"Do not fly this airline"

Trip Verified | Minneapolis to Philadelphia. Do not fly this airline! When booking it may seem cheaper but they nickel and dime you for every little thing which cost you more in the long run. My son had a bicycle that could only fit in an oversized bag. When we went to check in they charged us $150 extra because there was a bike inside the bag. Not reading word for word the baggage policy, as most passengers don't, we were unaware bikes were not allowed unless in a box. The manager and the baggage check in person accused us of Fraud and stealing from the airline. We explained it was not stealing No fraud because we were unaware of of the policy. Nonetheless they both continued harassing us and would not make any accommodations even though my wife is a frequent business flyer on their airline. They charged us $150 extra. Never flying this Airline again.

"not getting what I am paying for"

Trip Verified | Delayed in Roanoke 2 hours trying to get to Charlotte. Last month I missed my connecting flight as a result of a delayed flight. I will be seeing another airline next time even if I have to get on four planes to get where I am going. I am not getting what I am paying for.

"ruined our entire vacation"

Trip Verified | Miami to Tampa. bWorst experience of my life flying ever! I fly a ton for work and I have never ever been treated so poorly. My husband and I have the American Airlines card and have access to their lounge which we pay $400 for annually. The treatment from the staff of the Miami airport tonight is outrageous. We will be canceling and never flying with them again. I understand delays are out of their control but we sat on and unconditioned plane for an hour just to then sit at the airport with literally no update on our constantly delayed flight for hours. To say I’m outraged and disappointed is a major understatement. This has ruined our entire vacation. I can’t believe I’m even paying for this flight they call service. Please, never fly American. I know we won’t be ever again.

"most horrid experiences"

Trip Verified | I’ve had the most horrid experiences with American. I’ve been delayed both flights to North Carolina from Washington and back by at least an hour. I was supposed to get in tonight at 845 and catch my bus to Bellingham from Seattle but they delayed the fight at the last minute didn’t bother to say anything and I had to pay for another full bus ticket to get home. Coming up I was delayed an hour as well. I think mainly their boarding protocols and strict baggage guidelines and I don’t read the times points to there bad satisfaction for me. Planes are nice though but that’s about it. Of all the airlines I’ve flown American has the most delays beyond anything I’ve seen and do not want to travel with them again.

"unorganized and unprofessional"

Trip Verified | Miami to Laguardia. My flight was scheduled for 8:32pm. When we get on the plane, we were told shortly after that there was going to be a delay, which was understandable due to the weather in NY. Soon later, they made everyone get off of the plane because it was too hot on the plane and the air conditioner wasn’t effective, and they ran out of drinking water. We get off of the plane and wait for an update. No accurate update was given. We were simply told that the weather was bad and that now our Captain can’t fky because he’s over his time. They called several more captains and it was too late for them all to fly. They finally found a captain that Can fly. We get back in the plane, which was crammed. We waited almost an hour. I asked the flight attendant what was going on and what time we were taking off. She said she did not know. I asked for water because it was very hot and was told they ran out still. So we were going to be on a 3 hour flight with no water. Soon later, we all get texts that our flight was cancelled. We asked the flight attendant and they had no information. Finally we were told by the captian that it was cancelled. It was past 12am at this point. It took forever for them to re-in-board the plane. We finally get off and get directed to the reservation area by an AA employee by the name of Ana.Short Spanish looking lady.With no patience, she very rudely screams at us while swinging her finger in our face, to get in a single file line and “don’t even think about cutting”.It’s not like she made that comment before and people ignored her. She has an attitude right away.I was very annoyed because we have been on and off that plane several times for hours and have also waited a very long time, just for the flight to be cancelled at 12 in the morning.Then take a shuttle to an airport at 2 in the morning with a rescheduled flight at 8am. Lost out on an entire day of pay because of this airline. I would have been less upset if the staff wasn’t so rude and if they acted like they cared that we were bounced around for hours. Everything was unorganized and unprofessional.

"Clean your luggage compartments"

Not Verified | Flew from Albuquerque to Miami with a layover in Dallas. Attendants refused to assist with check in demanding the Kiosk be used. Refueling delays in Dallas. Luggage arrived slightly damaged, but filthy. Clean your luggage compartments!

"wait 1.5 hours for bags"

Trip Verified | Las Vegas to Miami. Today they made passengers from the Vegas red eye into Miami, wait 1.5 hours for bags at 5am. When I complain at the counter the clerk told me that nothing could be done and the supervisor was in a call and would not pay attention to this service to the passengers. There was no storm. Clerks at the bag counters were beyond careless. Shame on you American Airlines for treating passengers like this.

"Gate agent was rude"

Trip Verified | Philadelphia to Charlotte. Traveling with an infant and family. Called and paid an additional 25.00 per head to ensure we got seating assignments together since we had an infant. Agent assured us seats were together. Got to airport, no seat assignment, and was informed there was nothing they could do. Gate agent was rude and a great representation of the Company and how they treat their customers.

"Overall a good flight"

Trip Verified | Flying with my wife from MIA to Orlando International, after spending the night in Miami arriving from Madrid. Check in - bag drop went ok. Staff at check in was polite enough. TSA also went smoothly. Flight was quite short - about 55 minutes, so on economy there was a choice between orange juice and water. Got water but was not spring water so I did not consume it. Cabin staff was polite, seats were comfortable and appearance of the cabin was tidy. Nevertheless, cannot award full marks because of the airline's baggage policy, boarding procudure (zones - appears that whatever seat we are seating and zone assigned we board last!), uniforms of some members of staff - some look rather worn for many many years. Overall a good flight.

" I was highly disappointed"

Trip Verified | Norfolk to St Louis. I had the most unpleasant experience on your airline July 4th weekend. I arrived at Norfolk International Airport shortly after 10am for a flight that was going to St Louis, Missouri. The flight was delayed due to weather conditions in Charlotte; which I completely understood. However, after waiting at the airport for about 5 hours, we finally boarded the plane. We sat on the plane for 3 hours before we left to head to Charlotte. By the time we made it to Charlotte I had missed my flight and was put on a different one. Minutes before getting ready to board the plane they tell us the flight is cancelled. There was one more plane going to St Louis, and they only had a few seats available on it and it was first come first serve. I was put on a waitlist because the seats were full. Luckily, I was able to get on. After waiting around for about 10 hours with a million delays and a cancelled flight, it was beyond stressful. Worst experience ever. It didn’t help that the people at the airports weren’t very friendly at all. I was highly disappointed with the experience. I was supposed to arrive in St. Louis at 3pm and didn’t arrive until midnight.
