KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

KLM use the Swissport Aspire Lounge at Birmingham airport. The lounge has a nice view on the Apron,, the quiet zone is somehow misplaced, directly at the entrance of the lounge, so a quiet zone needs to be seen as relative. The choice of food is limited to some warmed up croissants and some soft panini's with bacon and some cereals (I had a late morning departure) which is a bit embarassing, but no surprise for a generic, non Airline specific lounge. The drinks and booze have a significant larger choice, but who really wants to drink heavy stuff at 9AM in the morning?The facility does not offer dedicated toilets and you need to go back to the public toilets outside.

As this is presumably the mother-ship of the KLM lounges, I found it to be very disappointing. It's gloomy and dull and the food offering is very poor. Crackers and floppy slices of cheese, and two pots of some stew-like dish, which didn't look appetising. Nothing looked fresh or appetising. It really wasn't a treat to come to this lounge, and we're stuck here for 4 hours!

Recently refurbished and enlarged. Can be very crowded depending on the time. Drink selection excellent but the food is boring. One of the few places at Schiphol with a dedicated smoking area. Good selection of newspapers. Staff in general are friendly but sometimes can be a bit snobbish. Compared to other Sky Team lounges quite nice.

KLM Crown lounge in Dubai is perfect when all other seats are taken in the airport. Apart from free WiFi, the lounge offers nothing more than the rest of the public area of the airport. It is clean and the staff is professional, but the food offered is nothing good. Drinks are available, but when it is busy you have to be lucky to get you preferred drink. Compeared to the competitors airline lounge this one is a real joke!

The KLM lounge is very large and features a wide array of seats. The seats in the dining area are not as comfortable as the seats in the rest of the lounge, which feature electric outlets to charge your device. The food is nice, hot and cold food throughout the day as well as alcoholic beverages, coffee and typical dutch appetizers such as 'drop' (liquorish) and 'stroopwafels' (syrup waffels). Staff is friendly, restrooms well maintained and clean. Downside: As air traffic at Schiphol increases (and the Skyteam passengers with it), the lounge, large as it is, is becoming too small for the volumes of passengers. The seats have marks of wear and tear.

Very, very busy. We managed to obtain seats in eating area for breakfast. Food choice OK, just that. Cereals, yogurt, rolls, two choices of ham , one of cheese and some boiled eggs. Alcohol choice much wider but given the time of day we didn't partake. I would have thought that as this is a business lounge the ladies toilets could have at least had some hand cream and a nice selection of toiletries. People wandering in and out at will, if the staff were busy on the front desk no check was made on who was using the lounge. As travelling on a business ticket, lounge included but if I had to pay I would have gone to the main departure area where there was a better choice of food.

Easy to find. Clean and quiet, a nice haven during busy periods. Staff thorough on checking who has access to the lounge, clipped and efficient, not friendly but not rude. The main area has comfortable seats with a range of soft drinks, a limited range of beer and wine. Crisps, nuts, cream cheese and olives set out for self service. There is no hot food, if your plane is delayed, or you need something more substantial you will need to go into the main departure area. There is an additional additional seating area if you walk past the short corridor towards the toilets. This wasn't clearly posted and might be important if you arrive and the first room is full. Wi fi excellent, desks also available. There is only one toilet per gender, normally fine but could be a problem if delayed. For the size of the airport, fine.

The lounge overall was pretty good, a nice selection of drinks and snacks but they didn't have any meals. The lounge seats were really comfortable, staff were friendly and welcoming. The lounge was clean as well as the toilets, but they did not have any showers. The lounge had free, good WiFi.

Food and drinks were ok but they have a number system to get customer service. This system seems to allow the KLM staff the opportunity to sit around, not helping anyone other than directing them to take a number. Overall the process is inefficient, slow, and not very customer focussed.

A huge disappointment. Limited and poor food and beverage offer (only potato chips, olives and an awful soup), no newspapers or magazines, crowded and dated facility. Internet Access required a complicated check-on process, so we quit. Shame on KLM.
