"worst AVML on any flight so far"

Not Verified | San Francisco to Tokyo Narita leg of my itinerary was operated by United. Boarding started 30 min late. The announcements of the two gates, the other being for Singapore, kept mixing creating an unprofessional start to the flight. As a vegetarian I picked AVML meal. I was served the worst AVML on any flight so far. Especially the supposedly dinner was a mushy mix of oats, with lots of cinnamon and raisin with piece of Naan bread. Then second leg from Tokyo Narita to Bangkok with ANA flight was like a dream. How come Japan could do so well and United sucks so miserably. Hey United people, please go fly a few times with ANA economy and learn how decent airlines work.

"won’t recommend United to others"

Trip Verified | The worst airline ever! Would give a “0” if i could! All the flight attendants in our flight were so rude, no manners and very unprofessional! Our flight was from LOS ANGELES to SYDNEY on United 839, departing 18th January 2024. We encountered 3 flight attendants, and not even one of them was decent!! We have never been treated this way with any other airlines! We travelled as a group of 6. One of our 4 sons has nuts allergy. The man asked if he wanted butter chicken or pasta. And my older son told him that his brother has a nut allergy. The man said. “Well I don’t know if the food contain any nuts. You need to request it prior to the flight.” Then he just walked past and served others. My husband had to call him and said, “My son didn’t get his food. He wanted the pasta!” No apology from him! For breakfast time, he also missed my eldest son. Then my husband called him again, and the man said so rudely, “Well he didn’t respond to me so I thought he didn’t want it!” We sat behind our 3 sons, and we definitely saw that he only asked our son on the aisle seat. He went past so in hurry serving other customers on the other side. We couldn’t believe how rude he was! Second flight attendant was also very rude! My 5 year old son was sitting next to me on the window seat. He is the most well behaved 5 yo kids I know. During the entire 15 hours flight, he was quiet, sleeping well, and sitting happily playing games on his iphone and watching the in flight movies. Around 5am he was already awake, so he started playing piano on his phone. It was not loud at all, because I was sitting next to him. There was a point he put the volume to max for 2 seconds, and I told him to turn down which he immediately did. Suddenly this woman came to my husband, and said in a very rude and aggressive way, saying, “He is not supposed to play on his phone while everyone else is sleeping!” I was very angry and said, “he is not even loud!” I showed her the phone and the volume was 1. And she said, “I was there and could hear him from afar!” And just left! Unbelievable behaviour! The third attendant - we called the help button as my son needed something. She came and said, “It’s very bumpy! We can’t get out!” (She could just wait for a few more seconds and said sorry I couldn’t come right away!) Another incident, she gave my son the wrong breakfast. My 5yo were sitting on 50L. She gave him the food which labelled 50E. Luckily I checked first, it is a meal with special dietary/allergy requests. So we called the help button, it wasn’t her who came to us. She said, “Oh glad you noticed that!” My husband replied, “Of course we noticed!” It could have been a disaster that someone else’s meal was served to the wrong person! No apology at all! No saying thank you that we actually didn’t eat the meal! Such disgusting manners from all these 3 flight attendants. Our first time flying with United, and will never ever fly with them again! Our flight wasn’t cheap too. Travelling 6 of us, we paid around $2000 AUD per person! So in total, we spent a good $12K. We definitely won’t recommend United to others!

“Shame on you”

Trip Verified | To the executive leadership of the United Airlines: You are now charging a fee for small carryon bags? What a genius idea. The size of planes didn’t change. The size of overhead compartments didn’t change. What also didn’t change is your sick greed. You’re now not allowing even a carryon? And also no water or snack or drink on flight? You’re basically decreasing service, and increasing fees to line your pockets. At least if you paid your employees more. What’s next? You’re going to charge a fee for passengers to pre-pay for their masks and flotation devices if there’s an emergency? What’s next? You’ll bring your flight staff down to minimum wage and expect passengers to tip them to compensate? You’re absolutely disgusting. Shame on you.

"one of the best flights"

Not Verified | I would say this is one of the best flights we've had. Left Heathrow slightly late but arrived half an hour ahead of schedule. The food on board was delicious and served when we wanted. The crew I would say, without hesitation, were exceptional. I will give a special thanks to Christine who made our long flight a pleasure. Thank you United.

“it was a terrible experience”

Trip Verified | I bought ticket from Lufthansa and didn’t know that they were working with United Airlines. From Frankfurt to Houston and from Houston to Dallas I flew with United. From start to end it was a terrible experience. Frankfurt-Houston flight delayed 1.5 hours. Before the flight in the security check they didn’t explain that I need to take my baggage in Houston and re-check for Dallas. Cabin crew were so rude, and not helpful (except food service personnel). Houston to Dallas flight time was 8.10 pm and I was running to catch it, because the plane landed in Houston at 7 pm. When I came to the gate saw that Dallas flight postponed 2.5 hours (and gate changed three times) After long wait, I was in Dallas at 12 am, but this time I waited for my baggage and learned that they are in Houston in US customs. The person in baggage claim was very rude and not helpful, just was saying that it was my mistake. After 7 hours from the landing to Houston (Houston-Dallas takes 4 hours by car), I was at home at 2 am without my baggage and in a very tired condition. It was my first connected flight from Europe and it was terrible experience. I strongly suggest people to find direct flights even if the wait time is longer.

“the last time I take United Airlines”

Trip Verified | My flight was delayed four times due to the weather conditions. I started traveling at 9:00am eastern time. The first flight was delayed in Cincinnati due to the weather in Chicago. At that point I should have been provided the option to travel at a later time. Instead I was put on a plane to Chicago where I was scheduled to depart at 12:40pm. The flight was not only delayed but the there was a gate change also resulting in several people needing to rush from B19 to C30 which is a good 10 - 15 minutes away. At 5:00 pm we were informed that the flight was canceled. United Airlines was unavailable by phone due to the amount of customers attempting to make contact. After standing in line for 2 hours to watch unprofessional employees get frustrated due to the weather delays. Not only did they get frustrated they walked away from customers to get dinner, texted and entertained social media why people waited for assistance. The airline refused to pay for a hotel and offered a $15 meal ticket to accommodate someone sitting 20 hours in the airport away from home. Not to mention it was -8 degrees outside and they didn’t even offer the customers a blanket. This will most definitely be the last time I take United Airlines anywhere. I hope to leave at 9:00 am as scheduled!

"Flights were okay"

Not Verified | Flights here were okay, but flights leaving are a real pain. Their signage is terrible and they don't inform you on the app. But if you pre-check you have to still pre-check at the airport and get a copy of your driver's license before you even get in line to board.

"no better than Spirit or Frontier"

Trip Verified | The seat assignments and boarding is similar to an cheapo airline. They make you pay for a seat assignment and then only give you an option for a seat in the far back of the plane. The flight is full, but there are plenty of seats available in the front of the plane for even more money. So, it appears that if you do not pay for a seat assignment, then those vacant seats must be assigned to those folks who didn’t pay for a seat assignment. United is becoming no better than Spirit or Frontier Airlines. What a joke.

"an amiable cabin crew"

Trip Verified |  It's always a pleasure to fly United Airlines in this modern era. Flying on jets like the 787 is always good. Inflight entertainment with favorite movies, free Wi-Fi with T-Mobile, mood lighting, and larger overhead bins. It would've been better if United served free food and not food for purchase. But other than that, with an amiable cabin crew and a safe flight with a few turbulences, I can't say enough about it.
