SFO-CPH-OSL-CPH. Found the flights to be pleasant and the service was warm and efficient as well. The food on the transatlantic was good but unremarkable however the snack boxes distributed between CPH and OSL were extremely tasty and had a variety of foods. I was very surprised by the presentation and quality on such a short flight and found the whole catering plan to be excellent.

Another horrible trip with SAS from Bergen to Copenhagen flight was cancelled got the message the day before had booked tickets in late afternoon/ evening to get a full day of work. The new flight was in early morning. The plane back arrived late about 1 hour and as always with SAS the luggage was missing. Have to fly SAS to Greece the last 4 years on every flight they loose the luggage 3 times a year out of 3 possible times. No entertainment no free drinks or food. You can not buy real food either. Horrible old planes like the MD-80.

FCO-OSL Econ Extra/Premium Econ (late booking thus very expensive tickets). Efficient check-in and on time departure from Rome. No perks at FCO for Y-class. Almost full flight cramped seating (3F) on old 737. Norwegian newspapers offered. Food - a cold meal in a cardboard box - nearly inedible. Warm bread rolls ok. Declined offer of liqueur with second round of coffee but nice touch. Friendly but slightly untidy cabin crew. Forward lavatory smelt.

Milan-Copenhagen. I am a frequent flyer on this route and honestly I have seen some improvements lately in SAS. Milan Malpensa-CPH Friday evening flight around 75% load factor A320 with the new Recaro slim seats SAS will be installing on the new aircraft's on order - great ones - more room for your legs. The best cabin crew I have had on a SAS flight: professional smiling (the biggest improvement maybe) delicate. Same applies on the way back Copenhagen-Milan Linate Sunday late evening flight. Flew on a new A319 100% load factor. Unfortunately no Recaro seats here yet but very good cabin crew 2 young ladies an older one and a steward. Inflight entertainment not existent. One black note: water coffee tea are still free of charge on all SAS European flights in Economy but its quite sad to see that you are asked to pay an extra for sparkling water.

Copenhagen to Oslo Monday 27th May. Original flight cancelled (the 16.10) and I was rebooked to the next flight 1 hour later (17.10). No reason given nor any apology/we are sorry to inform you that your flight is cancelled. Flight that I was rebooked to was delayed due to the pilot allowing a single passenger to be more than 20 minutes late at take off. Cabin Staff were indifferent to passengers having electronic devices on during take-off/landing - overall cabin staff seemed more interested in getting the flight over with rather than servicing customers. Several customers could not make connecting flights at Oslo this information given by cabin staff during in- flight however again no apology was given no information as to why the delay was caused.

IAD-CPH-IAD A340. I'd eaten dinner before the evening flight which was good because the meal was inedible. The morning meal and return lunch were average. I get that I'm not going to get much room in an economy seat but the cushions were so hard that I couldn't get comfortable enough to get any sleep. Seatback entertainment system was old and pretty bare bones with scratched up screens. Cameras in the nose are cool though. FAs were average no kudos but no complaints.

ZRH-CPH on A319 super cramped seating and I'm not even tall. Seats are aircraft shows age and are filthy in my opinion. Crew ranging from cheerful to arrogant. Good thing is the complimentary coffee/tea. As a national carrier it's not impressive but they get you from A to B.

ARN-HEL-ARN-LHR. First leg was on Braathens Aviation (ex-Golden Air) ATR. SAS confusingly had two flights leaving almost exactly at the same time and as expected the ATR departed and arrived later than the Blue1-operated flight which was scheduled just 20 minutes after. No BOB of any kind but free drinks and cheerful FAs made the experience better than the SAS-average. HEL-ARN was operated by Blue1 on the B717. Early departure and arrival surprising; surprising also the generally good service. One FA on ARN-LHR was clearly having a bad day and wanted to take it out on the passengers while the purser maintained good service. On-time as well. Can't beat SAS prices.

I fly SAS probably once a month or more. On the positive side the seats are comfortable and the legroom is more than ample. Food is OK for an airline; not as good as KLM or Air Canada but better than a US airline. Beer and wine is complimentary and they have an after-dinner liqeur if you wish. It's Star Alliance so you know at least you will be able to use the points - and SAS Is very good about awarding their points in a timely manner. It's true that the planes are past their prime. (They still use MD's on some Euro-routes!) On the negative side if you have ever experienced the culture or people in Scanadanavian countries it is written all over this Scanadanavian airline. Their flight attendants have a very low quality of service delivery. It's not that they are rude but the culture is not service-oriented. In general it's a typical legacy carrier - not exceptional like a Lufthansa or Singapore.
