SAS Scandinavian customer review

CPH-MUC. Flight delayed very little information given to PAX. Onboard no real distinction between business and economy. Not even a curtain any more. Never told what the food was but it looked like fowl. Could have been chicken or turkey. Trays not placed on the table but just handed out to PAX. Food still plastic wrapped when served. Impossible to get a Tuborg beer. Told that the beer sold most widely in Denmark had now been replaced with a discount brand. Seats same as in economy but with middle seat free. No entertainment - the monitors apparently did not work. We were never told but given a manual safety demo by disinterested cabin staff.

CPH-OSL and OSL-CPH-AAR. Three short flights within Scandinavia as usual a good experience. Travelled on a last-minute youth ticket which is a great booking option for students. All flights arrived on time on the last leg to Aarhus (25 minute flight) they somehow managed to catch up the 10 minute departure delay. Nice with a cup of coffee/tea and free newspapers. SAS is reliable.

I have been flying with SAS a lot in the past 2 years. Mostly over the Atlantic ocean from Europe to USA. A lot of the flights have been ok with no or no mentionable delays but quality with SAS is going down. This last flight we did not get any warm meal served just a cold lunch. The flight time was nearly 8 hours so I was very disappointed. The aircraft's are also getting a bit old with some parts (like the seat cushions) falling off. Entertainment on board has been going down recently also with the system not always working. SAS needs to update its image and concentrate on serving passengers better.

Excellent flight between Tokyo and Copenhagen (SK984). Check-in quick and friendly. On time arrival and departure. Sat in economy and received excellent service. Staff very professional not overly friendly. They know their job and make you feel taken care of. Good legroom clean bathrooms and many good films/music in the entertainment menu. My only complaint is the serving of free meals which is small bread rolls felt nothing but fresh. Two small meals is not much to rave about for an 11 hour flight. It is possible to buy snacks during the flight but during my flight they only had chocolate and chips not the best alternative if hungry. Will travel with SAS again which has a feel of an airline that knows how to deliver even if meals are small.

EWR to CPH/HAM return. Flights left and arrived on time. Seat comfort in Economy is limited (fine for short persons) due to limited seat pitch but when the adjacent seat is empty flight is bearable. Service on board is inattentive and at best mediocre. Warning: SAS allegedly offers upgrades through Optiontown (which charges a "service fee" plus money up front for the possible upgrade). I tried to get such upgrades on the transatlantic part of the flights but did not get it although there were empty seats in Economy extra and Business.

DUB to ARN return. Way there was on time plane was clean and in a good state. Crew however were not very friendly no full drink service available and no free food so don't think it's value for money (paid full service fare) same service on way back. On return plane was on time at ARN airport and landed 15 mins early.

HAM-CPH in economy class. Duration: 35 minutes seat 11C in a CRJ900. Usual excellent facilities for check-in and security in Hamburg. The flight was short and take off was on time landing 15 minutes ahead of schedule. The cabin attendants were dour-faced and unhappy looking and the service was quite poor. If you weren't in business or 'premium economy' you didn't get a full drinks service. I was given 100ml of orange juice in the tiniest drinks container I have ever seen on an airline. It can't be due to time constraints because handing out 100ml or 330ml makes no different to service speed in my opinion. Aside from the rubbish service the aircraft was clean and in a generally good state of repair. I would recommend this flight only because it is a fast and convenient way of getting to Copenhagen. If you want service and proper-sized drinks - take the train.

Two flew from Washington DC to Copenhagen and Stockholm in August-Sept 2012. We got a great price for business seats well worth it. The food and service were terrific (you must know that my airline of comparison is United.) So much better than US carriers it is unbelievable. We had good in flight entertainment. The seats do lay flat and are much better than coach anywhere but they are not as flat as I would have liked to make this flight perfect. The lavatories were very clean for the entire trip. I would definitely fly SAS business again anytime.

Boarded Flight SK943 at 15.10 in Copenhagen. Departure time was 15.40. We were kept in the hot crowded airplane with children crying for over 4 hours at the gate. The plane did not move and we were not allowed to leave the plane. There were only brief explanations that there were mechanical difficulties. The passengers were wondering why we were not allowed to get off the plane and wait in the boarding gate area until the plane was checked and ready to leave. I thought if there were delay problems like this that people should be allowed to get off the plane after 2 hours and then re-board. We finally left at 20.00. When we arrived in Chicago still no further explanations were given no apologies for the delay or thank you for flying with SAS. I was very disappointed. I have flown on SAS a number of times and never had this type of service.

Flew SAS Heathrow to Oslo and Oslo to Tromso. Friendly crew fast check-in endless teas and coffees free newspapers on the international leg; a nice touch was the crew laying blankets over sleeping passengers. No free food though so cannot be compared with a proper full fare airline like BA.
