"flight was over 4 hours late, no explanation"

Boston to Cleveland with Spirit Airlines. The weather was fine in Boston and Cleveland, so there is no reason for the flight to be delayed. I bought the ticket a month in advance so there should have been plans in place for the pilot, plane, and crew to be ready. The flight was over 4 hours late, and I was given no explanation as to why. This caused me to go over another day on my parking in Cleveland and to spend 4 hours sitting at the bar in the Boston airport. They offered me $50 off my next flight. I do not need a voucher for my next flight because I will never again be giving Spirit Airlines any of my money.

"2 times in a row delayed"

Ft Lauderdale to Boston with Spirit. Horrible - flight was delayed for 2 hours outbound and then delayed for 3 hours for the return - thats 2 times in a row we have been delayed - I will never fly on Spirit ever again

"great end to a fabulous vacation"

Myrtle Beach to Baltimore before taking this flight I had never heard of Spirit Airlines. But every time I told someone I had reservations with Spirit they rolled their eyes. It was a great flight. My girlfriend and her son were on board too. It was his first time flying and he loved it. On the way back one of the F/A's was particularly nice. It was a great end to a fabulous vacation.

"we received horrible service"

Flew Las Vegas to Philadelphia. The reason for my score is due to the lack of good service that was provided. From the minute we got to the Airport to get the boarding passes we received horrible service. The lady had an attitude and you could already sense that she had no urge to be there. Secondly, Spirit Airlines changed the gate number 3 times. They charge an arm and a leg for everything, I mean $3 for a tiny water bottle. Never will I fly Spirit again, I will definitely pay the extra $40-60 for American again or a better airline that actually knows how to provide quality customer service

"flight attendants were friendly and funny"

Verified Review | Flew Spirit Airlines from Boston to Dallas. I will admit I was very nervous to fly the airline with all the reviews I had read especially thinking I would be getting on their ugly yellow bus plane, but my family ended up on one of the white ones with blue tail. We did leave 2 hours late, but I did know that early in morning so we just didn't rush to airport and had time to eat before. The cons - uncomfortable seats that don't recline and very narrow aisle which is tough trying to get to the bathroom, no WiFi, no movies and no freebie snacks. The Pros - The smoothest flight I've been on in a long time. Good take off and landing. The flight attendants were friendly and funny. Would I be so lucky to have the same experience if I chose to fly them again? Not sure, but thought it was only fair to them to give them some good feedback that they deserve.

"get you for every little thing"

Boston to Denver and Spirit Airlines is the worst! They get you for every little thing and if you pay for something by accident that you didn't need to pay for, they don't offer any kind of refund. I paid for two carry on items online and it turned out they were small enough to be personnal items when we got to the airport, which is free. They wouldn't give any sort of refund, $90 down the drain.

"prize for worst flight experience"

Verified Review | I have been flying for over 35 years and this airline takes the prize for worst flight experience. It started with an email notifying us our flight was delayed. We were unable to print our boarding pass (which Spirit charges $10US if not printed and brought to airport) just given an Urgent notification to see a gate agent at scheduled flight time. We had to be at the Cartagena airport and through customs at the scheduled flight time even though our flight was delayed more than 2 hours. Do not expect to get any help from customer service unless you speak fluent Korean. The gate help isn't any better as they are understaffed and follow a script they will not go off. Missing our return non-stop flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Denver resulted in our return being delayed a day, and routed: Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta, Atlanta to LA, LA to Denver. We were given no options even though there were other flights (even on Spirit) available. They did give us a hotel voucher however they gave out more vouchers than rooms available. The flight attendants are pleasant. Food and drink prices are reasonable. So, if all you are concerned about is price, time is not a problem, and you don't mind long lines at airports, Spirit is marginal in these areas. I, however like direct flights, keeping on schedule, and a customer service that you can carry on a conversation in English.

Verified Review | I completely understand the negative reviews of Spirit but, if you want to save money, actually understand the rules, and are willing to deal with tight seating, mediocre customer service, and a spotty on-time record, Spirit might work for you. Anything other than a personal item will cost you extra. This is very clearly explained when you're booking. Deal with it. Seating is tight and not particularly comfortable. This is also explained during booking. Deal with it. If you need overhead space, pay to board early or take your chances. This isn't rocket science. Aside from potentially saving some serious cash, the biggest perk on Spirit is the credit card application deal they offer on some flights. Fill out a credit card app in-flight and you get a 2,500 mile voucher for free. That's good for a free one-way flight. It's not for everyone, but if you play your cards right, Spirit can definitely work out for you.

"flight was cancelled"

My Friday night flight was cancelled and they said the next flight would be on Monday. I had a rental car, hotel and a show booked already in Vegas. When I told this to the person on the counter he found me a flight departing the next morning at 7.50 am and arriving at 11.30 pm, 3 flights and two connections. I came back to the airport at 6.30 the next morning. To try my chance I asked if there was a direct flight today, they said yes at 7 pm tonight. How come last night they said there was no flight until next Monday? They even said that there was another flight during the day but it was already fully booked. I spent those 12 hours on the phone changing my hotels, car and show tickets. We were lucky to fly Saturday evening with an hour delay. Flight experience was terrible too, they even charge you for water. Flight crew made jokes but none of them were funny after all the drama since Friday.

"should have known better"

Verified Review | I should have known better than to fly Spirit Airlines again. Last time the flight was delayed, baggage fees were high and the seats were very uncomfortable and crowded. Saving money was the goal, but in the end this airline is not passing on savings to its customers. Prices look cheap but adding baggage fees and any other little courtesy they charge you for makes the flight the same price as other airlines that don't pack people in like Sardines. Today's flight from Los Angeles to Dallas Fort Worth was delayed and after being ushered through a strange ancillary security line that barely moved, having nowhere to sit at the gate because of all of the other poor souls with delayed flights so I paid for an overpriced breakfast at a restaurant for comfort. Never again. The bad service throughout the entire process is like salt in the wound from realizing I'm not paying any less for a poor experience.
