✅ Trip Verified | Terrible customer service rebooking and flight cancellation policy’s are a joke. Was cheaper to rebook than to change a flight with more than two weeks notice. Customer service representatives have all been very unprofessional to talk to and will not be booking with American Airlines again.

"Absolutely awful"

✅ Trip Verified | Miami to San Francisco. Absolutely awful! How is this airline still in business? I can't even believe how awful they are and expensive too. My flight was delayed 11 hours and there was no apology!! Just a deal with it attitude! No vouchers, no excuses, no apologies!! On top of that, a 5 hour flight offering a cold Turkey croissant for almost 10 dollars! Only choice! Plus a bad movie, their choice. Hated it! Never again!

"My expectations were low"

✅ Trip Verified | Milan to Miami. I flew the dreaded Basic Economy, and it was okay! I knew what I was getting into - no checked bag, no seat selection, boarding last - so there were no surprises. My expectations were low, and AA exceeded them generally. AA will not give you a boarding pass for flight segments until you arrive at that airport which is moderately annoying, but that was the only issue for me. There was plenty of overhead bin space on the international segments for my bag. I had a middle seat CLT-FCO but had an aisle seat MPX-MIA. Food was decent as was the on-board service. IFE gets low marks because there was no AVOD at all on the nearly 10 hour flight MXP-MIA. Apparently the 767-300 refurbs have not gone that far per a flight attendant. Also, in Economy there are no power ports; so your devices will quickly run out of juice. Bring an old-school paper book! In general the Basic Economy experience was not that bad, and I would do it again anytime I do not need to check a bag.

✅ Trip Verified | Dallas to Grand Island. Every flight on my vacation was delayed. Customer service was completely disrespectful. How am I supposed to be a satisfied customer when nothing goes the right way, this is not the first time this has happened, but it is now the last time it will ever happen. Delay after delay. They have no excuses. All staff are lazy and works at there own pace. People have lives and families outside the chaos of airports, we have made commitments to get from 1 place to the next, and this airline wants nothing more but to take our money. This is so pitiful. I am so angry and have had 2 anxiety attacks because I had no where to go when things canceled. I am a patriotic American. And it pushes me off that the company American Airlines cannot uphold what we are as a country.

"just keeps getting worse and worse"

Not Verified | American just keeps getting worse and worse. I've flown American for the past 2 years on business. They used to have 2 classes of tickets, now they have 3. If you buy the old economy ticket you could upgrade to say and Emergency Exit row 1 hour before the flight. Now, with basic economy you can not. So, if the plane is half empty and you prefer to move, you can not, unless you pay an additional $60! Are you kidding? This after becoming a platinum member! Rude gate agents, horrible service, delayed flights, and horrible seats has driven me to fly another airline. Southwest is first on the list. Bye-Bye American! Don't waste your time with this un-American airline!

✅ Trip Verified | Flew American Airlines from Miami to New York City. Boarded the plane knowing full well we were delayed 2 hours. The pilot waited until everyone was seated to announce it. And to put salt in the wound, no service of any kind. Didn't see an attendant anywhere. Shameful and last time any of my family flies on this trap.

✅ Trip Verified | Dallas to Santa Ana. Warning - do not travel economy in this airline. This means you will overpay, I ended up paying $ 500.00 for a flight I have made in JetBlue numerous times at a price of $97-$140. It guaranties that you will be seated in the last row and in the middle. Even when the plane is empty and they give others better seats free you will not be moved unless you pay extra. If you dare to request to be given another seat they reply “you are group 9 economy.” When I requested an explanation they just said you don’t get to change your seat. Someone booked this flight for me. Do not make this mistake.

✅ Trip Verified | Had a 4 hour layover in Charlotte trying to get to Chattanooga. There was a flight leaving to Chattanooga in 30 minutes and the attendant verified there were 3 unsold seats on board. I was initially informed I could pay $75 to switch to the sooner flight no problem, but when my boarding pass was actually scanned the attendant flatly said I could not get on the earlier flight for any amount of extra cost. This was baffling and stressful, I am mainly upset because no explanation was given as to why I could not board the sooner flight. Sitting here for 4 hours when I know there are empty seats on the sooner flight. Thx AA

✅ Trip Verified | New Orleans to Los Angeles. My flight was delayed 3 hours due to the unavailability of a flight crew. While waiting at the gate to board, the pilot announced that we did not have a flight crew available in New Orleans and that we would have to wait 3 hours for a crew to be flown in from Dallas. American offered no compensation for this major inconvenience. I wrote several letters but American just sent a form letter saying how sorry they were!! I am frequent flyer with AA and was offered no additional compensation - not even some extra miles.

Not Verified | We flew from Puerto Vallarta to Sacramento, with connected flight in Phoenix. We booked 2.5 hours available in Phoenix because we have to go through customs immigration (since flying from mexico). Our Flight from MX was scheduled 5:50pm and 1 hour delayed, we now have to fly at 6:57pm, meanwhile it's 7:25 pm we all seated on the plane and it still didn't move. Because of that we will have maximum 40 min between connected flights. My husband asked staff if possible to let us and others who are in same situation as us deplane earlier, all he got was a rude remark from her. Also after she made sarcastic comment without realizing that I was walking behind him. I'm pregnant, we travel with child and parents, at least I would expect some understanding and respect from crew, instead we got smacked in the face. I will continue review when we arrive to Phoenix.
