We live in Toronto and have flown out of Buffalo NY into Florida for years. We were delighted to find out that flights were available from Niagara Falls into Fort Lauderdale. Flight cost was a couple hundred less than other carriers for the dates we had searched. We were sure to read all of the details in traveling with this discount airline. We took advantage of checking in bags online booked seats in the exit rows for a little extra space and checked-in/printed out boarding pass before heading to the airport which not only saved money in the long run but also meant that we literally spent less than 5 min. in the fast bag drop line at Fort Lauderdale airport. On our outboard flight we were delayed getting into Niagara Falls due to a snow storm and arrived to the check in counter 15 min. prior to the scheduled departure time. They gladly took our bags and we boarded the aircraft which was delayed by a 1/2 hour due to weather for the incoming flight. On the return flight we found out 4 hours prior to our departure that the flight would be delayed by 1 hour this was a little tough to hear as we were taking a night flight which meant that we would now not arrive into Niagara Falls until 2am. All was fine and the flight left as per the delay that was noted on the companies website. We would fly this airline again have in fact already booked the family in for our Cruise out of Miami in October. Even with the added cost for bag check- in and upgrade to exit row seats we still find this airline to be much more cost effective. You can't expect to fly with a discount carrier and expect a Delta flight. The only one negative thing that we can say it that we wished that the seats on the aircraft reclined on the overnight flights.

Flight 319 MSP-RSW 3/1/2014. Flight 318 RSW-MSP 3/5/14. Do your homework lower your expectations and enjoy your cheap airfare. They charge for everything water to check a bag to stow your carry-on in the overhead compartment to choose a seat print your boarding pass at the airport. Do your homework and figure out what makes the most sense for your trip and don't assume you'll get anything for free. For 2 of us checking one bag and purchasing our seats was still $150 cheaper than 2 tickets on Delta. You are allowed one free carry- on bag but it needs to fit under the seat and must meet the dimensions set by Spirit we each had computer bags and were just fine. Checked baggage must weigh less than 40 lbs - 10lbs lighter than most airlines. There is no wifi on board. There are no inflight magazines bring a book or buy a magazine. The seats are smaller than normal coach. If you are uncomfortable in coach seats on Delta don't fly Spirit. I'm 5'5' and 6 months pregnant with an aisle seat on a 3 hour flight I was fine. They will try to sell you a credit card they're not super pushy but it's a little annoying. We checked in online within 24 hours printed our boarding passes with no problem. We went in with super low expectations and arrived at the airport 2 hours early. If you check in online you qualify for "quick check in" so we actually bypassed the line when we flew home. In MSP we waited 15 minutes. The ticket agents in MSP and Ft. Myers were friendly and helpful. Our outbound flight was a bit delayed because the inbound flight had to de-ice. Boarded at the time the plane was supposed to depart but they were efficient and we landed 5 minutes early. Flight home after vacation actually left early and landed 15 minutes early. Flight attendants on both flights were friendly and nice. Our luggage arrived in one piece.

I was so sceptical of this airline after so many bad reviews but had no choice as I needed a quick reasonable flight to Vegas from Houston. Left 3-1 got to the airport 1 hour 15 mins early. I recommend 1.5 hrs. Staff were friendly and flight left on time. Yes plane seats are tight and the plane was not the prettiest but the flight was smooth and we arrived 10 minutes early. Got bags within 15 minutes of landing and was out of the door. They do nickle and dime you if you let them. We printed our boarding passes at home - no charge paid the lowest fee for bags online in advance $30 for checked ate breakfast before we left and brought a couple of snacks on the plane and did not pay for any of their snacks or drinks. Flight attendants were courteous. My ticket with checked luggage was $107 one way. I already had tix returning on SW so I can only speak to the outbound flight. Do not pick your own seats unless you have small kids other than that you will sit together or people are happy to move around for parties to sit together. Remember no bags over 40 pounds or you pay so pack lightly.

O'Hare to Cancun on Feb 22nd with a connecting flight in Ft. Lauderdale. ORD to FLL flight went smooth. Yes cramped and paid $3 for a drink but ok. FLL to CUN - bad! Right before boarding started one flight attendant was taken and put on another flight. A 3 hour wait for a new attendant. After finally boarding we had to wait because two passengers changed their mind and didn't want to go to Cancun. We had to wait until their luggage was off the plane before when could take off. The least they could have done was give us a free drink for all the waiting we did! Flight home was just delay after delay gate changes and just made for a very long flight home. After adding all the costs a direct flight with a different carrier would have been better.

I paid an additional $100 on departure and $40 on the return. I read the rules and attempted to interface with the website! I cannot find one positive review. Unfortunately my wife and I elected to participate in a "Mystery Deal" and drew Spirit. Had we known it was Spirit in advance we would have passed. Spirit really is the Greyhound Bus of the sky. If one voluntarily books a flight on Spirit Airlines he/she is a glutton for punishment or has very low expectations.

The flight attendants are rude and not courteous at all. They said on both flights that their credit card machines were broken and only accepted cash for drinks. I am 5'7" tall and my knees were almost touching the seat in front of me I feel bad for anyone taller! This is the worst airline I have used and will never use them again. The planes are old. I rode in the big seats on the way to my vacation and they are old and look like they never get cleaned. Pay the extra money and use a different airline!

Had to clean my seat before I sat down. I had paid the extra $50 fee for the first row because I was ill. Mistake to think that would make a difficult time easier. Did not rush on plane being ill and knowing I paid extra $50. All the overhead space above my seat was full. Paying extra $50 should allow you to board earlier so people don't steal your space. I had to use overhead halfway down plane. I could not access my bag for water medicine blanket. I could not exit the plane quickly. I could not get to my bag. People said you get what you pay for I didn't even get that. I will never fly Spirit again.

Flight 667 3/1/2014 and flight 202 3/3/2014. Be aware of the baggage policy. Flying out with my 2 items nothing was said about paying for a "carry-on." Coming home as I was about to board the gate agent made me pay $100 for a carry-on. Curiously I saw numerous other passengers boarding with 2 items none of which showed that they had paid for their "carry-on."

Worst airline service I have had. Their own flight delays forced me to miss connections (their own connections). I had to stay overnight at a hotel in FLL at my own cost. A group of 10-15 dissatisfied customers went up to the supervisor to ask for help or some coverage of hotel fees and he said there was nothing he could do. Staff at the gates in LGA and FLL and flight attendants were very unfriendly and some were even rude.

Flew to Vegas with my family (10 of us) it was my first time flying with Spirit I was always used to a 50 lb limit on our checked bag but with Spirit it was 40 so that was $50 bucks each way not including the $30 each way for the checked bag to begin with. $10 for each reserved seat so I could sit with my husband which I had to upgrade coming home to $18 a seat because on the way there we were so cramped our knees were literally touching the seat in front on us for 5.5 hours. I have never been so uncomfortable on a plane. Then when I asked for a water the flight attendant told me it was $3 and they do not accept cash. My tickets were roughly $650 after all the up charges it came to about $866. I will never fly this airline again.
