TAROM Romanian

OTO-BCN El Prat with Boeing 737-700 (old aircraft). Both flights almost full in economy class area the outbound flight on time the inbound flight delayed by 90 min. Cabin crew with no smile and arrogant hot meals (breakfast and lunch) good but in small portions two rounds of drinks (including tea coffee and alcoholic beverages). For 3 hours of entertainment: just the screens with the progression of the flight and some magazine. Better than a few years ago but they still have space to improve the experience with TAROM.

Bucharest-Amman return with Airbus 318 check-in on-line. Good flight with decent meal and beverages (including alcoholic beverages). No IFE (only the Insight Magazine) but they gave us pillow and blankets. The cabin crew were a bit arrogant but for the flight crew ten points! Overall a good experience.

Flew OTP-BUD-OTP last month both trips with ATR42 respectively ATR72 with comfortable seats. No inflight entertainment but it's a short 1:20 flight. The catering wasn't so good I could not eat the sandwich offered. Good selection of beverages although alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The good was on the departure from Bucharest we came at 7:45 and at that time the baggage drop-off time was closed (departure at 8.15). We managed to get on the plane since the staff from OTP was very helpful. Both on departure and return the flights were on time take off and landing.

IST-OTP on A318. Allocated seat 8B (directly in front of emergency exit). It didn't recline (no problem) but was fixed in a completely upright position and was incredibly uncomfortable. Politely asked to move to other available seats and was spoken to very rudely by flight attendant. All four crew members unsmiling and robotic throughout the flight. I've flown with Tarom several times previously. There service standard are well below their competitors. If you're only interested in getting from A to B they do the job. But if you want any level of service (which you should expect given their high fares) they're best avoided.

I flew from Vienna to Cluj and onward to Bucharest. On the first leg they offered me a large and delicious warm meal. On the second part of the trip they offered me two ham and cheese sandwiches with butter a large milka chocolate caramel bar and two drinks including Romanian beer and wine! Seats were comfortable on both occasions the aircraft arrived on time. Excellent legroom and very friendly crew! Will definitely fly TAROM again.

CLJ-OTP-DUB-OTP-CLJ. Perfect service all flights on time. Decent hot meals on the 3.5 hr flight from Bucharest to Dublin. Ham sandwich and cookie on both the short-leg CLJ-OTP flights. Free drinks including beer and a nice selection of Romanian wines. The ATR 42-500 aircraft used on CLJ-OTP flights are starting to become old and creaky but otherwise there were all safe and comfortable flights.

Vienna-Bucharest-Cluj-Vienna. It was probably one of the best airlines I had flown so far. Their service was astounding as well as the whole crew. They served us a hot and filling meal on the Vienna - Bucharest leg (2 omelettes with ham bacon potato croquettes and a large fruit salad. 3 drinks had been included. On the Bucharest-Cluj leg (One large ham and cheese salad sandwich with a chocolate rum cake and 3 drinks) and on the final leg it was a large salad consisting of just about everything! Crew were highly attentive and kind. will definitely fly them again!

SBZ-MUC-SBZ (24-27 May 2013) - Boeing 737NG with plenty of legroom in economy class. Nice staff and pleasant services. Quite tasty chicken sandwich decent enough for a 1.5 hrs flight. Great value for price much cheaper than LH!

I flew to VIE from OTP and back. Good legroom. Good food and service and large selection of soft drinks. Managed to check-in on-line for both flights after a few tries. Also I booked on line with no problem. The terminal in OTP much better than the one in VIE. Both trips on time. I will fly again with Tarom. The price of the ticket was cheaper then OS to my surprise.

Iasi-Rome promotional tickets at a bargain price. The flight out of Iasi was 1 hour late due to weather. During this time the pilot kept passengers informed. Service on this 2 hour flight consisted of a sandwich and non-alcoholic drinks. Seats comfortable price good baggage delivery on time. All in all a pleasant experience and worth the money paid.
