✅ Trip Verified | I arrived Two hours before my flight to YYC. Their Kiosk were not working for many people to print out the luggage tags causing the long lines. The agents there would not assist they just said to get in line. They were rude and didn't care that they were causing the delays for us to proceed to the gates. I had one of them tell me I should have gotten there earlier, but he didn't even know what time I got there. This was said to me an hour after i got to the airport. Result of this I almost missed my flight, having my name called and having to run to the gate to catch the plane without anybody from West Jet to assist. I had a security officer go get a manager to help. if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have missed it. The manager came to help takes my passport from me and is gone with it for 15 minutes. He did help me in the end but he should not take this important document from people. He lost my covid vaccine card so not telling what happed to it. I paid for seat change, didn't get that but paid for it. My bag was left behind and just got it this afternoon. They told me at IAH that there were some bags out on the tarmac so i waited two hours to see if mine was there, but it wasn't I asked an Houston WestJet agent is they can check my baggage claim ticket to see if it made it on the flight. he tells me it doesn't work like that. I am going to call BS on that why do you have a scanned bar code and a claim number given. I could have left at 5:30 pm to go home if I would have known it was left in Edmonton. These people at the baggage drop off in Edmonton were rude and could care else if you make your flight. When I got to the gate I expressed my lateness is WESTJETS fault. I had my 81 Year old mom with me to catch different flight ... as I was running to the gate pretty much had to be rude to get my mom assisted to the gate. She said they treated her great after me having to get rude with them .... very disappointed in this airline. I fly to Canada once a year and never experience this treatment from Air Canada, United, Delta Looking at their other reviews I am not the only one that has experienced poor service. Also their plans need to be updated no tv on the back on the seats why not we are 2024 .... the food on the plane is horrible.

"trying to get a refund"

✅ Trip Verified | On June 23rd, myself and three others flew from Austin to Vancouver to take the Rocky Mountaineers train ride from Vancouver to Banff. On June 28th, we were transported to Calgary to catch a flight home on the 29th. On the evening of the 28th, I paid for 4 bags for the airline and checked in all four of us for the flight the next day. This was done through the concierge services of the hotel. The following morning, June 29th, as we were leaving the hotel, we were informed by some other hotel guests that Westjet flights were cancelled due to a strike. West jet did not inform us then nor have I had any information from them since. The concierge service helped us book flights on Canada Air back home. I have written Westjet guest relations and left all of my contact information twice. I have tried calling 4 times to get put in the endless loop and then their machine hangs up on me. I am trying to get a refund of the flight they did not deliver as well as the baggage fees I paid which they never got the bags because the flight was cancelled. I would also like to be refunded for the missed connecting flight with Delta Airlines from LA to Austin

✅ Trip Verified | Booked two flights. One from Belize City to Toronto on 20th of November, second from Ottawa to Edmonton on 22 of November. Out of nowhere 2 months before the flight Westjet decides to change the date from Belize City to Toronto to the next day - 21st of November without any other options in near by days. So you either have to eat it up or cancel.. ok. I'm trying to adapt and accept the option, but before i do. I am trying to call westjet and explain that the plain from Belize city to Toronto is going to fly into Toronto at late even almost 9 PM if everything goes smooth, and the original flight from Ottawa to Edmonton was planned the next day at 6:30 AM already... so because they decided to change the dates themselves i asked if i would be able to change the time for the second flight from Ottawa to Edmonton so I could actually make it. Their response was no - it is not possible. Even price was either the same for later time or a bit more ( I could pay extra). No is a No from them. That means - Westjet can change your flights as they please, but when you need some help to deal with their mess ups - it's not their responsibility anymore but your own fault. Terrible customer service - will try my best to never fly with them again. Worst airline experience ever - no accountability for their own mess ups.

✅ Trip Verified | One of my worst experiences on any carrier. We reached the Toronto airport and WestJet systems were down. The check in line was 3 hours long and there was absolutely chaos. Westjet ground staff was so casual and unprofessional, you had people missing their flights and the ground staff was lazy, unprofessional and didn’t seem bothered at the least. Everyone was asked to wait in line even if their flights were about to depart. I waited in line and missed my flight. Westjet added me to another flight but in all the chaos forgot to add my luggage on that flight. I haven’t travelled in such a pathetic airline. This was my first and last experience with WestJet. Please spend a few extra dollars and book another airline, this one is not worth it.

✅ Trip Verified | My Father is 88 years old and just had a hip replacement. His mobility is limited and he tires easily. We were concerned with him navigating the Edmonton and Calgary air terminals and security. We requested a wheelchair and assistance from West Jet. The West Jet Agents went above and beyond to help my Father. Asked how his trip was, I will quote my Father, "Great, they treated me like I was Royalty". Thank you so much for helping my Father. Great job West Jet.

✅ Trip Verified | Ground staff are incompetent. They held my passport. They did not recognize that I had paid online. I had to call my bank and the transaction dispute is now ongoing. My bags were not tagged to the final destination. They did not tell me that. I noticed it by accident and then had to recheck in halfway through the flight path. I also had no check in or ticket for the second flight. The ground staff made up prices. First 147.50 or 148.50 CAD then 78.50 CAD. I had status on Delta. The website was not working properly. This is unfortunately a really terribly run airline. The desk staff are simply bad at their job. Also, be sure your passport doesn't disappear.

"rather send out a half empty plane"

✅ Trip Verified | I missed my flight today and that's totally on me. However, after being nickled and dimed for every imaginable service and then charging 4x as much as flair that offers basically the same service they would rather send out a half empty plane than even entertain the thought of putting me on standby. I checked to see if there were seats before asking and yep, plane was only about half full. After being shot down, I was also told that non of the add ons (like checked baggage) that I paid extra for can be transferred to the new ticket that I would have to buy. Also, that new ticket would cost me $850 for a one way flight that takes 2 hours. I did check again just before the gates closed how many seats were left, still about half were left. The only reasons I can imagine that they would have this kind of policy is to either really hammer home that you better pay that extra $200 for the ability to change your flights or spite I guess.

✅ Trip Verified | I am surprised by how bad a customer service of a company can be. My wife flight got cancelled, they asked her to take a hotel 61 km away from airport at 2 am in Toronto, That hotel didn't have a room, then she came back to get another hotel at 4:00 am. They put it on a flight three days later. (Didn't care that people had work to do and need to get to their hometown.) They just offer 15 usd for the compensation without reimbursement of the hotel, taxi as well as another flight that we got to get her home soon. I called them and a rude agent told me that you have accent I don't understand you.

Not Verified | Flight got canceled due to worker strike. We were stranded in the airport with no help from the airline. Could not get any flight back to Phoenix within 3-4 days even longer. We finally booked a flight from Vancouver to Phoenix two days after and rented a car drove over 11 hours from Calgary to Vancouver to catch the flight. The extra hotel stays, rental car expenses and flight tickets cost near $2000 not including two days of lost wages for me and my husband. We filed a claim with WestJet and got response over 50 days after stating the claim is rejected because the instance is out of their control. We got $0 compensation. There is really no protection for customers. And no customer service at all.
