"Boeing 787 an uncomfortable plane"

(United Kingdom)

We flew from Manchester to Doha on an A330, and it was comfortable and service good. The next plane from Doha to Denpasar was a Boeing 787 and what an uncomfortable plane this was. You could not move when the person in front of you reclined their seat. The menu for breakfast was hot fish and rice or pancakes. We were only sat three rows from where they started service but by the time they got to us there was only fish and rice left. I explained that my wife does not eat fish but was told that's all, so she ate nothing. We had the same flights back and only fish and rice left. The other meal we had was cold, and when we mentioned this to the crew member they said they would reheat.

"great flight with Qatar Airways"

(South Africa)

A great flight with Qatar Airways from Cape Town to Istanbul via Doha. Business Class service on the ground and onboard is truly excellent. We love the Boeing 787 which flies from CPT to Doha. Excellent layout, very comfortable (full lie flat seats). Food and entertainment also superb. The Boeing 777 from Doha to Istanbul also good, but not quite as spacious as the Boeing 787.

"suggest to anyone to fly them"

(United Kingdom)

Edinburgh to Perth via Doha return with Qatar Airways. No airline comes close to the high customer service levels of Qatar. The Boeing 787 seat is really good and the food is amazing. Love the Boeing 777 but not the same as the 787 which is a lot more modern and quieter. Always fly Qatar and would suggest to anyone to fly them and join privilege club frequent flyer program, as got an upgrade to business for the flights for having enough qmiles.

"service was wonderful"

(South Africa)

Cape Town to Manchester via Doha with Qatar Airways, and excellent as always. Easy transfer at Doha and great boarding process. Their Boeing 787 is an excellent plane, the Boeing 777 less comfortable. Service from crew was wonderful. Special help was given to family on first flight with young son with autism. Qatar Airways have good fares too.

"fly Qatar Airways again"

(United Kingdom)

Tokyo Narita to Stockholm via Doha. At Narita, Qatar Airways ground service is operated by partner Japan Airlines, quick and efficient for check in and luggage. Lounge is comfortable and quiet but food offer is rather poor as often in Japan. Long walk to the gate but we had been warned it would take 10 minutes. Easy boarding, on a Boeing 777, nice welcome by a crew member who showed us to our seats. Same comfort and lie flat bed as on the outward flight. I chose more international food, it was a light dinner due to late departure (10pm), nothing fantastic but good and nice presentation, all dishes brought to your seat, no trolley up and down the aisle. I watched two films. Could sleep well and had ordered a light breakfast which was served 90 mins before landing. Arriving at Doha at 4am, access by jetway but long way to walk, time to walk to the lounge, hardly anybody there, it was 0430 - went upstaors to restaurant which starts at 5am. Could get some tea at once then chose the buffet which I found more attractive than a la carte menu. I had a nice full breakfast out of a large choice of western and oriental style products. Then a shower, no waiting, though lounge was getting more crowded with several flights arriving. 4hr layover went as a breeze, with waiting time in a quiet and comfortable place, with good wifi connection and power socket to charge iphone and ipad. I got boarding information by SMS than on the airport screen so started to move to gate on time as it was very far, 15 minutes walk including moving sidewalks to get there. Boarding by bus, one reserved to business class passengers. Same welcome on board Boeing 787. Crew took orders for meal - chose an arabic breakfast as it was 9am and some extra things such as french pastries. I don't drink alcool and did not watch IFE except the flight route. Twice crew asked if I wanted extra drinks or food. Landing at Stockholm, some walk thru immigration to reach luggage delivery, our cases arrived on belt less than 5 minutes after we had been there. Both flights, as both outbound flights were exactly on time. I was a bit worried with the luggage after reading some comments, but this service deserves full marks - except lounge of airline partners in NRT and ARN. I certainly fly Qatar Airways again.

"great company and great value"

(France)

First experience on Qatar Airways, flying from Stockholm to Tokyo via Doha. I usually fly Air France but got bored with low quality and tried QR because of special business class offer for flights from Europe. Only negative point was lounge in Stockholm that is small, not that comfortable with very basic food offer. All the rest was great. A brand new Boeing 787 from Stockholm to Doha, day flight, lovely food, nice crew. Arrived in Doha around 5pm, bus transfer, special bus for business, transfer to terminal building took just a few minutes. Doha Airport is huge and we missed direction to the lounge but very helpful staff to show the way. The lounge in Doha was comfortable with large offer for food either downstairs or at restaurant upstairs, lounge was busy, we had 8 hours layover but we found a comfortable place to sit, and rest with excellent wifi connection. Could have a shower without having to wait, nice dinner in restaurant before boarding for Tokyo NRT around 1am. Boeing 777 from DOH to NRT, not so sophisticated seat than on Boeing 787 but somehow more roomy and very comfortable. Both flights with full flat bed. Food on board second flight was great, possible to order anything from the menu anytime. I just had a light treat after take off and chose the Japanese meal before arriving in Tokyo, great Japanese Kaiseki food. Gangway to reach the terminal, some walk , no waiting at immigration, and luggage arrived 5 minutes after we had reached the delivery hall. We could be in the Narita express to Tokyo 45 minutes. I won't comment wines and alcohol either onboard or at the lounge as I do not drink any, and no comment on IFE as I prefer to read or sleep, but their flight info and maps are very sophisticated and I left it on all the way thru. Great company and great value for price.

"great service, quality food"

(Australia)

Qatar Airways from Melbourne to Barcelona via Doha, returning from Madrid to Melbourne via Doha. Almost impossible to fault this airline, the first time (and certainly not the last) we had flown with them. Attractive, tidy, clean aircraft. On time departures and arrivals. Exceptionally comfortable seats/beds, all of the accoutrements, great service, quality food and wine.

"the seat pockets are tiny"

(United Kingdom)

Most airlines have had seat-back pockets capable of stowing a reading book and a case for my glasses, but on this A380 the seat pockets are tiny. I'm 5'10" tall but could not reach the air vents. The flight passed reasonably well until meal time. I was treated to their cooked breakfast on the sector from Doha to London. It might almost have been palatable (ignoring the dreaded chicken sausage), were it not for the fact that I had had that same breakfast on the flight from Bangkok to Doha. They offer snacks on their flights, in this case a Mars bar and crisps, which I found greasy. I was offered a choice of sandwiches : lamb or chicken, but instead found heated pastry parcels containing minced who-knows-what.

"the most pleasant flights"

(United Kingdom)

I recently traveled four long haul flights (London to Bangkok return via Doha) with Qatar Airways, and despite the fact I was both severely lacking sleep and rather hungover on each occasion, I found that each flight was was up there with some of the most pleasant flights I have had the pleasure to be on. I usually fly Business and or First class but on this occasion I had decided to travel to Thailand at extremely short notice (roughly 3 hours), so therefore my business partner accidentally booked tickets in economy. Which is not usually my preference when taking a flight. Yet I could not find fault with the level of service I received on each flight and in particular the flight QR9 from Doha to London, was simply exceptional. I cannot thank the cabin crew of Qatar Airways enough for making what could have easily been a set of nightmare journeys for myself. In the end, amazing. If you are considering booking with Qatar Airways and find yourself somewhat hesitant due to having read some of the bad reviews, I would ask you to consider the fact that when It comes to reviews of anything you can be almost certain that they tend to be completely polarised viewpoints. And as such you should treat them with a pinch of salt. Go with an open mind, you'll probably find your flight just fine. Or allow yourself to enjoy it despite little problems and you might, like me feel the need to write a review because it was such a great experience.

"very difficult to criticise"

(United Kingdom)

Edinburgh to Perth via Doha with Qatar Airways, very difficult to criticise any aspect of this journey. The Boeing 787 seats to Doha were excellent and the cabin crew could not have been better. The crew was also excellent on the leg to Perth, although we did not find the seats on the Boeing 777 quite as good, as this was an older airplane.
