AIR CHINA signs agreement with Connexion by Boeing to offer onboard internet and email service
Air China is to offer Connexion by Boeing, the high-speed onboard
internet service on selected international flights.
The installation of the service is expected to cover 15 firm and
optional retrofit installations on Air China's Boeing 747-400 aircraft,
with other long-haul aircraft to be decided at a later date.
The Connexion by Boeing installation is expected to commence October
2006 and will offer Air China passengers inflight internet access, real-
time email, instant messaging, corporate intranet access, including
virtual private network capability.
It is understood that the first phase of aircraft installations will be
completed in time for passengers to use the service in advance of the
2008 Olympics in Beijing. Service is expected to be offered on major
routes between China and North America, Europe, the Middle East and
across the Asia Pacific region.
