Italian low-fare airline Volare cancels all flights and stops selling tickets
Volare, the Italian low-fare airline, has ceased flights due to a
financial crisis at the airline.
Volare operates domestic and international flights, and has cancelled
all flights and suspended ticket sales on an indefinite basis.
Italy's civil aviation authority has called a meeting with Volare
management to discuss the airline's financial position.
The company which owns Volare employs 1,380 staff and operates 24
aircraft.
"We regret to inform all passengers that starting from 19 November all
our flights are cancelled and tickets are not on sale at the moment,"
Volare said on its website.
Volare started operating as a charter airline in 1998, and started low-
cost operations in 2003.
Volare flew domestically between Italy's main cities including Rome,
Milan, Naples and Bologna, and internationally to Barcelona, Madrid,
Valencia, Paris, Prague, and Bucharest.
