"front desk shut the door"
P Matthews (United States)
✅ Verified Review | I was at the gate two hours early for my flight from Denver to Las Vegas. The flight was delayed. Finally, we began boarding, and my travel companion didn't have her boarding ticket so we went 20 ft to see if it was in her chair. Meanwhile, the group we were traveling with were waiting for us right after the boarding area to get on the plane. At that time we were at the front desk to print a new boarding pass which was less than 1 minute total. The front desk shut the door, told us he could print a new boarding pass but it wouldn't be until 6pm on the next flight, and there would be a fee. I am a very frequent flyer and have never had the door shut while in line. It turned out that there was only 1 seat available to go to Las Vegas that night. The only other available seat was for the next day at 11am. I would have missed the wedding we were going to. I had bought these tickets January 12th, 2016 and the trip was April 13th, 2016. This was my first experience with Spirit and this is why I will never fly (or attempt to fly) Spirit ever again.

"we were pleasantly surprised"
Hershey Martin (United States)
This was my 1st time flying with Spirit Airlines and I had heard terrible things about them, quite frankly I was extremely nervous. My friend assured me that her experience was great with them so I decided to take a chance and see. My son and I booked our trip and we were pleasantly surprised with our flight from Dallas Fort Worth to Fort Myers, Florida. The flight crew were great and the customer service was excellent. The customer service in Fort Myers was excellent. We were supposed to check in 45 minutes early but were running late, not only did they allow us to go ahead and board but they did not charge us any additional fee's. We actually boarded at 5 minutes before take off. My friend's son has asthma and was not feeling good, the flight crew catered to him they kept bringing him refreshments at no charge.

"seats were extremely uncomfortable"
Marjorie Reynolds (Canada)
Flew Detroit to Orlando with Spirit Airlines. Found it extremely expensive as you had to pay for all your luggage including your carry on. Seats too close together, I am 5' 2" the seat in front of me was 2" off my knees. Would never ever fly Spirit again. The seats were extremely uncomfortable, in fact the seat I was sat in was all bent and twisted.

"not hesitate to use them again"
T Chester (United States)
✅ Verified Review | Dallas Ft Worth to La Guardia. Despite the many negative reviews, I had a great experience with Spirit on both legs of my trip. All of the employees from check in to the flight attendants were pleasant and cheerful. There were no hidden fees as many report. They have a simple, easy to navigate website that explains everything. Many people complain about leg room. I'm 5'11 and had several inches between my kneeson and the seat in front of me. Oh, and both flights left on time and arrived early. I would absolutely not hesitate to use them again!

"an absence of drama"
C Morton (United States)
✅ Verified Review | I chose Spirit on purpose based on price, efficiency, and skill for my recent travel from Las Vegas to Atlanta. Both legs of the journey with an absence of drama and professional, and I particularly enjoyed the friendly, efficient gate crew in Atlanta. I commend the crew from the cockpit to the cabin, and definitely enjoyed the nonstop option from my big seat!

"our first time and our last"
Diedre Schade-Faggan (United States)
This was our first time flying with Spirit Airlines from Myrtle Beach, SC to Chicago, IL. We will never fly again with them. We needed an emergency flight to go home for a funeral and Spirit was the only flight left. We see why now. We arrived at the airport early to park the car, go through security without being rushed. We ended up getting something to eat with 2 hours left before the plane boarded. We get an email shortly before departure saying it is delayed. This ended up being 2 hours delayed flying in to O'Hare. The plane itself was big but they are more concerned about how many seats they can fit, than your comfort. The seats do not recline, you are literally hip to hip with the person next to you. Drinks you have to pay for, nuts, water, soda. Everything on top of having to pay for your own carry-on which is $55. So the flight is cheaper but after everything you go through it comes out to the exact price of a better airline. This was our first time and our last.

"flights went without a hitch"
Stephanie Frye (United States)
First time flyer on Spirit Airlines and will not be our last. We flew round trip from Chicago to Los Angeles over Spring break and have nothing but positives to say about Spirit. I read reviews and was concerned but willing to take our chances with back up plans in place. I read their website so knew exactly what to expect. Everything was perfect for us. I booked with ease, selected seats for an additional charge which I was willing to pay and printed off boarding passes prior to arriving at airport. Checked the baggage requirements and packed accordingly. Our round trip flights went without a hitch. Both flights were on time even left a bit early, were smooth, captains were informative and landing was excellent. When we were waiting for our return flight numerous other airlines had delayed flights but all of Spirits flights were on time. We would and will use Spirit Airlines again. I recommend first time flyers read Spirit website so you know what to expect. By the way snacks at the airport are more expensive than snacks on board Spirit for the same size. Knew this as well.

"told our flight was cancelled"
S Callahan (United States)
✅ Verified Review | Traveling Spirit Airlines to Las Vegas was not bad. But today we were supposed to fly out at 8 back to New Orleans. We get to check in and we were told the flight was delayed. Then less than 5 minutes we were told our flight was cancelled. So we had to move to another line. Come to find out other passengers were going to Boston, Chicago were also canceled. We get to counter and they tell us lightning hit the plane. Ok, well how does that effect the other 2 planes? Well anyway they only offered refund or flight for next day. We opted for flight next day because with 3 people we couldn't afford another flight. Now I'm here with a 8 year old at a shady hotel. Nothing available due to the fight and GNR concert this weekend. Oh, all other flights were heading out.

"rebook next day or refund"
J Theeren (United States)
✅ Verified Review | Spirit Airlines canceled the Las Vegas to San Diego flight 1 hour before flight time. They claimed it was due to weather. However It was not windy, not raining, and there were few clouds. All other airlines delayed their flights but did not cancel them. Spirit Air offered only to rebook next day or refund the ticket. With a husband terminally ill in a hospital in San Diego I had no other choice but to go to Soutwest buy a very expensive last minute ticket and fly home. When I got to Southwest Airlines they explained that the reason for the delays was the Vice President had flown over our air space and the area had to be temporarily cleared for security. Once his flight had moved on all carriers were repositioned to fly. This is clearly not a weather issue and Spirit airlines should pay the ticket prices for their customers who had to go to other carriers.

"fly out 2 days later"
T Fuller (United States)
I am very disappointed with Spirit Airlines. I have read many people have struggled with the same problem as I experienced just today. My family and I were trying to fly home to Chicago from San Diego. We flew Frontier on the way here, but booked tickets with Spirit on the way back. When we got to the ticket counter, we were told our flight had just been canceled, yet no other flights to Chicago were canceled. We were offered a refund or to fly out 2 days later! We should have taken the refund and booked a flight with Delta and paid the upcharge. Instead, we rented a car again and got a cheap hotel, praying they don't come up with some excuse in 2 days to not fly us home. Lesson learned, will never fly with Spirit again. They were not willing to help with lodging or anything, even after calling customer service, which is a joke. I've had problems with them before, this was the last straw.
