. All I have to say is don't do it don't waste money or time dealing with them.

" Will not be flying with them again"

Trip Verified | Well, my experiences in past had always left me hesitant when booking with WestJet but my most recent experience was the nail in the coffin. Flying from Los Angeles to a city located in northern British Columbia, Canada, in Xmas season - the De-icing or unfreezing systems at the recieving airport were down for multiple days, however WestJet was still trying to fly planes on a 'as-can' basis. Fair. However, a warning should have been issued regarding the cancellation of flights that was occurring. We landed in Vancouver to be told that the next available flight given the demand from pushed flights was 4 days out, and that no expenses would be covered and it's all on the consumer. Not to mention the hardship caused via not attending work. No support offered, no resources to lean on, and most disgracefully, was selling available tickets in the days proceeding instead of offering affected customers modes of support. Will not be flying with them again.

"a problem with my boarding pass"

Not Verified | Leaving from Edmonton, I was the last one to board. Not that I was late but they would not allow me on because of a problem with my boarding pass. The info on my boarding pass was auto filled when I checked in online through my Westjet ID. My passport shows Jacques-peter as my first name. My boarding pass showed Jacques only. Even showed them my driver's license which says Jacques-p. Westjet's online systems do not allow entry of special characters for names so no choice on the hifen. Never had this problem before. Such a waste of effort and time. As if I am not the right guy. There is no question about my last name which is uncommon so what gives? My wife was already seated for 15 minutes and they finally let me on saying they would print me a new pass and bring it to my seat. They never came. Once at my seat (extra leg room), it is occupied by somebody else thinking nobody would show anymore, right. Had to put my carry-on 5 rows further as there was no room above my seat anymore. Then I get hassled by the flight attendent to hurry up because apparently I am causing a delay in departure. She purposely spoke loudly to make a public point so now I get dirty looks from other passengers. Pardon me, I say and explain the situation while getting seated but she does not listen to a word I say. Very rude. On top of all of that, Westjet updated their app and it tells me that my "tablet is no longer compatible with this version" so I had no "inflight" entertainment. I found out later the update was for security reasons. Sure, it is now so secure that I have to buy a new tablet to access it. I do all my banking on the tablet and my accounts are secure so why Westjet feels the need for a more secure version is beyond me. I asked them for free wifi on the flight to compensate and they would not give it to me.

"worst experience with WestJet"

Not Verified | I just had the worst experience with WestJet, Booked 7 days in Varadero 7-Dec-14 Dec, arrived at the airport 4 hours early. Found out the flight was delayed, flight number; WS 2698, seat 26F After boarding found my seat, only entertainment; looking out the window watching loading the airplane with vacationers' luggage and heavy loads of different parcels what needed two workers to be able to lift it and put it on a loading ramp, and that was going on for over an hour, finally the flight left. When we arrived at Varadero no luggage and another couple's luggage is missing as well. Four days later a lady from Calgary checked in to the same Hotel, met her in the hotel lobby, her luggage was missing too. Useless customer representatives: "Here is the link to last and found you have to find your luggage" With the help of the hotel, we replied to WestJet lost and found. No response from WestJet, every day we requested follow-up what we never got. WestJet not only lost my luggage and clothes but also lost the Christmas present of children and families, toothbrush-paste-soap-pencils-socks and more. And it is not finished yet, on arrival back to TO 14-Dec went to the WestJet lost luggage counter at the Airport, told my situation, a male representative took the information and told me the next day on the 15-Dec the luggage will be delivered between 9-12 AM, was waiting and waiting, and it was not, on the 16-Dec went back to the airport at this time spoke to a female representative, she admitted that the male co-worker made a false promise, and promise me on a swift follow up, today is 19-December and I still don't have my luggage. What WestJet doing; when the weight of the cargo is over the limit the airplane allow to carry they remove vacationers' luggage to bring down the total weight of the cargo in order to be able to fly, need to be investigated, meantime have no other choice than hope that I will get my luggage back,

"WestJet has become irresponsible, is not what I knew about this airline"

Trip Verified | We bought tickets for a wedding to fly out on Dec 16/2021. At Pearson airport we are told that there is a problem with the crew and we have to fly out by American Airlines to a different destination - San Jose. We lost money on our hotel reservation and rental car at Sacramento, we had to redo hotel and car at San Jose then we are currently at Los Angeles airport. Took WestJet 2.5 hours to check us in only to be told that there is a flight crew problem again, no crew to work. So we are being rerouted to Calgary instead of Toronto. We have our boarding passes in our hand and we get a call from WestJet 1800 number saying they can’t confirm even this flight. WestJet has become irresponsible, is not what I knew about this airline. I am now stranded at LA airport wondering if the boarding pass in my hand is a valid document. Time will tell in 1 hour.

"What a let down"

Not Verified | What a let down, WestJet staff know nothing other than their immediate station, and aren't able to help with anything. In the same trip we were delayed 24 hours in the Calgary Airport, our checked luggage is still not returned to us, we received no vouchers for the delay and added expense, and we got 3 different answers from 3 different people when asking the same questions. There are no means of calling someone to find out whats going on without a 5 (yes Five) day call back time. Don't use WestJet for International travel.

"bag would be checked through to Toronto"

Trip Verified | When I checked my bag at Honolulu, I was told it would go through to my final destination Toronto even though I had a layover in Vancouver. On board the flight to Vancouver I checked with the flight attendant who confirmed my bag would be checked through to Toronto. On landing, I checked with the gate agent who confirmed my bag would go through to Toronto. Imagine my shock as I walked past the Vancouver luggage carousel to see my bag drop through the chute. I asked at the baggage desk why this would happen when three Westjet employees independently confirmed the bag would go straight through to Toronto, his answer was simply "It is after 10:00 pm." Apparently, after 10 they place all luggage on the carousel. If I had not seen it as I walked past the carousel, it never would have arrived in Toronto until God knows when. What utter incompetence by Westjet employees who should have known about this policy but did not. Three of them. So this was obviously not an isolated incident. Incompetence in Honolulu. Incompetence on board the flight Incompetence in Vancouver.

"Westjet has become a joke airline"

Trip Verified | On a beautiful sunny day the 35 minute flight from Edmonton to Calgary is delayed 4 hours, half of that spent sitting on tarmac. Missed connecting flight in Calgary, one agent available to rebook about 40 stranded passengers. Told that next available flight to get to my destination is in two days. Two weeks prior, have to call in to get a kennel added to itinerary. "Higher than normal call activity, would you like to schedule a callback" Earliest available scheduled callback is seven days away. One of many examples over the past few months of how Westjet has become a joke airline.
