“Impossible to contact customer service”

✅ Trip Verified | Horrible. And not just because my direct flight was cancelled and rescheduled to a connecting flight. But because I was not informed, and randomly find out the day before as I was trying to check in online. So I was going to miss my booked bus journey and one night of hotel already paid for. Not an email or anything. Nobody letting me know. Impossible to contact the customer service too. When I went to the airport to talk to someone another traveller was desperately arguing with them. They should be banned to run an airline. Disgrace.

“This is ridiculous”

✅ Trip Verified | I was on group tour of Java, Bali and Komodo. Lion Air left my entire tour group's luggage at the Juanda airport, didn't put it on our flight and then refused to deliver it until the next day. We had a cruise booked at 7:45 am. My tour company had to rent a boat to deliver the luggage. This is ridiculous. Lion Air doesn't give a damn about tourists and they need to go out of business. Do not use them if you have to check luggage. International travelers should avoid Lion Air at all costs because they will ruin your vacation.

✅ Trip Verified | We booked 6 different domestic flights to/from and in Sulawesi with Lion Air as there were no real alternatives. What I was afraid for having read reviews here already happened 2 days before departure of our first flight as I got a message our initially booked first flight was cancelled and we were rebooked on a later flight. From the 6 flights booked 4 were cancelled and we got rebooked. Luckily, I managed to arrange my pickup at the Makassar and Ternate airports where we already arranged travel. Our flights from Makassar to Palopo and back were the only ones that remained as booked. Palopo flights on an ATR-72 (twin-turboprop) had Wings Air (owned by Lion Air) flight numbers. All other flights were on 737's. Service on board of the flights was non-existent but at least the flights were smooth and left on time as per the new schedule. Also, baggage reclaim went smooth but this of course shouldn’t be an issue as all airports were quite small. The positive note is staff at the airports were nice and friendly and always did their best to assign us seats with more legroom which was much appreciated.

"worst airline I have ever flown"

✅ Trip Verified | This is the worst airline I have ever flown. I had booked two tickets on a direct more expensive flight a couple of months before the departure date. 10 days before the flight, they canceled my original flight and rebooked us on a flight that was scheduled for almost 8 hours earlier. It departed 30 minutes after we got into Jakarta, making in impossible to catch seeing how we had to go through immigration, collect our bags, and get 3 miles away to another terminal. After a week of me emailing them daily, they finally rebooked us to a non direct flight that was in the middle of night, so we lost $125 for our non-refundable hotel room we had booked. 13 hours before departurethey canceled that flight and rebooked us automatically on the same flight I had already told them we couldn't make. I try to contact them within 10 minutes of receiving the cancelation email and go on to send them 5 emails which they never answer on the day of our flight. Luckily, my husband somehow manages to get in touch with someone on WhatsApp after waiting for over two hours for a chat response and we are then rebooked on an even worse flight, with a layover (9 hours instead of the 3-hour direct one), that is much cheaper than the original we booked, not to mention the $125 we lost for our non-refundable hotel room because of flight cancellations. The second leg of the flight we were rebooked on is now 4 hours delayed and it is entirely unclear why when the plane is right outside and your staff has offered no apology or explanation, no refund, no nothing.

"Worst airline there is"

✅ Trip Verified | Worst airline there is. No matter where you go with them in indonesia, rules are always different. One time 15 kg, the other 20 kg, which makes you pay every time. Obviously 15 kg for a check in luggage is not enough at all. Always late, cancelled or problems with the airplane. Ridiculous company really We did take it a few times in indonesia (booked in advance) and it was horrific Nearly missed a connection flight because they are late! We took 6 flights and no 1 was on time My knees touch the seat in front of me, not a bit, it is pressed against it, the most uncomfortable airplane. No water or anything is provided on the flight, if it is 1 2 or 3 hours, you do not even get 1 sip of water. The air hostess do absolutely nothing the entire flight, they sit around on their phones. They work 10 minutes before take off and 10 minutes after landing.

"I don't suggest taking Lion Air"

✅ Trip Verified | Booked a few Lion Air flights in the past and most have always been delayed ‘due to operational reasons’. After a few years of banning Lion Air for my own sanity, I tried giving it another chance especially as the price is much cheaper than other airlines. Lo and behold, it’s delayed again - initially delayed for 30 mins, informed that it’s delayed for another 30 mins, and as I typed this I’m in another 30 mins delay (no further hopefully but if there is any further, I’m not surprised). Unless you’re really tight on budget and really have all the time in the world, or perhaps you like to gamble, I don't suggest taking Lion Air.

✅ Trip Verified | Every single flight in the past 2 weeks had some sort of issue. Flight #1 KUL-SUB - last moment rescheduled 2.5 hours later, departed 1hr late. Total delay 3.5hrs. Flight #2 SUB-UPG - departed 1hr late. Flight #3 UPG-AMQ cancelled. rebooked to earlier flight Flight #4 AMQ-SXK last moment rescheduled to 2 hours later - aborted landing, ok touchdown on second attempt. Flight #5 KNG-SOQ departed on schedule, aborted landing, ok touchdown on second attempt. Flight #6 SOQ-UPG cancelled, rebooked to flight next day In summary: 6 out of 6 booked flights had some issue. 1 extra overnight required in Sorong (Lion Air not providing a hotel)

✅ Trip Verified | Much better than expected. After reading bad reviews I was very apprehensive. My flights - 3 in total, 1st 20 min late, 2nd 30 min late, 3rd 60 min late. I was fine with this, it really wasn’t too bad. I received my luggage fine (I did make sure v secure after reading all probs with stolen items). Thanks Lion air, you were better than the reviews.

Not Verified | Worst airline. Flight was canceled. No answer to my mail, WA or live chat after 20h. So far no new flight scheduled!!! What is wrong with lion air? No customer service number available to call. Unbelievable.
