"they wouldn't let me switch"

Trip Verified | Memphis to Philadelphia. I was able to get on an earlier flight because I made it to the airport on time. Except they wouldn't let me switch because I wasn't economy. It's mother's day and now I'll miss the first mother's day with my wife after having our first child. Thanks American Airlines.

"do not recommend this airline"

Trip Verified | Phoenix to Sacramento. I do not recommend this airline. If you like unhappy and unhelpful crew, then this is your airline. If not then please make your life easy and choose another. I felt sick on the flight and the crew member did not allow me to walk up to her to ask for water she just told me to wait. Anyway they are absolutely disrespectful and rude. Our next flight apparently my luggage was to big and she made a whole scene. How in the world?

"not happy about this service"

Not Verified | Our flight was scheduled to depart at 12:15 am. We didn’t board the plan until 12:45 am, but after being on the plane we were told the flight was canceled due to missing pilot. We were given papers with a number to call and told they could help us reschedule our flight and set up hotel commendations. I called the number and they moved my flight to 7am flying into Orlando, but they told me I would have to talk to someone at the gate desk to secure a hotel. I am now waiting in a line of 40 other passengers not happy about this service.

"Crew very professional"

Trip Verified | London to Los Angeles. First time flyer with American Airlines so was unsure what to expect. Aircraft was quite new so was spacious, clean and bright. Booked exit seats which was a really good decision. No one seated in front and as much leg room as required, more than in PE. Crew very professional, helpful and attentive. The only thing that prevents me giving 10/10 was the food which was average at best. Would have no hesitation in booking again.

"Bad customer service"

Trip Verified | Boston to La Guardia. Worst airline. Bad customer service. La Guardia gate staff is the rudest of all the airports I’ve been too ( I travel weekly). Planes are always late. Plane has not once been on time to La Guardia. Delays to and from there constantly. Planes are old and need more time for maintenance.

"Worst around trip"

Trip Verified | Worst around trip I have ever taken. Went from Tallahassee to Newport News VA for my daughter’s graduation. First flight got delayed for maintenance issues, so they said. Lost my connection and since it was the last flight of the night had to flight the next day. We were given an voucher and taken to hotel( more like a motel) and also given food vouchers to use at the airport that by the way we could not use since it was late and all food places at the airport were close. In the return flight we asked about seat changes since AA wants to charge for that. If you have a reservation you would expect for the seats to be together. But not AA randomly pick your seats to force to pay for that option. Met three couples and every single of them had the same problem. But asked again and there was plenty of unassigned seats but they were not available unless you pay for them, to late give them to standby passengers. Lucky we found people that change seats with us. Not thanks to AA. Return flight was delayed again! Customer service and attendants were rude and not willing to help anyone. But if you show some character here you go out of the plane. AA is there because Is a service needed, not because the good service provided.

"worst airline ever"

Trip Verified | Boston to Washington. This is the worst airline ever. Our flight has been canceled all day (today is 5/12/19). A bunch of folks were supposed to board a 9 am flight, every flight has been canceled since this morning, including the 3pm flight we were supposed to board. A waste of people's time and money.

"customer service is horrendous"

Trip Verified | Dallas to Lexington. Arrived at the airport 42 minutes before my flight with literally zero people in the security line, but AA refused to allow me to board because I had a checked-sized bag. Despite having plenty of time, the agent first lied to me about why she couldn’t check my bag and said my only option was to go without my bag. I said it was no problem if my bag came late I just needed to make Mother’s Day dinner and wanted to board. She would not check my back on a later flight and said AA won’t do that. I said I would go without my bag and my husband could pick up my bag from security. They said you can’t leave without your bag and threatened to call the police on me if I did so! So, I couldn’t fly with my bag, have my bag come on a later flight, OR have my bag picked up. I had no option but to leave the airport since I was refused boarding for being 3 minutes late with no security line (and I’m precheck.) I missed Mother’s Day dinner with my family and will not ever give AA one single dime in the future. I’ll stick with Southwest even though it’s an hour from my family’s town. AA customer service is absolutely horrendous.

"wait at airport for over 12 hours"

Trip Verified | Denver to Tallahassee via Dallas Fort Worth. It all started when we first got to Denver. They forgot our bag in Tallahassee and had to wait until the next day to get it. When it comes time to flight back to Tallahassee, our first flight gets delayed twice, to the point that it arrived 8 minutes before our connection flight left for Tallahassee. Of course we missed it, it couldn't account for those who had a flight before. When we asked for a compensation, the people that work for American said that since it was due to "weather" they couldn't compensate. But, how are we supposed to know how the weather is going to look like? After that we had to wait at the airport for over 12 hours for the next flight to Tallahassee. We had to sleep on the floor, not even a single blanket was provided. What I don't understand is why did we have to be treated so inhumanely when it wasn't even our mistake. They just blame everything on the "weather" and not even respect people's rights. Will never fly through this airline again.

"Do not fly American Airlines"

Trip Verified | Dallas Ft Worth to Detroit. American airlines is the worst airline! I always flight Delta, every time I fly American Airlines the flight gets delayed many hours or gets canceled. They say nonsense things about how the airplane was defective but that it wasn't their fault, and because of that they couldn't reimburse us. Do not fly American Airlines.
