FINNAIR INTRODUCE NEW BUSINESS CLASS SEATS ON LATEST A330 AIRCRAFT

Finnair introduce new Business Class seats on latest A330 aircraft

New lie-flat bed seating and an extra-spacious seating configuration are two of the main features to be enjoyed by Business Class passengers on Finnair's new Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The new type of full-flat seat reclines to fully horizontal, while the new lay-out with more seats offers significantly increased privacy for each individual passenger.

Finnair is one of the first airlines anywhere to adopt the innovative Contour Vantage seating. Finnair took delivery of five new Airbus A330s in 2009 as part of its long-haul traffic fleet modernisation. The fuel-efficient aircraft support Finnair's claims to have one of the youngest and most eco-friendly fleets in Europe which will reduce emissions significantly.

"The Business Class seats have been arranged so that nearly 90 per cent of passengers have direct access to an aisle. The cabin also has more storage space for hand baggage and clothing," explains Markku Remes, Finnair's Customer Experience Development Manager.

The new layout also allows the seats to be arranged so that more seats fit into the same space.

Finnair's latest Airbus A330 aircraft have 45 seats in Business Class instead of the 42 seats of previous aircraft. A third of Business Class passengers can choose a lie-flat seat on its own, without another seat beside it.

The new Airbuses represent the latest technology and their fuel efficiency is top class. "The acquisition of the new aircraft will significantly improve profitability and environmental efficiency. The new Airbus long-haul aircraft consume 20 per cent less fuel than the MD-11 they replace," says Christer Haglund, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications.

Finnair operates its new aircraft on its long haul network, with flights to Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul, Bangkok, Delhi and New York.
