"absolutely the last time"

Had never flown Spirit. Purchased ticket through Orbits Ft Meyers Florida to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Spirit was our return flight. Found out when I tried to print boarding pass that there was a charge for carry on luggage. My Orbits confirmation said nothing about that so I went to the ticket desk at the airport. I was informed that yes it was applicable to everyone and if I had done it online it would have been only $25 each but since I did not it was $50 each at the ticket counter. This was the first time I have used this airline and I will say unless something is done about this $100 it will be absolutely the last time. Figured out with the number of people on the plane what was probably a $8000 nice up charge for Spirit. So much for resonable priced flights.

"non compassionate employees"

We've flown with Spirit Airlines before and understood the cramped cabins and extra fees for everything. What we didn't expect was the horrible attitude and non compassionate employees that this company apparently stands for (as well as its cheap prices). I fully understand delayed and cancelled flights, however when the gate passengers are told that the plane you've been waiting to board has landed and will be at the gate as soon as another delayed flight has pulled away, it is reasonable to assume you will eventually be reaching your destination with the carrier for whom you rolled the dice with. Spirit told us a plane would be at the gate and we would be boarding our flight to Ft Myers. They kept the entire gate there for 3 hours past its departure time only to tell us the flight was cancelled when it was nearly too late to book with another airline. I'm convinced they did this to try and force customers to rebook on there next flight to keep your money, even though they don't have enough flights to cover or the flights they offer are horribly out of the way (our flight was to Ft Myers, Fl - on a friday, they offered us a flight to Orlando 2 days later and told us to rent a car). I would've flown with them again had they tried to be accommodating and help find another flight with another airline - but the level of incompetence is shocking.

"find another airline"

I booked a flight with them for my child who was flying as an unaccompanied minor. Despite having a printed boarding pass in her hand, the incompetent counter rep had her wait in their check-in line for over 15 minutes. Due to the unnecessary delay she arrived at the gate 15 minutes prior to departure, but the gate was closed as the flight left 5 minutes early (with no warning). The Spirit Airline staff was unfriendly and unhelpful to a visibly terrified unaccompanied minor that they stranded in the busiest airport in the US. Luckily for my child some caring TSA officers and staff from American Airlines were able to help her. Not surprisingly their customer service was equally uncaring and incompetent when I called to voice my displeasure and request a refund. In short the bargain fares are simply not worth the price. The bottom line is if you care about your kids find another airline.

"eventually rescheduled"

Horrible experience flying Spirit from Fort Lauderdale FL to Atlanta, GA. I was booked for 9am departure from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta. I was at the airport at 7.30am with my boarding pass waiting to board and at 9am I was notified that the flight was delayed to 11am and then 12.30pm and at 1pm the flight was cancelled. Spirit staff were not very helpful in providing information to all other angry passengers. I was eventually rescheduled for a 4.15pm flight which got delayed to 5.30. I could write a 10 page of negative feedback about Spirit, but I will simply say "I will never fly Spirit Airlines again".

"a terrible experience"

My Spirit Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Oakland was delayed 4 hours. Instead of arriving at 9pm, picking up my car rental, and going about my night, we arrived at 1.15am right when the car rental place closed. I was forced to sleep on the cold tile floor of Oakland airport until the car rental place opened. The whole point of flying from Los Angeles to Oakland was to save time and enjoy more of the weekend. I would have been much better off driving. All Spirit did was say "sorry" and gave us a $7.00 meal voucher we couldn't even use. I understand things happen and flights get delayed, but it just messed up my trip and I had a terrible experience. At least now I know not to fly Spirit.

"decided not use Spirit again"

Spirit Airlines Detroit to Atlanta - baggage allowance is low and they dont even consider 1lb extra. Once through security the gate changed and once at the new gate I found a new departing time is 4:13pm (meant to be 2.40pm). Finally boarded at 5pm, but waited for 1hr uncomfortable on the plane. It took off at 6pm. Flight landed at ATL at 7:30 pm but there was no gate. We finally left the plane at 8:15pm and proceeded to claim my baggage which arrived at 8:40pm. I missed my connecting bus despite leaving a gap of 4 hours. I have decided not use Spirit Airlines again.

"only pay for what I need"

Why does everyone have to hate on Spirit Airlines? Yes the seats are small and they charge fees for almost all extras. But, they dont charge any hidden fees. The website is completely honest about them being no frills. To me this means I only pay for what I need. Also, when I booked my flight from Cleveland to Dallas Fort Worth it even listed on the website that my flight out of Cleveland was often delayed. Sure enough it was delayed by 50 minutes. I was sent emails to inform me of the delay. This was a nice touch. Also this flight was direct. This saved me 2 hours. The fare was almost $300 less than the closest fare and all of those had a layover. If you read the website and Pay for all bags ahead of time and sign up for email alerts and you are not a complete whiny baby who wants the everything for free, you will be happy with the service.

"haven't had any real issues"

Baltimore to Las Vegas. I have flown wth Spirit Airlines for years and although the tickets are very inexpensive, I haven't had any real issues with my travel. Only one time was my flight cancelled due to weather but they took care of us by offering us either a refund or tickets for the next flight. I always use Spirit. Yes the seats are close but I didn't mind. My flight wasn't that long.

"attendant was absolutely fantastic"

Cancun to Detroit with Spirit Airlines. Flight was delayed for an hour and a half. After boarding the plane, an accident caused a dent in the wing so we had to get back off of the plane. A different plane was designated as "ours" but we had a problem with getting a new flight crew. No information was given to us as we sat there hour after hour. No food was offered. We didn't know if it was okay to leave the area to even get food! Once on the plane, there was no ice! There was plenty of time to restock the plane. The main flight attendant was absolutely fantastic, but Spirit airlines failed us. The flight to Cancun was fine but with the prices of luggage and the lack of respect for their passengers, I have to rate them low.

"no savings here"

This was my first time booking a flight for my son with Spirit Airlines flying from Aguadilla P.R to Baltimore MD. When my son was checking in the baggage, which I had already prepaid for online, he had to pay an additional $25.00 again due to it being overweight. I was very disappointed. No savings here since only one baggage came up to $50.00, a convenience that nearly no major airlines charge for. Looks like I paid over $160.00 for what originally looked like $106 one way trip flight. In addition the flight from Aguadilla P.R to Fort Lauderdale (FL) was delayed an hour, this cause meant that my son missed the flight from Fort Lauderdale to Baltimore MD (BWI) that was supposed to arrive at Baltimore at 9.32 am. With this miss he had to stay at Fort Lauderdale airport for approx. 8 hours since the next flight for Baltimore was at 3.00 pm with an arrival time of 5.32 pm. This is unacceptable since they booked a flight with a 1-2 hour connection.
