"a nightmare trip"

Trip Verified | Dallas to St Louis. What a nightmare trip on American Airlines. We have had problems on every flight this trip. We have had every flight delayed or cancelled and have had to spend an additional two days in hotels and we are still not home. The way they handled the changes we're ridiculous. I have never flown on AA before and recommend that no one else does either.

"was the rudest encounter"

Not Verified | Hartford to Chicago. Extremely upset with the service of American Airlines. I went up to the woman at the desk and ask nicely if it was possible to make my next flight with only 30 minutes. She then asked me “and who booked this flight” I said myself. She then replied “now there’s the problem that’s your fault you saw the time when you booked it.” I then said “please you don’t need to be rude I’m just trying to understand if I’m actually going to make it so I know if I should stay with the flight.” She then answered the phone and stopped talking to me. I’ve been in customer service for a while and that was the rudest encounter especially with the holidays.

"American Airlines is horrible"

Not Verified | Los Angeles to Dallas Ft Worth. We visited LA for Christmas. We were scheduled to fly back to Dallas 12/26/18 at 7:45. I was to check in online for that flight and received our boarding passes through email. After we returned our rental car, I then received a text message that our flight back to Dallas has been cancelled. We headed to the airport and out flight was rebooked for later that night 10:30pm LA to Reno then to Dallas. My husband had to miss work. We had to ride the bus going to our assigned gate, as soom as we arrived at the gate I received another text message that Reno to Dallas flight has been cancelled. We approached the staff and they told us to go back to ticketing counter to get our flights rebooked as there is nompoint for us flying to Reno if our final flight to Dallas is cancelled. We stood in line for quite sometime to get our flights rebooked. So our flight got rebooked again to depart evening the following day. We asked if a hotel will be provided, they said no hotel because it is cancelled due to weather. We had to pay extra for our hotel. We also had 1 checked baggage and we were told to go to baggage claim area to get it. When we got there they told us they can’t locate our bag, that it might be being loaded going to Reno. Staff advised us to come back at 5:30am and said since our flight from Reno to Dallas has been cancelled they will send the bag back to LA. All our clothes and toiletries are in out checked baggage. We came back the following day and another staff said it would be a miracle if out bag will be sent back to LA, when she checked the status it said that it is headed to Dallas from Reno. Now we are here at airport, our flight back to Dallas is supposed to depart at 5:59pm 12/27/18. Few minutes after we arrived on the assigned gate, I received a text that our flight is delayed amd will be departing at 7:50pm! The delay Is not about the weather this time. American Airlines is horrible! Won’t be flying with this airline ever again!

"Good riddance American Airlines"

Trip Verified | Tulsa to LaGuardia via Dallas. We will never ever fly this airline again. They left us stranded days before hurricane Irma hit the florida Keys, canceled our flight back from Austin Tx and we had to drive the last leg from Dallas airport, have made us late several times on business and pleasure waiting on a pilot to show up or maintenance. Now, they have ruined our wedding which is planned in NYC because of they cancelled our hours before for maintenance and then they changed their mind and said weather related. They were nice enough to book us a flight 2 days later! though! We have friends leaving the same airport which is Tulsa with different airlines and neither of them were cancelled nor delayed! My fiance wanted to try and stick with American since they headquarter in our local city (Tulsa), She finally said never again! We will cancel our American Airline credit card as well since we will no longer need their frequent flyer miles. Good riddance American Airlines.

"Never flying American again"

Not Verified | Indianapolis to Cancun via Philadelphia. I flew American airlines out of Indianapolis we were the first flight out of the Airport 5:15 a.m. We boarded our plane and the pilot informed us the Co- pilot was nowhere to be found and they could not reach him. They eventually found a replacement we flew to Philadelphia we landed 10 minutes before our connection flight took off. We ran through the airport only to have the door closed in our face, plane still attached to the jetway. Along with 20 other people who were on the First flight with us. So the group of us marched to customer service to try to catch the next flight which none of us did. We were all rerouted onto multiple other flights. We were rerouted to Dallas ( this flight they also boarded the entire plane they took everyone off because they forgot to do a security check even know the plane had been sitting there for 30 hours and no one though to do that before it was suppose to fly. ) People missed cruises. My wife and I missed an entire day of our honeymoon by the time we got moved around and reached Cancun it was midnight. All because a pilot didn't show up and they couldn't hold a plane for 10 minutes to allow 20 plus people to make the flight. To top it off the airline tried to cover its ass by claiming it was a mechanical malfunction when we talked to customer service deposited the gate agent , captain and flight attendants saying the co pilot didn't show up. Never flying American Airlines again.

"seemed angry with customers"

Not Verified | Corpus Christi to Baltimore. Flight canceled just hours before takeoff with only reschedule possible 2 days later to a different airport. Missed reunion, although made reservations 60 days in advance. Much anger. American staff also seemed angry with customers. I don't envy them.

"never fly American Airlines again"

Not Verified | We arrive at the Tallahassee airport just for them to tell us our flight is delayed due to the crew. That delay was 2 hours. We then received another 2.5 hour delay after our first delay, due to plane problems. We finally board our plane at 12:07 am when we were suppose to board at 8:15 pm. Get to our destination at 2 am and they provide us with a hotel for 1 hour, so we couldn’t sleep or rest. We’re back up at 430 am to catch the bus only to find out our 7:15 am flight was canceled and that they could not get us on another flight till 2 days later. They would not give us a hotel, food, or compensation for loss of wages. I have been up for about 32 hours now and I continue to get mistreated and disrespected by these people. It’s unacceptable and I will never fly American Airlines again and I suggest that no one else does as well. Also, Andrea that works for the front desk in Charlotte, NC LITERALLY yelled at me and then stormed off. The customer service is actually worse than the airline it self.

"I am appalled at this experience"

Trip Verified | San Antonio to Dallas. I have been sitting on a plane for 8 hours and it should have been an hour and a half flight. We sat at our gate for about four hours before we even took off for our flight and now that we have arrived at our destination from San Antonio to Dallas, we have been sitting here for 3 hours. I was originally scheduled to leave at 7.50pm front SAT, and around 5.30 I received a call informing me my flight had been cancelled and that I was going to be on a new flight departing at 6.27. I was 30 minutes from the airport so I rushed, incredibly fast, to find my flight had been cancelled not only once more, but three more times. Now, finally after boarding and waiting four hours to take off due to adding 360 miles to the trip, having to fuel up with 2,000 more pounds of fuel and maintenance problems, here we sit. With no word for almost exactly 3 hours. I had to call DFW to find out why exactly there were no gates available. No food, no water until orange juice was offered at about 2 and a half hours in. I am appalled at this experience. And they ran out of food because the flight before us was supposed to be a 50 minute flight but turned out to be 4 hours.

"I am extremely disappointed"

Not Verified | San Francisco to Columbia . I arrived Christmas Eve at 11: 45 p.m. to Columbia. My bag did not arrive. I received a text from American Airlines that my bag was on a later flight. I was advised to contact the airline to arrange free delivery, and when I called, I was routed to a voice mail. Now, when I call American airlines to locate my bag, I am told I will have to pay for them to deliver the bag to my address since I did not contact them within the 4 hour window, which would have been Christmas morning midnight until 4 am. I am extremely disappointed in this policy. I am being charged for a mistake made by the airlines.
