"The worst experience"

Not Verified | Denver to Dallas Ft Worth. The worst experience of my life. The staff is rude , there is no desire to ensure that you get home quickly, and they nickel and dime you more than Spirit. I was on a standby flight which I still paid 100 bucks for and because I was D3, literally anyone who is D1 or D2 can cut in front of you at any time. I got to the airport for a 5am flight at 2:30am, and was bumped off the next 7 flights. I had to take a vacation day from work because I couldn’t get back in time. There was no communication and they couldn’t ensure that I get back because “that’s just the standby game.” Well, if I am still a paying customer, and if I’ve been sitting here for 14 hours then I should be treated as such. After the 5th missed flight, I finally folded and bought a ticket myself ($65) so I could get home. Since I bought this ticket the morning of, I was on boarding group 9. This means that you’re only allowed one personal item which was never conveyed to me. Even though my bag was carry-on size, I had to pay $50 for them to check my bag as I was boarding because I was in group 9 and that’s not allowed apparently, and they were out of room in the overhead storage bins since THEY oversold the flight. None of which, by the way was my fault. Use another airline.

"Awful service and attitudes"

Not Verified | Mexico to Boston via Phoenix. The worst flight ever. They separated all of us on the flight including my kids. On our return flight we had a connection in Phoenix to go to Boston but we had to go through customs and collect our bags because we came from Mexico. The baggage belt broke and delayed us getting our bags. My husband stayed behind to get the bags and ran to the gate. I told the flight attendants and they shut the door in his face. The flight was for 3:30 and they shut the door at 3:25. 6 people missed their flights that day. Awful service and bad attitudes.

"Flight delayed 7 hours"

Trip Verified | Flew American Airlines from San Jose to Phoenix. Flight was delayed 7 hours and all I got was a $12 dinner voucher, enough for a snack, not a dinner. On the other flight the pilots were over 30 mins late.

"nothing more than necessary"

Trip Verified | Dallas to Hong Kong. Seated in Main Cabin Extra. Plenty of leg room to endure the 15 hour + journey in both directions. Only 2 options for dinner (cod and pork). Former was surprisingly flavorful and tasty. Mid flight snack was stromboli and salted caramel gelato. Breakfast eggs/hash browns. Typical airline food. Nothing out of the extra-ordinary. Service was nothing more than necessary. Flight attendants appear to be more concerned about getting service over with. Entertainment choices were plentiful. I have flown long haul with Emirates and American Airlines' service pales compared to the former.

"they fail to inform you"

Trip Verified | The ticket was issued by American Airlines and one leg was flown by Alaska Airlines. American does not provide a boarding pass to the Alaska Airlines flight. Moreover, when I called them and also when checking in, American Airlines indicated that I will get the boarding pass at the gate. Wrong! I discovered that after I missed my connecting flight because I had to go to the ticketing area of Alaska Airlines to get the boarding pass and not at the gate as I was told by 3 American Airlines representatives! American Airlines will issue a ticket flying with Alaska Airlines but they fail to inform you that they are completely separate flights and for checking in luggage I also had to pay Alaska Airlines. American Airlines promised to refund the $25 but they denied my claim, stating that I should read the small print on their website and not believe the words of the American airlines representative and supervisor!

"Multiple mechanical delays"

Trip Verified | Burlington to Omaha via Philadelphia. Multiple mechanical delays are way too frequent! Delayed now by 2 hours. No plan announced as yet. Ridiculous. We boarded and sat on tarmac for an hour. Then back to gate. Now in terminal again. Get your act together! I don’t believe we are getting our money’s worth at all.

"frustrated and disappointed"

Trip Verified | San Diego to Dallas. So disappointed with this airline. There was a 5 hour delay, with no announcement no email no nothing. They just have us sitting out here blinking. Flight was supposed to be super early morning and yet we are still here hours and hours later. We had to Google the flight ourselves to find out why we were not leaving as scheduled. No one said anything. Customer service phone number was not helpful either. Very frustrated and disappointed with the lack of communication, not to mention how those screws up my work plans for tomorrow!!

"service is getting worse"

Trip Verified | Philadelphia to Miami. In the last 2 years more and more frequently the service is getting worse. Today we are waiting on board more than hours for catering. Wait more than a 1 day and American airlines canceled the trip. We almost lost the trip to Aruba. Preview I traveled to Cuba and they offered a Voucher for 2000 whoever is canceling the trip The service is getting worse and worse No respectful at all.

"Horrible service"

Not Verified | Flew American Airlines from Dallas to San Diego. Got a 2hr delay and on top of that had us in the heat. They turned the AC on for about 15 min then turned it down. They were fixing a brake on a wing, shouldn’t they be checking this prior to departure. Horrible service.

"plane time was changed"

Trip Verified | I had a connecting flight from Los Angeles to Portland after arriving from Fiji. My plane time was changed from 2:35pm to 9:30pm. When I asked at the counter, I was told that the travel agent should have informed me. I know it was a lie because this is the second time they used the same excuse. Travel agent was not aware of it at all. Am making sure that I am never traveling with American Airlines again.
