Flew business class MEL-CNS 9.30am departure was late due to change of wind. A last minute arrival of a family in business class = parents not seated together so I moved to allow the couple to sit together opposite their two children. I suspect last minute upgrades or Qantas family on standby. The 737-800 was the next gen so very new with very good ambience and good quality entertainment however very poor meal service bread no salad - main was fruit salad or two eggs with chorizo and spinach. Despite a lunch service and 1.30pm arrival wine not offered but I think you could request it. I feel that if I was paying $1000 for the ticket I would feel upset but I was using points to upgrade and so was the passenger seated next to me but he paid double my costs as a last minute booking.

Flew SYD to LHR return in economy and I noticed the little extra no longer exist with Qantas in economy. The food on both legs was tasty however the serving size small. The wine was nice and drinkable and no complaints when I asked for refills. Whatever happened to the hot towels? Whilst Qantas still advertise a basic amenities kit on both flights these were not offered. I found the staff service was friendly and efficient. As a gold FF member I put in for points upgrade and was lucky to get short DXB to LHR leg on outbound flight but would seem very hard now to get an upgrade on this flight. The possibility of the upgrade is why I choose Qantas over Singapore Airlines. Return flight home was delayed by 3 hours with an SMS notification which was later updated to inform the flight was on time only to turn up to the airport for and find out the flight was delayed so a 6 hour wait at Heathrow. The flight was only half full so I extra space made the seating more comfortable than it would have if packed in. All in all adequate but there is a reason why flight is half full hard to maintain the brand loyalty when other airline products are similar priced and better.

Flew from Dallas to Sydney on June 14 with a brief stopover in Brisbane. I have nothing but high commendations to the crew and the staff. The service was top notch and nothing was too much to ask for. We had seats 70j and 70k and I am 6 foot and I could fully extend my legs and lock them under without hit my kneecaps on the seat in front. There was plenty of food and snacks. What made the impression was how understanding they were and even if the could not do it they would still try. We immediately went sightseeing because we were so well rested.

QF9 outbound MEL-LHR on 3 June and QF2 inbound LHR to SYD on 13 June both with stops in DXB. Most of my mainline trips to London Dubai Singapore and HK are on Qantas craft. Despite all the criticism I have to say that Qantas on the mainline routes have upped their game. Excellent service from FA's. Meals can be a little inconsistent but have generally found this when the catering is resourced from London in particular. As a comparison my wife travelled out earlier on Emirates also on their A380 service. Same metal but more cramped and an inconsistent level of service from the FA's. No real negatives on either of QF2/9 save the usual gripe about the wait to disembark the A380 which applies to all.

QF2 Heathrow via Dubai to Sydney. Paid a lot for an exit seat but not worth it as on the aisle near the hatch which the crew use to go to their rest station my feet were continually bumped as they queue up to enter the light just in side the door was annoying and the door banged every time so forget any rest. Surprised at the poor quality of food curry or lamb stew on Dubai leg the curry AGAIN or macaroni cheese on Sydney leg. Breakfast was a muffin so arrived in Dubai hungry had to buy breakfast from pain quotidien which was best meal on the trip! Crew were very ordinary. All in all not as good a flight as Thai gave us on same trip 3 months ago. So unless my return flight is much better will use another airline in future.

Canberra-Melbourne return. Although only 45 minutes in the air my ticket for the outbound leg said that dinner would be served. So I was surprised to get a tiny very cold chicken and lettuce sandwich. And that was it. You know what it's fine to not serve a meal on a 45 minute flight but don't say that you will. The crew were terrible. They were miserable rude and surly - with the exception of the cabin manager who was trying hard to make up for the rest of the crew. A passenger in front of me asked for some ice with his drink. The attendant called (yelled) to another attendant in the galley for ice who yelled back down the aisle that there was none. She then made an excuse that no ice is loaded on such short flights. After the fuss died down a miraculous cup of ice was delivered to the man by the cabin manager. Return flight got shifted to an exit row as I was boarding - a nice surprise. Crew were a bit nicer this time but still not great. Short TV show on overhead screens. Planes were clean and well maintained.

Flew Darwin to Perth on 737-800 with winglets. No problem scoring exit row seats and with a hot meal served (which was very nice and a decent serve) plus complimentary beer and wine cannot really complain. I have taken this flight many times and service is always very good and catering better than other flights. Still love the cheese and crackers and ice-cream later on. After Feb flights to Sydney/Melbourne with appalling catering this was a nice return to the Qantas I like and the reason I fly them.

Sydney - Dubai return - A380 - seat 13A. Lounge facilities in Sydney were comfortable and offered an acceptable selection of snacks and drinks. Boarding was efficient. Seating comfortable meals were of good proportion and quality was excellent. Wine selection and quality good. IFE selection was varied and up to date. The addition of the mattress to the seat makes a huge difference and the PJs add to the comfort of sleeping. Service was friendly and relaxed. I think this is the hallmark of flying Qantas. Overall a good product that made for an enjoyable flight.

MEL-SIN on an A330. As a long time QFF I was a little disappointed with many aspects of this flight. Our flight was delayed 2 hours due to 'faulty cockpit part' which had to be flown down from Brisbane. My partner and I travelled in Economy - the seats were dated with little leg room. The entertainment system was old tired and responded poorly to commands from the remote. The food was reasonable with a tasty side salad and a good offering of drinks and wine. Cabin crew were friendly and helpful. The flight was three quarters full so we were able to spread out during meal times. We arrived late but gladly at one of the best airports in the world - Changi. On international routes (aside from its flagship MEL/SYD-DBX-LHR) Qantas compares poorly with competitive modern and innovative Middle Eastern and Asian airlines. I suspect most Australians who fly Qantas do so for the QFF points - which day by day diminish in value and are harder to earn. Particularly on a route to Singapore the options for better cheaper and more modern travel are best serviced by Emirates or Singapore Airlines. Offering the more popular Premium Economy options is one way. More modern aircraft (think: Dreamliners and A380s) and a more diverse menu offering are other helpful ideas. Time to up your game Qantas!

I took Flight QF82 from Singapore to Sydney. The departure time was at 2020 but the flight only departed at around 2100. The personal television was ok and selection of movies was ok. They served dinner and the food was pretty good. The customer service was great as if you just went to the gallery during the flight they would be more than happy to help you. The overall experience was very good.
