"Crew was outstanding"

Trip Verified | What a great trip. Crew was outstanding, very attentive and seemed to be genuinely happy to have us aboard. The new style seats work great! Sleep was some of the best I have had on long hauls. Food was excellent. As we flew out of LAX I was surprised the food seemed to be authentic Finnish and not from the kitchens in Los Angeles. We had a very tight connection in HEL going on to OSO and had no trouble getting through the airport on onward to Oslo. Cost of flight was very competitive. We will certainty fly them again and next time we will stay a few days in HEL to see the city!

Trip Verified | Rather nice flight even though it is longer now because of closure of Russian airspace. Food was good but the presentation could be somewhat better. Don’t like the post-covid “one-tray-service “ The crew was attentive and friendly.

"saying we are out of time to make a claim"

Trip Verified | We flew to London from Hong Kong via Helsinki with Finnair in Dec 2022. Upon our return (same route), Finnair checked in one of our carry on baggage and when we retrieved the baggage in Hong Kong, the handle was broken and we have been unable to use the bag since. We immediately filed a damage baggage report (the day after we landed) and Finnair decided to not do anything about it until I recently messaged their customer service team on why there was no update on our report. Finnair has denied responsibility in: 1. Accepting that they broke our luggage 2. Acknowledging that they made us wait over 6 months to get a response. That too, only because we started to contact their customer service!! Finnair are now saying we are out of time to make a claim for damaged baggage. This is incredibly shocking customer service for an airline that has factually broken our luggage and now refusing to take any responsibility for it. My advice is to avoid Finn Air at all costs necessary, particularly if you value your luggage and the money you spend on buying luggage. If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would.

"seats are narrow and cramped"

Trip Verified | First and last time flying ever on Finnair. This is a low cost carrier with premium prices. Expect to pay for absolutely everything starting from luggage on long haul flights, food, beverages and seat selection. Portions of meals they’re serving are minimal, will not sustain you on an 11 hour flight. The IFE crashes a lot. The seats are narrow and cramped.

"hand luggage item was 2kg too heavy"

Not Verified | Never have I experienced a customer service like with Finnair. We upgraded to premium economy on the way back. Unfortunately 1 of the hand luggage items was 2kg too heavy. Finnair forced us to check it in at an extra cost of 120 euro. A 2.5% upsell by a very uncooperative desk lady has now cost you a customer. Never again. We flew business class on the way in. Food is the worst business class food. In premium economy the equipment Was not working.

"horrible customer service"

Trip Verified | Absolutely horrible customer service. Paid $260USD several months ago for "exit row" extra legroom" seat both directions (booked directly with Finnair). I have receipts and actually had confirmed assigned seats (that I paid for) up until just minutes before the flight. Then all of a sudden they changed my seating to a regular seat (not even extra legroom) as I was boarding and didn't provide an explanation. They just said to apply for a refund on their website and that they could no longer accommodate my seating request as the "system" automatically adjusts and reassigns seats prior to boarding. Well, I filled out all the refund forms on their website, waited a few days, and received a one-sentence reply telling me "seat extras are not refundable" (which is ridiculous because they charged me for something and didn't deliver the product they sold). On top of that my exit row seat on the return flight in two weeks has "disappeared" without reason as well. I will have to resort to a chargeback on my credit card and fly this horrible airline back home to Dallas in a regular seat (to be assigned at check-in). They simply do not care, and I hope other experienced travelers heed my advice. I'm also a OneWorld Ruby member, which means absolutely nothing to this airline but puts this review in perspective that I fly a lot. Please FLY A DIFFERENT AIRLINE IF YOU CAN.

Trip Verified | Discount airline with premium pricing, new baggage rules give a touch of EasyJet. A bit dirty and worn planes and not very friendly service. Would choose something else if they did not have a monopoly on flights to Finland.

"Very friendly purser"

Trip Verified | Flight slightly delayed but arrival almost on time. Good legroom in the first row of European style Biz class with empty middle seat. Very friendly purser who also acknowledged my frequent flyer status. The catering was okay considering that it’s only a 45 minutes flight, love especially the Iittala glassware. Wifi didn’t work but not a big deal.

"visibly dirty plane"

Not Verified | A short leg on Finnair's Embraer after LOT's business class. The experience made me sad: visibly dirty plane, (obviously) the same seating as in couch, food like from school cafeteria. The flight attendant was friendly.
