"Never again will I fly WestJet"
Grant Drury (Canada)
Not Verified | I flew to Jamaica with my wife in April 2022. The plane was 2.5 hours late travelling down. The staff were incredibly rude - you felt like hiding so they would not yell at you, which they did to too many passengers, really over nothing. When we landed we had to stay trapped on a hot plane for 30 minutes. The return was no better. Angry rude staff. No food service. No entertainment. Never again will I fly WestJet.

"most unfriendly cabin crew I’ve seen"
G Meares (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Have flown often with Westjet and this was the most unfriendly cabin crew I’ve seen. With the exception of one female attendant, the others were rude. When asked a question, an attendant was unnecessarily curt. No smiles onboard todays flight WS02 May 9 2022. For an over 8 hour flight we were only offered a small glass of water once. On our flight over to the UK on Westjet a bottle of water was in every seat pocket. No wifi and entertainment system broke down. Our tickets got changed so that we have a 6 hr layover in Calgary so raced to see if we could get on the mid afternoon flight, the gate attendant basically said it was too much work for her to change to get on that flight. We would have gladly paid and I suggested standby but she said no she thought the flight was full and would involve too much work!

"says my baggage has been delayed"
Megumi Randall (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Absolutely awful. Here's a breakdown of what happened within the last 48+ hours (May 4-6, 2022), when going from Montreal to Vancouver with a layover in Toronto: I arrive at the Montreal YUL airport at 2:50 pm for a 5:30 pm flight. I receive an email from WestJet at 2:56 pm that my flight has been canceled, and the next available flight is 7 am the next day. This was after I had taken a long trip to the airport. I talk to the supervisor, and they said they are unable to transfer my ticket to another airline such as Air Canada unless I buy an entirely new ticket. Even then, they cannot guarantee reimbursement. Thus, I have to stay at a nearby hotel, which costs 160$ a night. They said they are unable to reimburse. I checked on the Canadian Transportation Agency website, which states that they are required to pay for my hotel. When I showed them this, they changed their tune and said that I have to file a reimbursement claim online. They were dishonest with me until I showed them that they are required by law to compensate. I take the 7am flight and arrive in Vancouver. WestJet says my baggage has been delayed, and that they will receive it at 2pm the same day and send a carrier to bring it to my home. They told me it would be at my home within 8 to 10 hours of arrival. Right now, it is 11:30pm the next day and I have not received the baggage. I am currently on hold (It's been over an hour) to talk to the baggage claim clerk. Yes, this nightmare is still on-going. I understand that cancellations and delays happen, but I have never experienced such incompetence, dishonesty, and opaqueness with an airline before.

"What a horrible flight"
Jay Durie (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | What a horrible flight! Flying WestJet is an absolute nightmare. Returning from Nassau on Friday April 29, 2022, to Toronto, the plane was late. The staff were extremely rude even when answering simple questions. There was a stewardess that was yelling at people to put on their masks - even when passengers did have a full face mask on it was never good enough. The mask had to be slightly higher or lower. It was the worst flight experience both ways. After the plane food service began, almost every passenger removed their masks - this was now allowed because you bought a drink or had a glass of water. So what then was the real problem? The seats were so small and cramped together. There was No food service at all and No entertainment. What a joke.

"I would not fly on WestJet if I could fly for free!"
Brad Boyd (Canada)
Not Verified | WestJet has lost it's way. They are so far out - that they're on their way back. The staff were very terse and rude. The flight was late - both ways. We waited for WestJet screwup's for a total of 4.5 hours: longer that the entire flight took one way. The seats were filthy and crammed together. I would not fly on WestJet if I could fly for free! Yes, it's now that bad.

"going downhill fast"
Nuno Resendesj (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | April 28, 2022. WJ #2247 Puerto Vallarta to Calgary, Alberta Fight time 4.5 hrs. (On time) Baggage from aircraft to baggage carousel took 1.75 hrs. Shame on you Westjet, this is not the first time. Used to be a good airline, but going downhill fast. Get your act together, or will be looking elsewhere.

"not consider WestJet for future trips"
Karen Kozokowsky (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | We decided to upgrade our seat for our return trip on WestJet to Premium and paid an additional $334.00 USD. When we checked in it charged us an additional $60 USD for baggage. We are not impressed as there really wasn't much difference but a little extra leg room. The seats were still as uncomfortable as economy. It was an evening over night flight so we didn't get a meal just water and snack. The service was minimal as the steward basically stayed in the front. Not happy and would not consider WestJet for future trips and definitely do not recommend to family or friends.

"the worst customer service ever"
Ken Moores (Canada)
Not Verified | WestJet has the worst customer service ever. They delayed our flight from Orlando. And made us miss our connection flight from Toronto to Calgary. We had to stay 24 hours in Toronto before we can get another flight. You would figure they would get you on the next flight but nope. They say it’s not WestJet fault so we had to pay for hotel and food. Our luggage went to Calgary without us. Absolutely no help from WestJet

"extra legroom seats really worth it"
1 reviews R Meares (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | First time on Westjet 787. A marked improvement on the 767. Food is served, good entertainment options, comfortable seats, mood lighting. Took option for extra legroom seats, around row 9 to 14 and really worth it. Westjet is comparable with cross Atlantic competitors. Do not view them as a low cost alternative.

"WestJet used to be my first choice"
C James (Canada)
✅ Trip Verified | Flight was canceled and was put onto the next outgoing flight which was 12 hours later than the original. I received no accommodation, no meal ticket, nothing to help me while I waited for my new flight. The customer assistance desk made me leave the waiting area because she told me my bags were in arrivals, which was incorrect. So I couldn't even get a meal because I wasn't allowed back past security till the next morning. This was not a vacation but a work related trip and WestJet used to be my first choice to fly but now I will only take them if no other company services the area I'm flying into.
