"the worst customer service"

(United States)

Not Verified |  They kept us on the airplane while they tried to figure out the errors codes for maintenance issues, including turning on and off the entire plane! After hours on the plane, they kicked us off. 1.5 hour more hours in line trying to get it figured out, They offered me a flight to my destination 6 days later. As if a flight 6 days later was a reasonable delay! When I finally spoke to the gate agent, he laughed at us. Left my son and I stranded without any vouchers, or flights. We are now forced to pay a hotel for the night, and $2000 in flights to get home. They won't even let me lodge a complaint or request for reimbursement for 48 hours. They refuse to talk on the phone, it has to be lodged online. This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I will be pursuing this further.

"The crew were absolutely amazing"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | We had a delayed flight, we were in the air and hit a bird so we had to land back in Toronto. The flight attendants had to deal with a) not getting paid, b) some disrespectful passengers and some people not listening. The crew were absolutely amazing and so sweet. They truly were amazing. My family and I will never fly with anyone else. Porter for sure is the only airline I will take from now on.

“they stole our money”

(United States)

Not Verified | We paid hundreds of dollars extra for our seat because I had cast on my leg. So they put us in the Exit seats due to plane are full. Once we are on the plane they came to us and moved me because I cannot sit next to exit seat with broken leg, then moved my wife because she does not speak english then moved my son because he is 11 years old. So we end up each sitting in a no space seat far away from each others. On top of that they gave our seat to a lady with her 13 year old son. I have a video of that, they put me in Aisle seat so my leg did not fit under regular seat so it was in the aisle which got stepped on a few times by flight attendants and by passengers. The story short when we got home we asked them for refund that we paid for the extra space. We were denied explaining that they took us from point A to point B regardless what we pair and they refused any further explanation from us. I recommend if you go on this airline go sit in first class and if they say anything tell them their priority is to take you from point A to B regardless what you paid for. Bottom line they stole our money.

"no communication about anything"

(Canada)

Not Verified | If you enjoy being stranded at an airport then Porter is for you! I just had the pleasure of being the guest of the Toronto Pearson Airport last night! No brag but I spent 7 luxurious hours there - me and 27 other people that were turned away from the gate for our connecting flight. It was kinda fun - there we were with 20 min to spare to make our connection and then a lady got on the PA system to say “if you are going to Montreal you better run otherwise the plane is gonna leave without you”. You know. I’m always up for a good scavenger hunt but you don’t know the joy it can be until you have gone through the corn maze of Pearson! The manager physically blocked us from going to the gate - we witnessed people boarding. Not only were we offered nothing but there was no communication about anything. Like nothing, no email text, app update, forget a human being at the counter or on the phone, they were all on their comfortable beds for the night. Fun adventure right! So yeah. Just another airline doing what airlines do. No huge surprise, I didn’t want to be relaxed or enjoy my plans or have a good time on my vacation anyway.

"disability services was awful"

(United States)

Not Verified | While the flight itself was good. The disability services to get our flights was awful. My sister and i both requested ADA service due to our individual disabilities needs however kept getting only one wheelchair due to a lack of staff. We had long wait times for any wheelchair service even though they knew we both needed the service. Some of Their workers complains about the lack of direction of who to serve. At our connection flight in Toronto again there was only one wheelchair. My sister is visually impaired and I am physically impaired ! I was forced to walk along side of her wheelchair with my baggage to our gate. I was physically exhausted.

“frustrating and deeply disappointing ordeal”

(Canada)

Not Verified | I never actually got to fly with Porter Airlines—and perhaps their very short line-up at the check-in should have been my first red flag. With high hopes of exploring a new airline, I decided to try Porter for the first time, stepping away from my usual choice, WestJet, known for its phenomenal customer service. However, my journey with Porter never left the ground, quite literally, thanks to an encounter that turned into a frustrating and deeply disappointing ordeal. Porter Airlines, often praised for its upscale feel, was supposed to offer a smooth, comfortable travel experience. I had prepared in advance, booking my flight, checking in online, and paying for my luggage—all to save time at the airport. Yet, upon arriving at check-in with two bags and a carry-on, I was met with unexpected obstacles that quickly snowballed. When I discovered one of my bags was slightly over the 23kg limit, I was ready to pay the extra fee. However, the check-in agent suggested I rearrange my luggage instead, as the extra weight charge was "too expensive" at $105. Following her advice, I moved a few items, getting both bags within the acceptable range. This should have been the end of the story, but it was just the beginning of my troubles. Two other check-in agents then intervened, speaking to me in a condescending tone and escalating the situation unnecessarily. "You don’t seem to understand," one of them snapped, without any provocation. Shocked by their rudeness, I tried to maintain calm, suggesting we restart the conversation respectfully. However, when I politely asked for their names, I was told, "We don’t give out names. It’s our policy." Things spiraled further when I decided to document the interaction by taking a photo. The supervisor, now irate, declared, "You’re not flying with us today because you took a picture." I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My attempt to address the issue in a reasonable manner was met with threats and hostility, and they even called security on me. The 2 security staff who arrived showed more empathy than the airline agents, but by then it was too late. The damage was done. I had been told I wouldn’t be allowed to fly, and to make matters worse, I was pressured to delete the photos I had taken—photos that were simply my attempt to document a frustrating and unprofessional situation. What started as a simple baggage weight discrepancy had escalated into a power trip, and the lady saying I am the supervisor confidently stating, "Let’s see what you’ll do." The final insult came when Porter’s customer service marked my flight as a "no show," despite the fact that I had been at the airport the entire time trying to resolve the issue. As a mental health advocate, I am keenly aware of how toxic experiences like this can affect one’s well-being. I was left feeling disrespected, and emotionally drained by the lack of professionalism and basic human decency shown by the Porter Airlines staff. Ultimately, I never got to board my flight. The experience was enough to make me swear off Porter Airlines for good. While they may have a reputation for providing a premium in-flight experience, their customer service on the ground was nothing short of appalling. If you're considering flying with Porter, beware. Sometimes the allure of trying something new leads to unexpected disappointment. My advice? Stick with an airline where respect and professionalism are the standard, not the exception. For me, that’s WestJet.

"I never actually got to fly"

Not Verified | I never actually got to fly. The check in staff at YVR were inefficient and uninterested when a problem arose. They were generally unhelpful and dismissive and I would never recommend.

"gets the recognition she deserves"

(Canada)

Not Verified | I booked a flight from Nigeria to Edmonton through Qatar airways and we were supposed to board 3 airplanes of which Qatar airways were to fulfill 2 while porter air was to fulfill Montreal to Edmonton. On getting to Montreal, trying to connect with the final flight we discovered that Porter Airlines wasn't aware of our booking. There was a problem that they couldn't explain. A woman named Valerie or Valeria (pardon me) went out of her ways, did her utmost best, fought tooth and nails, ran up and down here and there to resolve the issue for us. She was able to resolve this issue despite all odds and still went ahead to lead us till we got to our allocated seats cos the boarding time was almost over at the time the issue was resolved. Finally, our check in luggage couldn't go with that flight cos of the limited time, Valerie/Valeria still ensured these luggage got to Edmonton by the time we landed. I wish she gets the recognition she deserves for her hardwork, selflessness, kindness and love for her job and humanity. Thank you Valerie

"10 minutes before the baggage cutoff"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | Booked a flight with them. i paid the money to get my boarding pass emailed to me, which i never did get. They have a cutoff of 45 minutes before your flight to check your baggage. I got there 55 minutes before my flight. The terminals are right next to Flair airlines. I went to the only baggage claim terminal that was open and it ended up being the lineup for Flairs baggage. There was nobody at Porters baggage terminal when I got there 55 minutes before my flight, I had 10 minutes before the baggage cutoff and they were already gone, they left early. Now I'm out 5 days of prepaid hotel, an $867dollar plane ticket, a $225 Judas Priest concert ticket, and about $500 in prepaid activities that I had setup in Montréal. Why have a cutoff if your not going to follow it and leave early.

"untrustworthy airline"

(Canada)

Trip Verified | I had a flight from Toronto to New York that was abruptly cancelled three hours before our flight, and we lost one day of our trip. They rebooked us for the next day with a connecting flight. The layover time was 6 hours, which was then delayed to 9 hours. We lost two days. I honestly don't recommend this airline to anyone, as it has proven time and time again that it has no qualms about cancelling and delaying flights by hours and even days. The baggage itself was even late to arrive. We are not even the only flight that was delayed or cancelled. While waiting, we heard announcement after announcement about other Porter flights no longer being available or being moved. We spoke with other passengers, who also confirmed that the same thing had happened to them. This is an extremely untrustworthy airline, and to use it is to risk losing a lot of pre-spent money.
