✅ Trip Verified | Extortionary Luggage Fees. I prepaid for 2 suitcases at $30 a piece for a limit of 50 lbs. My wife's luggage was 58 lbs. I was forced to pay $100 for the extra 8 lbs. If I bought a second luggage, it would have been another $40. I fully understand that I have to pay a penalty for extra weight. However, this charge was totally unreasonable. I would expect an extra $25 to $30 for the excess 8 lbs. My wife needs special assistance and carries extra stuff. It looks like I wouldn't be flying "the friendly skies" anytime soon.

Not Verified | I tried flying to England from Newark twice, and twice my flight was delayed. The first time my flight was canceled after 7 hours of prevaricating. I am still waiting to see what will become of my second flight, but I am not hopeful as boarding has been delayed 4 times and circumstances are repeating themselves with an almost eerie accuracy.

✅ Trip Verified | Flight to Frankfurt canceled, automatically changed for next day. Terrible service, they leave you stranded. No effort to find an alternative flight. Never again.

Not Verified | I would rather lick someone’s dirty socks than fly United again. The customer service was absolutely awful. We were two minutes late for our flight that was running 15 minutes behind schedule. We were not even directly told by the service representative that we were unable to get on before they just rebooked us for another flight. No one communicated with us that we could have still gotten on our plane if we didn’t check a car seat. Management was super disrespectful and again not communicative. We would not have minded being rescheduled if we had even been asked or told that it was happening before being handed a boarding pass for a flight four hours later. United airlines wants to stick to the policy that wasn’t on my booking, but has to be looked up on the website to find.

✅ Trip Verified | If you are an occasional international traveler, here is a watch-out when booking thru UA. If your UA travel includes international partners and your fare includes advanced seat selection, know that you very well may not be able to select seats on those partner airlines without paying additional fees. UA does disclose this under their website's FAQ area (rather buried) but totally does not disclose this when the ticket is purchased. If traveling with others and sitting together is important, such as for long overseas flights, then know that for UA partner airlines you will probably have to pay more for advanced seat selection. A bit of a bait-and-switch, not getting what was advertised. Shame!

Not Verified | I had purchased an upgrade Economy to Business in October 2022. The cost for 2 was was $400 x 2 and 20000 miles X 2 for a May 31 flight. Paris to Washington DC no seats available. So, United promised a return of miles and money if not available. Never happened.

✅ Trip Verified | Checking in with United Airlines is awful, had to wait a very long time for my ticket to print out. Then they canceled my return flight back a number of two times. I had to extend my stay, take off more days of work so I can get on the next plane which wasn’t until three days later. Three days before my return flight home they canceled that one and made it the next day. Meanwhile I had already booked accommodation for an extra three days. Therefore I had to cancel the whole return flight in total because the new date that they were flying out was the next day after the original. This airline will play around, making you spend more money than necessary, and I already made a vow not to ever fly with United. It’s cheaper to fly with quality airlines and pay 2k than to pay 1k with United, $200+ in extra hotels, and 2k on another ticket back home that’s not with United. Not to mention, the dinner served on overnight flights are nasty, and it’s impossible to sleep in economy, the only thing that was good was the Diet Coke. Other than that the flight attendants were nice

Not Verified | I recently flew with my wife from Indianapolis to Frankfurt with a layover in Chicago. The flight from Chicago to Frankfurt was very disappointing. We were in a row near the end of the plane. Our first encounter with cabin staff was a flight attendant throwing the earbuds at us instead of passing them down. Staff barely stopped to hear a reply from customers when asking if we wanted water or beverages and no one stopped to take garbage before take-off. The most disappointing was the meal service. They prepared just enough meals for the entire flight but by the time they got to our rows near the back of the flight, they were only providing the vegetarian meal which was bland and featured a strange salad. I don't know when they ran out of other meal options but they served this to at least 50 or more passengers. The in-flight Wi-Fi worked at the beginning and end but was not available during the middle of the flight..

Not Verified | The layout in the plane is very tight and I am a regular 180 lbs male. Service is mediocre at best. I took the flight from Chicago to Rome and Barcelona going back to Chicago, with a total mileage of 9,000+. United Airlines' MileagePlus gave me 4,000+ mileage. Not only do they suck at service and making the flight on time, they also choke their MileagePlus customer. Stay AWAY from United Airlines!

✅ Trip Verified | Unbelievable! Our direct flight has been cancelled just 1 hour before departure. After long waiting united offered 2 options: to flight 2 days later with 1 transfer, or flight 1 day later with 2 transfers. They do not care about this delay and the fact we have to change flights. We had economy plus seats, they were unable to book us to this class again, we landed in economy class. Our travel has been delayed by 36 hours and did not get any compensation for the missed time, scheduled working days and the 3 flights instead of the direct flight. The service line did not do anything for us.
