Not Verified | What a shockingly terrible experience from start to finish. We arrived at Orlando airport to face a melee to get bags tags (the machines would not respond to boarding passes and there was no-one on hand to help many frustrated customers). Customers were then faced with a huge slow moving queue to check bags in with a poor Delta employee sweating whilst dealing with already aggravated customers. Once arriving at the gate customers' experience was made worse by utter chaos: inaudible announcements (made via a tannoy system), customers stressed and on standby, travellers being hoarded onto the plane in a last minute panic (generated by the Delta staff themselves). Upon boarding the plane the experience only worsened - the Delta economy seats lean forward so that your back is put under immediate strain, there's less leg room than on short haul European Flights and the plane felt old and tired. The meals were luck laster for 1 of our party and 4 of our party were unable to have any meal at all: we have dietary restrictions which were booked in advanced and not delivered (meaning no meal for myself and 3 of my children for all 9 hours of our flight). Despite all of this and putting on a smile we were faced with obnoxious (probably overworked and tired) cabin staff who were rude, short, unhelpful and seemed in a huge rush to sit down for most of the flight. I asked a question of one air host who responded, "What!?" A "pardon" or "sorry I didn't hear you," would have been much warmer. To summarise we felt like herded cattle at best / cannon fodder at worst. We 100% regret flying with Delta - Virgin Atlantic are about 100000000000000 x better than this horrendous experience (for perspective we'd much rather have flown with Ryanair).

"the worst experience"

Not Verified | My Flight was delayed by over 4 hours. I was notified after arrival to the airport. Original delay was supposed to be 3 hours. Delta checked my bag all the way to the final destination. I was going to claim and check myself to avoid loss. But agreed due to the delay. Delta never got my luggage to the connecting flight. I ended up spending my entire vacation without luggage and got my bags a day before flying back. Delta gave me $30 airline credit for the delay and said that luggage issue isn't their problem. But connecting airline. 100% of the problem was caused by Delta. They didn't even bother to offer a different flight to make my connection. This cost me highly frustrating vacation and over $300 in additional expenses. Thanks Delta keep $30. This is the worst experience I have ever had with an airline.

"don't expect any communication"

✅ Trip Verified | First time on Delta in some 20 years and it will be the last. I was lured by the promise of flying the A330Neo but on both the JFK to ATH and then back to JFK ended up on a 19 year old A330 that must have been acquired from a defunct Latin American airline. Why did I guess this? The inflight navigation was solely in Spanish, the aircraft had ashtrays in the lavatories, only one of which was functioning on the ATH-JFK segment. The lie flat seats were beat and, this was new to me, there were flying insects in my window, a few of which got out and wandered about. Really Delta? Cabin crew staff was efficient and pleasant. I ordered a "special" lamb dinner which I handed to my partner who ended up very very ill. We asked for the proverbial "barf bag" of which there were none so she was handed a large garbage bag. The purser was kind and promised to make a note to Headquarters ... its been a month and we don't expect any communication. Let me add that my non-special dinner was inedible but my meal from JFK was good. Lesson learned Delta!

"Delta do better"

Not Verified | I had delay my return flight from Southern Italy to Florida due to the hurricane. The Delta rep was very kind and rescheduled my flights. I received a confirmation via email, checked in for my flight one day prior and even selected my seats. But upon arrival to the airport for my 1st flight to Rome, I was told that they could see my reservation, but the agent forgot the final step and my tickets had not been re-issued. I was forced to purchase a ticket to Rome at an exorbitant price, but was told to see a supervisor at Delta in Rome where they could re-issue my tickets for my remaining flight. I was assured in both Bari and Rome that the ticket I purchased would be refunded in full as the challenge was on their end. After speaking with a Delta rep upon my return they also agreed that a reimbursement is warranted. I've submitted my claim twice and have been denied. Every agent I speak with sees the mishap, and agrees but it is handled by a different department and you can not reach them by phone. Mistakes can happen, but I expected Delta to stand behind their reputation. Delta do better!

“employees helpful, cordial, and patient”

Not Verified | I'm sorry to read about travelers having bad experiences with Delta, but I will not fly any other airline if given the choice. I have flown Delta for the last four trips and everything went smoothly. On this last trip, I needed wheelchair assistance getting from gate to another. There was always someone from Delta waiting for me as I departed the plane, and the employees were extremely helpful, cordial, and patient. On the return, I overslept and made it to the Delta Ticket Counter with 36 minutes to spare! The agents teased me and then got serious about finding me a wheelchair. I got to the check-in with plenty of time to spare, even after going through the TSA line. Also, Delta is one of the airlines who let you change your flight times or dates with no penalties.

"I’ll never take Delta again"

✅ Trip Verified | I was on my way back home to Los Angeles from Cancun. Not only my airfare was more expensive than other airlines such as Alaska and Aeromexico, the service was just really so so. There are no meal provided to and from Los Angeles and the flights were right at meal time. I kept thinking what services they have provided that deserve higher airfare, but I don’t find any. Even other cheaper airline provides free WiFi on board as well. On top of that, they subject their passengers to a “tsa bag search” at the boarding gate, where they randomly selected passengers and forced them to a bag search. My friend who took another airlines told me they don’t see such search happening at their gates. And I wonder how “randomly” those passengers were selected. All were traveling alone, and minority. Not only the staff asked me to take my carry on baggage to check stations in a stern voice as if I’ve done something wrong, I had to open the bag for the staff to examine. I then have to take off my shoes and let them check my shoes and socks. All these happened at the gate at a slow speed while people kept passing by and watching. I passed the check of course but I’ll never take Delta again. Save some money and save the trouble. By the was, when I asked the flight attendant what drinks or food they have, she told me to check the menu. I mean, does that mean they have everything on the “menu”? They don’t even have almonds which is my usual option.

"when we switched to Delta it all fell apart"

Not Verified | Our departure from Tbilisi went smoothly, Air France is always good. Unfortunately when we switched to Delta it all fell apart. We were informed that they did not have enough available pilots to fly us to Atlanta so we were being re routed to Boston to acquire another pilot. We were assured this would cause only a minimal a delay, this was the first lie. When we arrived we had a very tight connection, and the notoriously awful TSA was in full form, screaming at everyone but actually doing nothing. We arrived at the gate just as the door was closing but she would not let us on and refused to rebook us. Delta offered hotel vouchers and directed everyone outside to wait for hotel shuttles. The joke was on us because the shuttles don't run after midnight!

"Terrible service"

✅ Trip Verified | Terrible service, they have been moving my flight around since 2020! I originally had a flight for a ski trip right before Covid, they canceled my flight and gave me e credit up to that point everting was still ok, after that I use the credit for a flight I needed to New York, it had a layover in Atlanta but I didn’t think much of it, they confirmed it. A month before my flight I get an email saying that they had changed my first flight and due to this I would not be able to make it to my layover flight to New York so I canceled it and had to book a new flight with a different company, now they are saying that I never payed my original flight all the way back in 2020 and refuse to give me the credit even tho I have several conversation with representatives that clearly show I had paid and confirmed my flights.
