"I would fly Spirit again"

(Canada)

Niagara Falls to Fort Lauderdale with Spirit Airlines, and the flights were on time - employees were all friendly. The cabin is too crowded and the seats were by far the most crammed uncomfortable seats I have ever experienced. However, for a family of 4 to fly direct to Fort Lauderdale over March Break for $720, I can suck it up for 3 hours of discomfort. I would fly Spirit again.

"won't have a flight out for a day"

(United States)

We've flown Spirit Airlines several times over the years, always with minor issues such as delays but never anything that made us think, we won't go back. Well, that's changed! First you just cancel a flight and herd us like cattle to inform us you won't have a flight out for us for a day (a major issue when hundreds of dollars of hotel rooms and a whole day of vacation lost), then you book my husband and myself on an outgoing flight a state away, but don't manage to book my mother. No apologies, the staff was rude at best. After we rented a car and drove to Ohio, we learned the same thing happened to a flight from Cleveland to Ft Myers, flight 967, stranding passengers for the day. Thanks for the vouchers we never received by the way, if you want a rocky start to travel, fly Spirit Airlines. Otherwise save yourself lost money in hotels, rental cars, and time - fly the better airlines. Spirit airlines flight 111 out of Detroit at 6:55 March 15, non existent!

"get what you pay for"

(United States)

Overall, I had a positive experience with Spirit Airlines flying from Baltimore to Fort Lauderdale. Prior to my flight, I read some horrible reviews and was not sure what to expect. The entire process went smoothly from check in to obtaining my luggage. This airline I would say, would be compatible for short flights. The baggage is slightly pricey. You basically get what you pay for. I packed my own snacks and drinks so I would not have to make any extra purchases but for those that can not go two hours without food and complained on other websites need to reconsider flights. The captain warned us when we would hit turbulence. Overall, good experience.

"nothing but good things to say"

(United States)

Minneapolis to Orlando. I selected Spirit Airlines for the cost and the fact that they had non-stop flights when I wanted to go/return. I studied up on their fees and booked on-line. I can honestly say that I was impressed and would recommend them to anyone. Know what they are, and there's nothing to be disappointed in. Both our flights this week boarded on time. We pre-paid for carry-on bags (had no checked luggage), we brought snacks, we pre-selected seats and we have nothing but good things to say about the staff and service.

"suitcase was dented and ripped"

(United States)

First time ever flying with Spirit and the last time. Flight to Fort Myers went fairly well as you get what you pay for- hardly anything. However, I had purchased a new suitcase in Sept and travel through Europe in Oct without a problem. One flight on Spirit and my suitcase was dented and ripped. It looked a mess. No Spirit rep in the baggage claim area so I contacted them by email. Even had date-stamped pictures of the bag. Too bad can only file a claim if done in person in the first 4 hours. Flight home was a nightmare with numerous flight delays and finally it was cancelled. Spirit managed to get us on a flight via Minneapolis. The flight made it to Chicago but we had to sit on the runway over an hour because no gate was open. Knew there was trouble when the crew started giving out free cups of water. Home 6 hours later than expected.

"as unprofessional as they get"

(United States)

Flew Spirit Airlines from Chicago, IL to Oakland, CA. I can manage the no frills aspect, but they are never on time and do not appear to care. I have flown them about 5 times and none of the flights have departed less than one hour late. This flight involved 145 people boarding the plane and, 2 minutes after the scheduled departure, announced that they decided to do a routine maintenance check that needs to be done every 3 days. Really, they could not have determined that before boarding everyone? No pre-scheduled maintenance times? They indicated it would take 20-25 minutes. An hour and a half later, with no announcement (and no air conditioning) in the interim, we departed. This airline is about as unprofessional as they get.

"pick anyone but Spirit"

(United States)

I travel frequently and used Spirit Airlines to fly from Fort Myers to Boston for the first time. Ignore how cheap the flight is. You get what you pay for then you keep paying. You pay extra for bags, carry ons, water, seats and they were short fates. The staff were not very friendly and anytime you have to call its a 45 min on hold time minimum before anyone answers the phone. In summary, pick anyone but Spirit.

"stranded at the gate for the night"

(United States)

The Ryanair of the United States. I would consider this airline again only if I absolutely needed to save $100 over a more respectable airline ticket and if substantial delays were of no concern. Each flight was delayed, the return flight even cancelled at the last possible moment leaving everyone stranded at the gate for the night at LAX. I was surprised at the discomfort in the cabin. If you are no taller than 5'7" and must turn over every penny on your trip this is the airline for you.

"could hardly move my legs"

(United States)

Will never fly Spirit Airlines again. Booked this trip as a package flying from Boston to Las Vegas, so not sure what kind of deal I had on the flight. Paid extra on check in for seats and carry on that cost $260.00. Choose $14.00 for extra leg room, which was tight especially on the return flight. I could hardly move my legs. I could hear customers in seats nearby complaining about this airline. The temperature in the cabin was also too warm. I guess that is an up charge also. Never again.

"read up on their rules"

(United States)

I knew what I was doing and read up on their rules. I avoided all extra charges except the few beers I bought (3 for 17 bucks). The seat didn't recline but it was already in a mid recline. I slept just fine and enjoyed my trip. I will fly them again and because of their low fare I will be able to afford more trips. All the reviews I read are clear that these people don't read their rules. My flight was also delayed by an hour going out there but these things happen. I was not upset and they were updating us as best as they could. I did notice more people got hit with the 100 bag fee on the return flight and I have a feeling it was because that flight was on time. The delayed flight I didn't see anyone get the fee and I was almost last to board.
